We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer - Code Foundations to join our London team. In this role, you’ll help us build the systems and standards that define what “good” looks like across our global codebase, empowering thousands of engineers to ship with velocity and confidence. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING You'll be joining the Code Foundations team, part of the Developer Platform group within the Foundations organisation, and reporting directly to its Director of Engineering. We empower 5,000+ engineers across DoorDash and its subsidiaries to ship faster without sacrificing quality by providing development environments, build pipelines, agentic development tools and SDUI in the mobile space. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like: * Leading the AI-Native Transformation: Identifying and implementing areas inside the group that would benefit from leveraging AI, from developer support to testing to prototyping. Working closely with teams across the group and stakeholders across the business at all levels of seniority to land the impact of the changes while ensuring everyone is brought along on the journey. * Embedding AI in Developer Workflows: Deliver consistent, trusted, and reproducible AI-assisted ways of working across all 5 teams in the group, in areas ranging from mobile development to developer tooling. * Powering AI-Assisted Development: Encode gating rules and quality expectations into agentic development workflows, ensuring AI-generated code meets the same rigorous standards as human-written code. * Driving Engineering Excellence: Use metrics to track efficiency improvements through initiatives grounded in data and influencing engineering standards across a distributed, global organisation. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others: * Excellent communication: Proven storytelling and narrative skills that will align the group behind a vision and ensure everyone is brought along for the journey. * Systems thinking: Demonstrated ability to design, build and operate complex systems or toolchains requiring the coordination of many stakeholders at large scale. * Strong business lens: Clear ability to look beyond the technical space and understand its impact on the business, and be able to translate organisational business goals into concrete team initiatives. * Significant experience in Go or similar: Strong software engineering fundamentals with a proven track record of building and operating production systems in Go or similar modern languages. Any experience with TypeScript, Kotlin, and Python is also beneficial. * Platform Engineering or Developer Experience mindset: Demonstrated ownership of large-scale codebases or shared developer platforms and frameworks used by many distributed teams. * Forward-looking Technical Vision: Familiarity with state-of-the-art agentic AI development workflows and the ability to translate ambiguous quality concerns into reproducible technical controls. In this role, you will lead the design strategy for critical product areas, influencing the long-term vision of our platform and driving architectural improvements that ripple across the entire Deliveroo ecosystem. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING You’ll be joining the Studio team. While your primary focus will be dedicated to the Deliveroo product, you will be part of a global design community that includes talented designers from Deliveroo, Wolt, and DoorDash. At the Staff level, you will play a pivotal role in this community, mentoring senior talent, cross-pollinating best practices, and setting the standard for design excellence globally. In this role, you’ll drive key pillars of our global strategy, leading initiatives to drive growth for our merchant and brand advertiser audiences. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING You’ll be joining a high-velocity team working on DoorDash International’s most critical growth levers. You will collaborate with Engineering, Data Science, and global GTM teams to build a unified retail media platform that serves our three-sided marketplace. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like: * Set the overall strategy for the next set of growth products that we’ll build for our global audience of merchants and brands. * Optimizing ad supply and relevance through improved ranking algorithms and inventory designs. * Building a path towards a global technology stack, so product innovations reach all markets instantly. * Running experiments to gather data, understand customer outcomes, and measure the impact of your bets. * Talking with customers to understand their needs and plan the next series of strategic investments we’ll make to drive their success WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others: * Proven experience as a Product Manager with experience from the B2B/B2C and/or Adtech and Martech space - you know what it takes to develop great products * Significant experience being data-savvy and analytical; you can grasp technical concepts quickly and partner effectively with Machine Learning and Operations Research specialists. * A systems-thinking mindset, with the ability to balance customer needs with commercial goals while considering second and third-order effects on the marketplace. * Demonstrated ownership of high-velocity execution, maintaining a sharp eye for detail in an environment where impact is paramount. * Resilience to thrive in a high-ownership environment where you are empowered to make formal ship decisions.
