The Company
We’re Octopus Legacy: one of the fastest growing tech companies in the country, part of the UK’s most exciting and best-trusted
group (you may have heard of some of our sister companies…) and we have a mission.
We’re on a path to scale, aiming to become a household name while transforming a long-established industry and helping our
customers prepare for, and find support after, death.
But we can’t do it alone, and that’s why we’re assembling a team of top performers to build with us.
Ready to be part of something big?
The Role
We’re looking for an ambitious and energetic Executive Assistant who’s excited by the idea of working in a fast-paced, high-growth
startup. This is a great opportunity for someone with around 2+ years of PA or EA experience who’s ready to step into a role with
more responsibility, supporting a founder operating at full speed.
You’ll be the go-to person for our Founder, Sam, keeping things organised, running smoothly, and moving forward. One day you might
be wrangling calendars and emails, the next coordinating team events or jumping on a special project - no two days will look the
same.
We need someone who loves the variety that comes with startup life, can stay calm under pressure, and gets things done.
Organise team events, all-hands meetings, and team-building activities that bring everyone together and keep things fun.
Who Are You?
We’re looking for someone who thrives in the fast-paced, all-hands-on-deck energy of a startup and has the following standout
managing diaries, nothing slips through the cracks.
second nature to you.
get things done.
sleeves and jump into whatever is needed to help the team succeed.
inspiring place to be.
Our Mission
When people think about planning for death they think about wills, life insurance and funerals. We take these cold processes and
turn them into something more human. Share more than money: leave voice notes, music, recipes. Shape a legacy that connects you
while you're here. And after you're gone.
Founded by Sam after his mum died suddenly, we’re a group of people who work in death because we’ve been affected by it. We know
the difference a good plan makes, and what it’s like when there isn’t one.
Death can come between us, leave mess, legal fees, frustration. But it can also make us stronger. We see a world where people talk
openly about death, and work out the real meaning of legacy, one that connects to them. We’re here to make that world happen.
We know that to be truly innovative, we need to have a diverse team around us. That is why Octopus Legacy is committed to creating
an inclusive environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
ROLE: DATA & ANALYTICS LEAD DEPARTMENT: COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS REPORTS INTO: VP OF COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS LOCATION: LONDON (HYBRID) About the role: We’re looking for Data & Analytics Lead to take ownership of our commercial data function. Commercial decisions increasingly depend on trusted, forward-looking data, and the bar on our data function has risen from “report what happened” to “define, predict, and steer.” We hold a high volume of data but need the definitions, governance, and ownership to turn it into insight the executive team trusts. This is a newly created role to close that gap. You’ll be the single owner of our data layer; its definitions, its quality, and the insight drawn from it. You’ll be leading a team of three (two data engineers and one senior analyst) and partnering directly with senior leadership. You’ll build deliberately, in sequence: a governed foundation and single source of truth first, then an exec-ready insight layer, then a credible AI and data strategy on top. You’ll be equally comfortable setting technical direction for engineers and translating data into clear narrative for executives. What you will do: * Own metric definitions, the semantic / metric layer, and a living data dictionary across the business, establishing a single source of truth. * Set and enforce data governance: ownership, quality standards, and definition change control, so the business stops debating “whose number is right.” * Direct the data engineering team on the pipelines and models that underpin the function. * Turn data into narrative and forecast, not just dashboards — equipping the exec team with decision-ready insight on pipeline, revenue, retention, and forecasting. * Own exec-facing reporting and the standards the analyst delivers against. * Act as the trusted data partner to the VP and the wider leadership team. * Define where AI and predictive analytics earn their keep (forecasting, scoring, copilots over governed data) and own the roadmap to deliver them. * Lead, mentor, and grow a team of three; set direction and standards, and create a path for junior talent to develop. * Sequence delivery deliberately; foundation, then insight, then AI, recognising that AI built on undefined data fails. Experience we're looking for: * Minimum of 3 years experience leading a data or analytics function * People leadership experience, has managed and developed analysts and/or data engineers. * Strong analytics-engineering depth; semantic / metric layers, dbt or equivalent, and SQL with the credibility to give technical direction to engineers. * Experience across this tech stack (or similar): PowerBI, PostgreSQL, OpenMetaData and AWS. * A track record of defining metrics and building governance and a single source of truth from a messy starting point. * Exec-grade communication: able to turn analysis into clear narrative and recommendation for a senior audience. * Ability to produce and present high quality analysis to both technical and business stakeholders Nice-haves: * SaaS, software, or subscription-business exposure (recurring revenue, retention / NRR, usage telemetry). * Hands-on experience with modern BI and forecasting tooling, and a pragmatic view on applied AI / ML. * Experience through a hardware-to-software shift or a wider commercial transformation. * Python automation skills Behaviours and traits we're looking for: * Product-minded: thinks about the why, not just the how. * A natural curiosity to learn and a 'can do' mentality with a strong preference to suggest solutions rather than just identify problems * Dynamic and quick to respond to changes, works well under pressure, and with other teams * No Ego: A win for the team and for our customers About Disguise Disguise is the industry-leading platform sitting at the heart of a new era of visual experiences. ABOUT US PhysicsX is a deep-tech company with roots in numerical physics and Formula One, dedicated to accelerating hardware innovation at the speed of software. We are building an AI-driven simulation software stack for engineering and manufacturing across advanced industries. By enabling high-fidelity, multi-physics simulation through AI inference across the entire engineering lifecycle, PhysicsX unlocks new levels of optimization and automation in design, manufacturing, and operations — empowering engineers to push the boundaries of possibility. Our customers include leading innovators in Aerospace & Defense, Materials, Energy, Semiconductors, and Automotive. The Opportunity We’re looking for a Content & Communications Strategist to join our Marketing & Communications team, reporting directly to the Head of Marketing & Communications. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the public voice of a fast-scaling, deeply technical company operating at the frontier of engineering and AI. In this role, you’ll translate complex, high-value work into clear, compelling narratives across every channel where PX shows up — the website, social platforms, events, executive stages, partner channels, and internally. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product leaders, partner teams, leadership, and designers to turn our work into stories that build credibility, attract talent, and deepen customer engagement and confidence. We're looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of storytelling, creative execution, and strategic alignment. You will operate as a core part of PX’s comms engine, helping build a scalable content operation and raising the creative bar across everything we publish. We operate in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment where priorities can shift quickly and the path isn’t always linear. As we grow the team, you’ll be one of the core operators driving content delivery — which means real ownership, real impact, and real learning. If you thrive under pressure, enjoy solving problems on the fly, and like stretching beyond your comfort zone, you’ll feel at home at PX. What You’ll Do * Partner with the Head of Marketing & Communications to develop and maintain a unified editorial calendar across blog, website, social, events, and PR moments. * Write and edit high-quality content — blog posts, web pages, one-pagers, long-form thought leadership, scripts, and event materials — that reflects PX’s tone of voice and raises the signal across all channels. * Support the development of messaging and materials for executive and technical speaking engagements. * Lead PX’s voice on LinkedIn and Instagram, sourcing content, shaping narratives, and publishing a consistent drumbeat of high-signal updates, helping amplify key moments across product, platform, partnerships, and talent. * Ensure stylistic consistency and creative excellence across all digital touchpoints. * Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies on the creation of video content — storyboarding, scripting, production, and review. * Support internal communications and employer brand storytelling (#comms announcements, people-related updates, talent events, and recruiting content). * Partner with Talent to support employer brand storytelling, creating compelling content that attracts world-class engineers and researchers. * Work with partner organizations to produce and amplify joint content, case studies, and announcements. * Uphold and evolve PX’s tone of voice and editorial standards across all communications. * Track performance through comprehensive dashboards, gather qualitative and quantitative insights, and continuously refine what great looks like. What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days) * Develop a PX-specific content strategy grounded in our positioning, technical domain, and target audiences, with clear priorities, themes, and a structured editorial plan. * Publish 4-6 high-quality blog posts that meet PX editorial standards (clear thesis, strong narrative, technically grounded, visually supported), supported by short-form video content for social amplification. * Own and maintain a clean, reliable editorial calendar used by the wider team. * Deliver event and executive materials end-to-end (slides, talking points, social), ensuring they're on-brand and engaging. * Build strong working relationships with engineers and technical stakeholders, proactively sourcing stories and insights. * Demonstrate clear understanding of PX’s positioning, customers, competitors, and technical domain. About You * 5-6 years of experience in communications, marketing, or editorial roles (agency or in-house), ideally within B2B tech, AI, engineering, or deep-tech environments. * Exceptional writer and editor with the ability to distill technical concepts into accessible, incisive stories. * Strong narrative and tone of voice instincts — you know what makes a story compelling and how to adapt it for different audiences and formats, while staying true to the company/stakeholder tone of voice. * Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineers, designers, technical leaders, and commercial teams. * High-agency, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity; you can drive projects forward with minimal oversight. * Strong judgment and discretion, able to handle sensitive information and high-stakes content. * You operate with high ownership and motivation — you don’t wait to be told what to do. * You don't compromise on quality or level of attention to detail, regardless of the format you're working with. * You are comfortable working at pace and flexing when needed. * You are excited to engage deeply with technical material, not just simplify it. * You can develop PX-specific content strategy grounded in our technical domain, customers, and positioning — not templated frameworks. * You demonstrate editorial judgment: identifying what’s new, what’s redundant, and what’s worth saying. Bonus Points * Experience supporting executives with talks, presentations, and event materials. * Familiarity with visual design workflows (Figma, Adobe Suite) or working closely with design teams/agencies. * Experience working with or around video production. This role is the right fit if: * You do your best work when you have ownership and room to shape things, rather than waiting for a fully formed brief. * You're genuinely comfortable — maybe even energized — by complex technical subject matter, and you know how to get up to speed fast. * You use AI as a tool to streamline projects and sharpen your thinking, not as a substitute for it. * You're flexible about how and when you work, and you take deadlines seriously. * You hold yourself to a high standard and actively look for ways to raise the bar on your own output. What We Offer Build what actually matters Help shape an AI-native engineering company at a formative stage, tackling problems that genuinely matter for industry and society.
