Your Mission
We are seeking a Propulsion Engineer to join our Dynamic Propulsion team in Torrance, CA. You will lead the testing, validation
and certification of the aircraft’s hybrid-electric powertrain system. You will also interface across mechanical, thermal,

Your mission As a Propulsion Engineer focused on Transmission, you will be essential in designing, developing, and integrating the mechanical power transmission system within our hybrid-electric propulsion framework. Transmission system includes but is not limited to shaft, drive shafts, couplings, gearbox, and disconnect systems. You will collaborate closely with teams from various disciplines, including electric propulsion, turbomachinery, software, and structural engineering, to create robust, lightweight, and high-efficiency transmission solutions. This role demands a high level of technical expertise in mechanical design and a strong understanding of propulsion systems. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: * This role is a Responsible Engineer (RE) who focuses on the integration of hybrid transmission systems into our hybrid aircraft. * Design and develop gearbox and mechanical power transmission systems for electric and hybrid-electric propulsion. * Perform sizing, strength, thermal, and NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) analyses of transmission components. * Nonlinear static and Dynamic analysis of structures and rotor systems. * Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to guide component development, material selection, and manufacturing processes. * Define requirements, specifications, and interface documents for transmission subsystems. * Lead and support testing and validation efforts including test rig development, instrumentation, and data analysis. * Collaborate with propulsion integration teams to ensure seamless integration into the aircraft. * Support certification and compliance activities in alignment with aviation regulatory bodies (e.g., EASA, FAA). You'll Bring These Qualifications: * 3+ years of experience in mechanical transmission design, preferably in aerospace or automotive sectors. * Aircraft or rotorcraft rotor dynamics and external loads analysis. * Hands-on experience in testing and validation of rotating machinery. * Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX) and CAE tools FEA, Python, Ansys for structural analysis and Github. * Experience with gear design, bearings, lubrication systems, and housing structures These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have: * Understanding of certification requirements (EASA CS-23/25 or FAA FAR Part 23/25). * Knowledge of aerospace airworthiness standards, e.g. DO-254, and DO-160. * Experience with electric or hybrid propulsion systems. Education * Master’s or PhD degree in in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline. Base Pay Range: $124,000—$155,000 USD

You will lead the design and development of the HV electric motors for our aircraft’s hybrid propulsion. You will interface across mechanical, thermal, power electronics, airframe, and battery teams to deliver a fully integrated and certifiable hybrid Electric Propulsion Unit (EPU). Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Design, develop, commission, and certificate innovative cutting-edge electric motors for hybrid propulsion system. * Lead and execute system-level tests, such as motor and propeller test stands. * Collaborate with suppliers to ensure delivery of integrated, and certifiable subsystems. * Perform avionics-optimized electric motor topology trade studies. * Create 2D/3D CAD models of electric motors in drawing tools (e.g., Siemens NX). You'll Bring These Qualifications: * 2+ years of professional experience designing high voltage, high power electric motors. * In depth understanding of permanent magnet motor design, principles, modeling, and analysis techniques. * Proficiency with JMAG, Ansys Maxwell, RMxpert, or MotorCAD. * Design and optimize electromagnetic active parts for manufacturing and certification. * Hands-on experience with integration of propulsion and/or powertrain test stands, including instrumentation, controls, and mechanical assembly. * Strong understanding of electric motors manufacturing processes such as stator winding, lamination stacking, and stator varnishing. * Strong knowledge of motor manufacturing, heat treatment, statics, dynamics and mechanics of materials. These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have: * Understanding of certification requirements (EASA CS-23/25 or FAA FAR Part 23/25). * Knowledge of aerospace airworthiness standards, e.g. DO-254, and DO-160. * Develop and maintain design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA). You will lead the design and integration of the hybrid propulsion, including but not limited to the inverters, motors, HV cables, with batteries, and in parallel with Turbomachinery. You will interface across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and flight control systems to deliver a fully integrated and certifiable hybrid Electric Propulsion Unit (EPU). Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: * This role is a Responsible Engineer (RE) who focuses on the integration of power electronics and high voltage electrical systems into our hybrid aircraft. * Full ownership over design, fabrication, commissioning, and certification of the hybrid propulsion system. * Lead and execute system-level tests, such as motor and propeller test stands. * Collaborate with suppliers to ensure delivery of integrated, certifiable subsystems. * Model the electrical and power electronics systems in to our high fidelity Digital Twin for optimization of our hybrid mission profile. * Perform topology selection trade studies. You'll Bring These Qualifications: * 2+ years of professional experience working with power electronics components. * Strong experience in high voltage power electronics design (+800V) including AC/DC inverters, and DC/DC converters. * Strong understanding of HV filter design, grounding analysis, coordination of protective devices. * Hands-on experience with integration of propulsion and/or powertrain test stands, including instrumentation, controls, and mechanical assembly. * Extensive experience with Altium/cadence/similar), circuit analysis (spice), gate driver design, and lab work (common tools like oscilloscopes, network analyzers) * Experience with C/C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink, or PLECS. * Strong knowledge of Avionics communication, ARINC, CAN, and Ethernet. * Strong understanding of Microcontrollers, Multicore processors, Firmware Development, and digital power conversion. These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have: * Understanding of certification requirements (EASA CS-23/25 or FAA FAR Part 23/25). * Knowledge of hardware design and airworthiness DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160. * Demonstrated leadership qualities through cross-functional teamwork on challenging problems. * Working knowledge of EMI/EMC, underlying physics and specifications, along with best practices for design, and strategies. * Hands on experience with Matlab/Simulink Auto Code Generation. Education * Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Electronics, or Power Systems. Base Pay Range: $124,000—$216,000 USD
