The value of Axis world-class devices is realized through software integrations - and someone needs to own the big picture. As our Lead Integration Architect, you'll take on the strategic stewardship of our entire public integration offering, shaping how thousands of external developers connect with Axis technology. If you're energized by the intersection of architecture and business impact - and curious about how AI is redefining it all - this role was made for you.
Who is your future team?
The Developer Experience team owns the entire journey for external developers who integrate with Axis devices - from discovering what's possible with our products, to accessing the tools and documentation needed to build production solutions, to long-term concerns like API versioning. You'll be joining a team that sits at the crossroads of R&D, product strategy, and the external developer community.
What you'll do here as Lead Integration Architect
Axis has long been an industry leader in integration possibilities: VAPIX network APIs, ACAP (Axis Camera Application Platform) as an on-edge application platform, and a growing set of cloud API offerings. Through these, developers can consume video, audio, and sensor data from our devices - and configure and control their operation. Your mission is to ensure this rich integration offer keeps growing in value and capability. In practice, you will:
Own the architectural direction of the Axis integration offering across on-device, network, and cloud APIs, ensuring a coherent and forward-looking strategy.
Guide and influence R&D teams across the organization to publish and maintain high-quality APIs - through solid governance, clear guidelines, and accessible support.
Balance long-term vision with incremental progress - architecture at Axis is not a slide deck; you will drive concrete, step-by-step improvements.
Champion the developer experience by ensuring it is easy for internal teams and external partners alike to do the right thing.
Navigate technical, organizational, and business considerations in your daily work, building trust and alignment with stakeholders ranging from developers to senior leadership to partners and customers.
Stay ahead of industry trends, especially how AI is transforming both the value of and the demand for developer integration offerings.
Drive organizational change through influence and communication rather than direct authority - excelling through soft power.
Who are you?
You are a strategic thinker who also rolls up your sleeves to make things happen. You lead through influence - building trust, creating alignment, and making it easy for others across a large organization to move in the right direction. You know when to be pragmatic and when to hold firm to protect long-term quality. You communicate with clarity and confidence, adapting your style whether you're speaking with a developer, a senior manager, a sales team, or an external partner.
Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and align diverse stakeholders through influence and communication.
A deep strategic understanding of the role a developer offering plays in a business context.
Experience leading technical strategy across teams or products - for example as an architect, product owner, or program manager
A broad understanding of the full software stack of a hardware device company - from embedded software to cloud integrations - with deep knowledge and hands-on experience in at least one part of that stack.
Curiosity and a well-formed perspective on how AI is reshaping developer integration offerings.
A university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field - or equivalent experience.
Previous experience of being responsible for a public API offering.
Hands-on experience of developing software in a hardware product company.
Familiarity with Axis products and services.

THE STORY With AI tools accelerating how software is built, code is being shipped faster than ever before. This acceleration comes with a major catch, being architectural and security risks are accumulating just as fast. That’s where Oplane, a Malmö-based tech startup comes in. They are on a mission to make secure software the default for teams building at AI speed. Instead of patching things up afterwards, they embed security by design directly into the agentic workflow, running automated threat modeling and delivering real time, inline fixes straight into modern developer tools. A recent $5.2 million seed round led by Seed Capital and icebreaker vc, with backing from prominent tech investors from the Neo4j and Google ecosystems, is the direct driver behind expanding the engineering team right now. THE WAY THEY BUILD Agentic coding with Claude Code and Cursor is not a weekend experiment here, it is the core of how they ship software. The code is explicitly structured to optimize AI development, producing clear, modular architecture that both humans and AI agents can safely navigate and evolve. YOUR MISSION & IMPACT As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will step in at a crucial early stage to design, build, and own the core infrastructure of the AI security platform. The job is to turn complex technical challenges into a scalable automated threat modeling engine, robust backend services, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools that power both the AI agents and the web application. What you will actually spend your days doing: * Core Engineering: Architect and scale robust backend services and asynchronous workflows primarily in Python. * AI Integration: Design and build MCP tools and internal agent facing functionalities to push the boundaries of agentic coding. * System Optimization: Continuously improve performance, security, and reliability across the entire backend stack. * Lead the AI Workflow: Work actively with Claude Code and Cursor as part of your daily routine. You will guide the AI to generate the first drafts, while you act as the main architect, reviewer, and owner of the production ready codebase. WHO YOU ARE You are a backend craftsman who thrives in the dynamic environment of an early-stage startup, bringing the autonomy and technical ownership needed to build things from the ground up. What you bring to the table: * Deep Experience: A solid track record of 10+ years within software engineering, with a strong emphasis on backend systems and service oriented architectures. * System Design Mastery: A profound understanding of how to build maintainable, highly reliable, and clean APIs. * The AI First Mindset: Great enthusiasm for agentic development. You look forward to leveraging AI tools to write the first drafts, focusing your brainpower on reviewing, validating, and structuring the overarching architecture. * Clean Coding Practices: A habit of writing software that is highly explicit, modular, and easy for both human colleagues and AI agents to understand and expand upon. * Work Authorization: Full eligibility to work in Sweden. Bonus points if you have experience with Python frameworks like FastAPI and async services, a background or strong interest in application security (threat modeling/pentesting), or experience with GraphQL and developing developer facing platform tools. THE SETUP * The Team: You will join a sharp, technical team of founders and engineers who move fast, collaborate closely, and are deeply passionate about technology. * The Vibe: High bandwidth, real life collaboration is key here. This is a 100% onsite role at Oplane's office in central Malmö, where the team works closely to maximize execution and speed. READY TO BUILD THE FUTURE OF AI SECURITY? Apply right now, or reach out to us at Qlose if you want to know more about the team and the journey ahead.
