Your mission Heart Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Battery Design Engineer to join our growing and dynamic team. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, testing, and optimization of advanced battery systems specifically designed for the demanding requirements of electric aerospace applications. You will leverage your deep understanding of design methodologies and approaches to drive innovation and ensure the highest levels of performance, safety and reliability. You will translate system-level requirements into robust, certifiable mechanical designs, playing a critical role in electrifying the future of flight. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Lead the mechanical design, and development of various battery mechanical systems, including battery cells, module design, module housings, high voltage distribution and full pack assemblies using advanced CAD tools (e.g. NX). * Develop innovative and weight-optimized structural solutions to meet aircraft-level vibration, shock, and crash safety requirements. * Create and manage detailed engineering drawings and specifications, applying a high standard of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). * Generate high quality DFMEA’s and DVP&R’s * Define and execute comprehensive validation and verification test plans (mechanical, environmental, and abuse testing) to qualify designs for aerospace applications. * Collaborate cross-functionally with Electrical, Thermal, and System Integration teams to ensure seamless integration of the battery system into the aircraft structure. * Ensure all designs meet relevant aerospace safety and certification standards (e.g., FAA, EASA, DO-160, DO-311, etc.). * Support the transition of designs from prototype to high-volume manufacturing, focusing on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA). * Drive program schedule, timelines. Ensure releases are on time to meet vehicle program milestones. * Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical resource within the mechanical engineering team. Skills & Requirements: You'll Bring These Qualifications for Battery Mechanical Design Engineer: * Minimum of 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design, with a significant focus on high-voltage battery systems (cell, module, or pack level). * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical field * Proficiency in a mechanical CAD tool (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA). * Proficiency with FEA software and hand calculations in structural and thermal analysis using industry-standard FEA/CFD software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, Star-CCM+). * Deep understanding of structural mechanics, fatigue analysis, and thermal management principles as applied to electrochemical systems. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information clearly. * Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have: * Prior experience designing components for certified aerospace or high-reliability automotive/EV applications. * Familiarity with aerospace certification processes and design standards (e.g., DO-160, DO-311A, MIL-STD, UN 38.3, IEC standards). * Master's or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a specialization relevant to energy storage. * Hands-on experience with design for sealing and ingress protection (IP ratings). * Experience with BMS enclosure and interconnect design. * Knowledge of manufacturing processes unique to battery pack construction (e.g., laser welding, potting, sealing). Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade. Your Mission We are seeking a Propulsion Engineer to join our Dynamic Propulsion team in Torrance, CA. You will lead the testing, validation and certification of the aircraft’s hybrid-electric powertrain system. You will also interface across mechanical, thermal, propulsion, actuation, avionics, and battery teams to develop, execute, and analyze integrated system-level tests of the Electric Propulsion Unit (EPU) and its subsystems. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Lead and execute system-level powertrain testing, including electric motor, inverter, gearbox, disconnect systems, and propeller subsystems. * Design and commission hybrid-electric propulsion test stands, HIL, and Digital Twin, including instrumentation, safety systems, control systems, and data acquisition. * Plan, execute, and document test campaigns to verify performance, safety, and certification compliance. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop test procedures and test plans for integrated propulsion systems. * Coordinate with suppliers and external labs to support component and system-level testing. * Analyze test data, prepare reports, and provide feedback to design teams for iterative development. * Support environmental, endurance, fault-injection, and compliance testing for certification readiness. You'll Bring These Qualifications: * 2+ years of professional experience in powertrain, propulsion, or test engineering, with electric or ideally hybrid-electric systems. * Hands-on experience designing and operating powertrain or propulsion test stands with complex instrumentation and control. * Deep understanding of electric powertrains including motors, inverters, batteries, and thermal management systems. * Proficiency with data acquisition systems (e.g., dSPACE, NI, Dewesoft) and instrumentation (current/voltage sensors, thermocouples, strain gauges). * Experience developing automated test procedures and control scripts (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, or similar). * Strong analytical skills in interpreting test data and diagnosing system performance and failure modes. * Understanding of high voltage safety standards and procedures for testing environments. These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have: * Familiarity with aerospace certification requirements (EASA CS-23/25 or FAA FAR Part 23/25). * Experience with DO-160 or MIL-STD environmental test standards. * Experience with root cause analysis and tools such as DFMEA and fault tree analysis. * Background in hybrid propulsion systems or aerospace propulsion integration. Lyten Labs is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a specialization in automated industrial (battery) production equipment and utilities. As an Electrical engineer for Facilities, Utilities & Equipment you will own and develop the electrical infrastructure that powers Labs’ facilities, utilities and production equipment. You will deliver safe, available and energy-efficient systems that support pilot-line manufacturing (mixing, coating, calendaring, assembly and formation & aging) and the on-site validation Labs. Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) Engineer and maintain LV/MV distribution (switchgear, transformers, UPS) and earthing/bonding for production, labs and offices. Specify, review and commission power distribution to pilot lines and utilities (e.g. dry rooms, HVAC, process cooling, vacuum) with correct protection, short-circuit ratings and risk controls. Ensure designs and installations comply with applicable EU/SE directives. Support ATEX related interfaces where applicable. Define electrical PM strategies for utilities and safety systems (fire detection interfaces, E-stops, interlocks). Implement energy-efficient equipment to support Lyten sustainability model. Support FAT/SAT, commissioning and change control of equipment related to electrical design. Maintain as-built electrical documentation of equipment. Collaborate with Automation team to ensure safe integration of equipment interlocks and parameter/recipe control via SCADA/PLC with proper electrical segregation and safety relays. Manage OEMs and partners, define specifications, review line-diagrams, I/O lists, load lists and test protocols. Ensure deliverables meet standards. Set and maintain the self-inspection program for electrical works (Egenkontrollprogram) Establish electrical condition monitoring and power-quality dashboards. Drive structured RCA’s for electrical incidents and implement preventive actions Maintain traceability and change records. Contribute to the energy and uptime KPIs for Labs Support and collaborate with project teams to select the most proficient equipment suppliers from an electronics/electrical systems perspective. Responsible for acceptance of the Site Acceptance Tests of equipment upon commissioning completion. Organize and take part in internal training and workshops. Cost estimations for projects and change requests. Provide input for quoting, planning works, and change orders. Requirements Educational background and previous experience required for the role Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields. 5+ years of experience in industrial/facilities electrical engineering (power distributions, utilities and production equipment) A-Authorization according to Swedish Electrical Authorization (either Swedish or via recognition of foreign qualifications.. Qualifications and Experience Demonstrated competence in LV/MV systems, protection coordination, arc-flash mitigation and earthing / EMC for both office and production environments. Experience with process industry or high-precision manufacturing (battery, pharma, semiconductor, advanced labs) Comfortable working with automation and data teams to surface electrical health and energy KPIs at plant level. Ability to travel to different Lyten’s factories and to supplier visits. Specific skills & Knowledge Compliance with requirements of Swedish directives and European Directives and relevant ISO, IEC, and safety standards (SEK Svensk Elstandard framework, Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive, Machinery Directive, ATEX). Good understanding of project and supplier management, and structured problem solving skills.
