A 2-year 100% scientist position with possibility of elongation for a highly motivated and skilled researcher is available at the Department of Pediatric Research, OUS Rikshospitalet (https://ous-research.no/pediatricresearch/) on a project funded by the Norwegian Cancer Society.
Liquid biopsies leverage circulating molecular structures from body fluids, facilitating a less invasive yet more comprehensive diagnostic approach. Especially for childhood cancer patients it is crucial to obtain temporal and spatial insights that capture the tumor's heterogeneity and evolving structure over time. Peripheral blood is the common source for liquid biopsies; however, in childhood cancer patients, the sample volume is often restricted. In contrast, urine-derived samples are both abundant and harmless. Furthermore, recent technological advances allow for genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and methylation profiling using urine. Circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA), extracellular vesicles (EVs), and circular RNAs (circRNAs) are linked to the onset and progression of cancer, although there remains a knowledge gap for pediatric cancers. We will employ state-of-the-art analytical methods to gain deeper insights into the frequency and composition of cfDNA, the cargo and targets of EVs, and the expression and characteristics of circRNAs. Investigating urine-derived liquid biopsies will enhance our understanding of pediatric cancer biology, thereby contributing to improved diagnostic, monitoring, and therapeutic strategies for these vulnerable patients.
The position is based on cooperation between Dr. Lars O. Baumbusch (Senior scientist and project group leader at PFI, OUS Rikshospitalet and Prof. II at Østfold University of Applied Sciences) and other local, national- and international research environments.

About the position We invite applications for a full time permanent position as Associate Professor in Pharmacoepidemiology and Health Data Analytics at the Section for Pharmaceutics and Social Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy, University of Oslo. About the Department and what they are looking for in this position The Department of Pharmacy at the University of Oslo is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative researcher with strong scientific, educational and collaborative skills in pharmacoepidemiology, health data analytics and real-world evidence generation. The Department has a strong interdisciplinary environment covering key areas of pharmaceutical sciences. Through cutting-edge research, extensive national and international collaborations, and an integrated five-year Master’s programme in Pharmacy, the Department is a leading contributor to pharmaceutical research and education in Norway. We maintain close collaborations with healthcare services, regulatory authorities, public health institutions, and the pharmaceutical and health technology sectors. The successful candidate must be able to teach social pharmacy within the professional pharmacy programme at the Department. The position will be affiliated with the Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety (PharmaSafe) research group in the Section for Pharmaceutics and Social Pharmacy. The research group has extensive experience in pharmacoepidemiology and real-world evidence generation using nationwide Norwegian health registries and population-based cohorts to study use, effectiveness and safety of medications and vaccines. What skills are important in this role? Required qualifications that must be documented in the application:: • The successful applicant must have completed a PhD in pharmacoepidemiology, epidemiology, health data science, biostatistics or closely related discipline. • A master’s degree in pharmacy, medicine, public health or pharmacoepidemiology or an equivalent relevant field. • Documented knowledge of European therapy guidelines and pharmaceutical traditions is required. Desired qualifications: • Strong experience in pharmacoepidemiology, including advanced epidemiological methods and work with large healthcare data sources (e.g. registries, EHRs). • Expertise in health data analytics, including advanced statistical modelling, machine learning and/or artificial intelligence applied to healthcare data. • Experience in regulatory science, pharmacovigilance or real-world evidence generation. • Strong programming skills and experience using statistical software and programming languages commonly applied in health data research, such as R, Python, SAS, SQL or equivalent. • Experience with common data models (e.g. OMOP, EPICORE or similar), large-scale healthcare data infrastructures, and reproducible research practices. • Documented experience in initiating, leading and managing research projects and collaborations. • Experience supervising PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers. • Participation in interdisciplinary research environments and academic leadership roles. • Experience with academic administration or institutional responsibilities. • An established international research network and active collaboration profile. The Swedish Museum of Natural History is a government agency with a mandate to promote knowledge, research and interest in our world. It is a prominent research institution and Sweden's largest museum. For more than 200 years, the museum has been collecting specimens and data and conducting research on life on earth. The collections contain more than 11 million plants, animals, fungi, environmental samples, minerals and fossils. All research and knowledge are shared in the exhibitions, Cosmonova and in activities at the museum and digitally. Applications are invited to a 2-year postdoctoral research position related to a Swedish Research Council funded project Early earth evolution from the first continents to the first life – a microanalytical perspective. The purpose of this field- and laboratory-based project is to is to investigate the Eoarchean gneiss complexes of northern Labrador, Canada and southern west Greenland, some of the most extensive >3.6 Ga regions on the planet, to (1) better constrain the timing of formation and subsequent evolution of the earliest crust preserved on Earth, (2) document the earliest stages of the irreversible differentiation of crustal and mantle geochemical and isotopic domains and (3) test whether any early supracrustal assemblages within these gneiss complexes are truly ancient. The project will utilise novel and innovative high-spatial resolution ion microprobe-based methods, using the CAMECA ims1280 instrument in the NordSIMS facility at the Swedish Museum of Natural History as well as complementary microanalytical facilities at collaborating institutions (University of Western Australia, Polish Academy of Sciences). 1 job(s).
