Your Core Responsibilities * Manage broker relationships in the Commodities team Be able to take lots of responsibility and ownership early in your time here to drive the strategy forward * Closely collaborating and effectively communicate with Vol and Screen traders to manage risk portfolios * Leverage an entrepreneurial mindset to identify and research new trading opportunities * Perform trades analysis to improve trading Your skills and experience: * 2+ years of experience as an Execution/Broker Trader * BS, MS preferably in business, economics or STEM * You have a quantitative and strategic mindset and a healthy appetite for risk * Strong technical skills in Statistics and Python * You have a proven ability to act and make decisions in a fast-paced and competitive environment * You are analytical, passionate about reflecting on past trades, and always seeking to do better * Strong communication and teamwork abilities About Us IMC is a global trading firm powered by a cutting-edge research environment and a world-class technology backbone. The team is responsible for risk management across the full range of AHL funds and strategies — spanning a broad range of asset classes including fixed income, equities, credit, commodities, FX and volatility — and works closely with Portfolio Management, Research, Trading and Technology teams to resolve risk issues. The team has a strong focus on risk research and the development of proprietary, in-house risk tooling. It is responsible for independent research on new risk management techniques and improvements to existing risk analytics, including an internal risk model and Python code base. AHL Risk relies on the strong quantitative and risk backgrounds across the team, as well as programming, data analysis and communication skills. The Role AHL Risk are seeking a self-motivated Risk Manager & Researcher with a strong quantitative background to be part of a dynamic Risk Management team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Quantitative Risk Manager with intellectual curiosity and an interest in Quantitative Research. The role offers a roughly equal balance across ongoing risk monitoring, risk research and model development, and the build-out of the team's risk tooling and analytical infrastructure. It is a highly quantitative position, requiring a strong mathematical and statistical foundation in order to understand the systematic strategies under management and to research and build new risk models and tools. Key Responsibilities * Monitor and manage risk across systematic trading strategies & funds * Work with all areas within the business – both within and outside AHL – to resolve risk issues as they arise * Assist in building out the broader risk framework and analytical infrastructure – including internal risk models and code * Conduct research into new risk measurement and management techniques * Further develop the Man risk management framework and broaden awareness and good risk culture across all functions at Man * Reporting relevant risk data and information to key stakeholders – both internal and external – as and when required Key Skills & Experience * A strong mathematical and statistical background, with the ability to understand systematic strategies and to research and build new risk models and tools * MSc (or higher) in a highly quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Physics) * Minimum 2 years’ experience in a quantitative and/or risk-focused role within buy-side, sell-side or financial services * Knowledge of financial markets across major asset classes * Advanced understanding of portfolio risk modelling and risk management techniques * Advanced Python or similar programming skills, and general strength and fluency with technology and coding * Excellent communication skills Inclusion, Work-Life Balance and Benefits at Man Group You'll thrive in our working environment that champions equality of opportunity. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING You will work closely with clients on a range of transformation and advisory engagements, including * Trading systems transformation: Supporting trading landscape design, system selection, implementation, and optimisation for trading platforms, including contributing to software development activities. * Operating model & business transformation: Supporting the design and implementation of trading operating models across the full commodity lifecycle. * Digital & trading transformation: Helping clients embed data, analytics, and AI into trading and decision-making processes. * Risk advisory: Strengthening risk frameworks, governance, and reporting across trading organisations. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE We are particularly looking for people with experience or specialism in the following key areas across these sectors: * Oil and Bulk Commodities Trading: Expertise in bulk commodities trading markets, with a strong understanding of at least one of the following markets: oil, gas, LNG, metals or petrochemicals and refined products. Candidates should have a clear understanding of trading processes, market dynamics, and industry trends. * LNG, Gas & Clean Fuels Trading: Familiarity with different types of LNG contracts, such as long-term contracts, spot contracts, and short-term agreements. Understanding of pricing mechanisms and benchmarks, including oil-linked pricing, gas-on-gas pricing, and hybrid models. * Power and Short-Term Power Trading: Expertise in different power trading markets (e.g., day-ahead, real-time, bilateral, and over-the-counter markets) and an understanding of the impact that the rise in renewables, intermittency and flexibility is having on the markets. * Freight and Shipping Trading: Expertise in different areas of freight and shipping, including marine freight markets, the supply-demand balance for shipping capacity, key trade routes, the impact of economic cycles on freight rates and familiarity with different types of shipping contracts.
