We are adding to our team of Owls for our winter season, and we are now opening another Tour Guide position for a guide who ALREADY has a kjøreseddel. During winter, we offer day and night activities like northern light hunts, snowshoeing excursions, and sightseeing tours. The challenges of the guides are in keeping the group entertained and safe both outdoors in Arctic weather conditions and on the icy roads. The work requires social skills far more than extreme outdoor experience. Particular attention will be paid on the shared information and the guide's storytelling skills on tours. We are aiming at high quality experiences and require our guides to be fully prepared. Our guides use their interests, experiences and education as a base for creating their own personal guiding style. Nobody is expected to know everything about everything. This position requires availability during Christmas week and on weekends, as is the nature of the industry. We are also looking for on-call guides to join our team in Tromsø. Requirements • A kjøreseddel needed for driving a van with a drosjeløyve • Passion for what you do, with many good stories to share e.g. about Norwegian culture, mythology, northern lights and midnight sun, astronomy, history, arctic exploration, nature and wildlife • Guiding experience and knowledge of Tromsø area • Experience in driving 9-seater vans in winter conditions • Day and night photography skills • Safety and first aid • Excellent language proficiency in English • Excellent communication and social skills • Solution-oriented thinking • Willingness to share and learn Desired additional skills • Languages other than English are considered as an advantage, in particular Spanish, French, German, Italian, Mandarin • Good physical health • Practical skills for example in fixing equipment If you have a special interest and knowledge in nature, photography, history, or any other specific field, mention it clearly in your motivation letter. Please mention also if you have any previous experience in office work, and if you are interested in doing some office tasks in addition to guiding. Advanced photography skills are an asset, and your photo portfolio will be your business card to us. Please note that winter is our very high season and Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for our business, hence vacations in this period cannot be granted. Your application must include: • Confirmation that you already have your kjøreseddel • CV Specify which software you are familiar with in photo and film editing and your level of experience. Specify your languages proficiency both spoken and written. • Your motivation letter Plese describe your expectations and motivations, why you are willing to work with us and why you are choosing Tromsø. Please tell us more about your skills, but try to be honest with you and with us. We are curious to know what you like most and least about the job you are applying to and, by the end, we really want to know why you think we could be a match! • Please confirm if you are already in Tromsø • Photography portfolio
