Mission Brief We deliver the half of the rocket that stays on the ground. As a Senior Fluid Systems Design Engineer at the Ground Systems department of Isar Aerospace, you deliver the ground fluid infrastructure required for safe, reliable, and rapid test and launch of the Spectrum rocket. This includes test-rigs for development, qualification, and acceptance of launch vehicle and propulsion systems as well as entire launch bases. You work hand-in-hand with Propulsion and Launch Vehicle development teams to translate their requirements into functional designs and concepts of operations. You tackle complex engineering challenges across multiple projects and phases – from concept to detail design, execution, commissioning, and handover to site owner and operator. Your Role in Our Space Mission: * Design fluid systems for test and launch facilities, including rocket engine test-rigs, structure pressurization test-rigs, integrated stage testing rigs, launch pads, etc. * Perform sizing calculations and/or numerical simulations for fluid systems, including cryogenic propellants storage, conditioning, and distribution systems, high-pressure gas distribution and pressurization systems, etc. * Select and procure suitable fluid hardware, including tanks, pumps, heat-exchangers, valves, pressure regulators, safety-valves, instrumentation, etc. * Prepare technical documentation, such as PFDs and P&IDs, hardware lists, datasheets, etc. that serve as a basis for manufacturing planning and execution * Lead and contribute to system design reviews and risk assessments, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance * Act as a technical point of contact and subject matter expert for the projects and operations teams, consulting on fluid system questions and decisions * Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to structuring and expanding knowledge in the team with guidelines, checklists, processes, presentations, etc. * Depending on interest and experience: * Lead or support factory and site acceptance tests for fluid systems * Lead or participate in commissioning planning and hands-on site operations * Support test and launch campaigns on-site or remotely with operations or data analyses. Mission Brief We deliver the half of the rocket that stays on the ground. As Senior Specialist, you will be responsible for end-to-end safety & compliance of the company’s ground infrastructure systems according to location and system specific standards. This includes direct and indirect technical involvement in safety & risk assessment processes, as well as component selection and safety system implementations. You are acting as technical lead, also serving in an interfacing function between the different ground system disciplines i.e. fluid, control and mechanical systems. The European Spallation Source (ESS) will soon be the world’s most powerful source of neutrons, providing researchers with unique opportunities to explore the structure of materials at the atomic level. Neutron scattering at ESS will address critical questions in physics, chemistry, geology, materials science and life science. About the Role: ESS is at an exciting turning point, transitioning from a construction site to an operating facility. To help us achieve our goal of becoming the world’s most powerful neutron source, we are seeking a Process Engineer for the Plant & Process Engineering Function, part of the Design & Engineering Division. The team is responsible for maintaining state-of-the-art process activities across ESS. The group will first specify and design process systems such as cooling systems, instrument air and deionized water distribution, in accordance with PED, European harmonized codes, ESS rules and AFS regulations. They will then design the associated piping systems and mechanical supports to prepare for manufacturing, purchasing and installation phases. Finally, the group will help finalize the as-built documentation. Additional tasks include configuring and supporting the AVEVA tool suite, providing engineering review support, and offering technical advice. Day-to-Day you will: Perform system/project preliminary design based on design descriptions and requirements: Prepare specifications and reports, Review design projects, Prepare for and present at preliminary design reviews. Participate in critical process reviews, Document design and group development: Write and/or review process quality requirements, Write and/or review processing licensing requirements, Support standardization activities (components, best practices, and attributes), Propose and implement improvements to procedures, best practices, and policies.
