The Data Science & Analysis team at element61 works with clients and helps them understand the impact of (big) data, digital & analytics on their business model, define a compelling strategy, and get the job done. You will be part of a mixed team of Data & Analytics Strategists, Data Scientists, and Analysts and will help our clients from strategy, over providing insights to supporting multiple Analytics tracks (including machine learning and genAI projects). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES As a Data Scientist/Analyst, you aim to work hands-on to deliver Data-Driven Insights to your customers. Every mission we embark on will be a collaboration with the customer, where we translate their ambitions into concrete deliverables. This leads to a variety of engagements across clients, business functions & industries: e.g., one month you might be working for the Finance team in a manufacturing context and, another month, on a churn analysis for Marketing for a utility customer. * Guide customers towards supporting their business use case or idea with Data-Driven Insights & Analytics * Use statistical analysis to interpret data sets, discover trends and patterns that could be valuable for customers * Apply Machine Learning techniques to translate data into predictive insights. * Develop and maintain generative AI applications (beyond chatbots), including prompting, indexing, LLM choice, and front-end integration * Design and develop Reports and Dashboards aimed to be used by business teams * Be a thought partner for the client Data Analysts teams in tackling their specific challenges, limitations & ambitions with Data & Analytics * Inspire customers with insights, opportunities on new data-driven use cases * Embrace project management aimed at getting the job done. This will include working with client Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Business Stakeholders * Be an on- and offline ambassador for the element61 team Working at element61 means you will work with businesses and executives in Belgium, helping them to understand the impact of (big) data and analytics on their business processes and activities. YOUR PROFILE * University degree in Computer Science or (Business) Engineering and/or a specialized master's in Machine Learning or AI, which reflects in * Knowledge about machine learning approaches and the variety of models which exist & their application area (e.g., SVM, RNN, Deep learning) * Knowledge about Data Science basics, including sampling and the various evaluation metrics * Knowledge about Generative AI techniques * Minimal experience in SQL, Python or R is required * No working experience required; any experience can be a plus * Knowledge of analytics tools (Power BI, Databricks, Azure) is considered a plus * First experience with genAI technology is considered a plus * Passionate about data, analytics & machine learning technology and eager to learn * Enthusiastic about being part of a growing Analytics team and industry * Fluency in English, Dutch or French is a plus WHY US? ABOUT THE TEAM This role is part of the Data Science team, which is the largest department in our organization, consisting of close to 200 Data Scientists throughout the world. Our Data Scientists work in a full-lifecycle role across a broad range of subjects, acquiring extensive technical and professional experience in data science, data engineering, software engineering, business understanding, and client engagement. TEAM IMPACT & FOCUS * The Data Science team actively participates in the definition and development of our suite of products focused on fraud detection, anti-money laundering, and claim automation. * We possess deep technical and professional experience across coding, data science, data engineering, and client interactions. * We work with a highly diverse set of data types, including structured data, free text, documents, and images. * Our company is small enough that each person’s achievements have an impact on our overall performance, yet big enough to be a world leader and innovator in our domain. * You will work alongside technical experts, playing a key role in deploying our enterprise-level solutions to our clients. * Local Context: You will be joining the Brazilian Data Science team, which works mostly for US Property & Casualty (P&C) customers. Our main focus is deploying solutions to new clients, maintaining client production, and contributing to the development of our Fraud Detection Solution. ROLE PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES Your primary purpose is to deploy Shift Technology’s solutions to new clients and maintain the solution for existing clients, which includes managing data pipelines, executing ETL processes, and developing, testing, tuning, and deploying fraud detection models.   You will be in charge of a designated pod of clients and execute the following duties: * Client Implementation: Implement Claim Fraud Detection (CFD) for new clients, focusing on ETL setup, detection implementation, and workflow automation. * Feature Deployment: Roll out new platform features to existing clients. * Optimization: Drive continuous improvements across existing client environments and pipelines. * Stakeholder Engagement: Interact with internal and external stakeholders to define client roadmaps, collect user feedback, present business cases, and report regularly on solution performance. * Leadership & Mentorship: Actively mentor more junior data scientists on the team. REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS We are looking for a professional with 3+ years of experience in a similar role (deployment engineering, data science, data engineering, or software engineering).   * Software Engineering: A strong background in an OOP language (such as C#, C/C++, or Java) and SQL. We thrive on people who can write maintainable, production-quality code that runs every day without breaking. * AI Competency: AI-savvy with a clear understanding of statistics, machine learning, and data solutions. Must be able to communicate these concepts internally and explain how the product works to clients. * Client Interaction: Client-facing comfort. You need to be open to communicating directly with our clients on a regular basis. * Business Acumen: Business smart.
