As an Application Engineer II at Mollie, you will have the opportunity to utilize your technical and leadership skills to develop innovative, user-friendly financial products and APIs that serve tens of thousands of merchants daily. Your role will focus on creating highly scalable solutions capable of processing numerous payments per second, where code quality and system performance are critical. You will play a vital part in building robust architectures and optimizing our systems to meet the increasing demands of our merchants, while also having the chance to bring your product development ideas to life as we pursue ambitious expansion plans. Our Milan Hub: In 2023, we successfully launched a new hub in one of the most vibrant cities in Europe: Milan! Since its inception, the Milan hub has been consolidated and continues to grow at a fast pace, contributing significantly to Mollie’s mission with multiple passionate agile engineering teams that will innovate, build, and enhance our portfolio of next-generation payment products. You'll work in a cross-functional team (Data, Machine Learning, Platform and Product) to accelerate our product delivery. What you will be doing: * Technological Flexibility: We welcome experience in any object-oriented programming language. While we primarily use PHP and Java, we view these as tools to create solutions for our customers. * Building Large-Scale Systems: Help us design and develop systems that can scale to manage high volumes of transactions efficiently and effectively. * API and Service Development: Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Mollie’s engineering teams. Work on service integrations with various systems to ensure seamless operations. * Collaboration Across Domains: Work closely with engineers, marketing, partnership, and product teams to build and enhance features on a large scale. Cross-functional collaboration is key to our success. * Communication: Excellent English communication skills, with experience working effectively with various stakeholders. Can explain complex problems and solutions in simple terms. Have the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences * Autonomy and Ownership: Lead technical initiatives from architecture design to implementation, ensuring engineering excellence throughout the process. As part of our Developer Enablement domain, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the CI/CD infrastructure that drives our continuous integration, developer workflows and deployment pipelines, providing a foundation for rapid and reliable software delivery. Join us as a Platform Engineer within the Build team, where you’ll be at the forefront of maintaining and optimising our CI/CD tools, ensuring stability, scalability, and efficiency across our platforms. Your work will empower our engineering teams to deliver high-quality software with confidence, enabling our Engineers to build products that will eliminate the financial bureaucracy for our customers. What you'll ship * Oversee the health, stability and scalability of CI/CD infrastructure to support Mollie's product delivery. * Monitor and respond to outages in those systems to maintain high availability, reliability and operational standards. * Develop, scale and implement strategies, guidelines, and governance of CI/CD systems while future-proofing their architecture for security, compliance and resilience concerns. * Optimize and balance CI/CD compute and storage usage towards efficient resource usage while keeping developer experience in mind. * Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to CI/CD tooling with internal customers, working collaboratively with other engineering teams to minimize to maintain seamless workflows. What you'll bring * Good grasp of CI Systems and hands-on experience with Gitlab or similar (such as Jenkins, Buildkite, etc.), with a strong focus on self-hosted operations. * Some experience with cloud-native Deployment and GitOps solutions such as Gitlab, ArgoCD or similar(Flux, GoCD, Spinnaker, Harness, etc), with strong focus on self-hosted operations. * Prior experience with at least one major cloud-based provider as well as Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform. * Comfortable running, monitoring and developing systems on Kubernetes and using tools like Helm. You're also familiar with cloud-native container tools and building optimized images. * Good problem-solving and investigative skills, with a creative approach to tackling challenges using observability and debugging tools. * The ability to work cross-functionally, communicate effectively, and maintain clear documentation while having a customer empathy mindset towards product and application engineers. Nice to have * Previous experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) * Previous experience building and operating continuous integration with Gitlab. * Previous experience building and operating deployment platforms based on ArgoCD.
