Brookhaven is one of the largest games on Roblox, enjoyed by millions of players around the world every day. As our Lead Software
Engineer, you'll lead a small engineering team responsible for delivering the features, systems, and technical improvements that
power a live game at massive scale. 🚀
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll drive day-to-day engineering execution—from planning and technical
direction through release and live operations—while mentoring engineers, setting a high bar for quality, and partnering closely

Responsibilities: * Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four analysts embedded across Brookhaven, Driving Empire, and NFL Universe Football, providing clear direction, feedback, and growth opportunities. * Own the analytics function's centralized roadmap covering tooling, instrumentation, automation, and enablement priorities. * Partner with each game team's product manager and analysts to maintain a prioritized backlog of analytics work aligned to their roadmap. * Establish and maintain high standards for analytical methodology across the portfolio, including A/B testing governance, telemetry design, and data storytelling. * Identify and drive opportunities to automate reporting, improve self-serve access to data, and incorporate AI tooling to raise the team's output. * Ensure the team is producing clear, decision-oriented outputs that are trusted by game leads and leadership. * Create systems for knowledge sharing across the analytics team, including regular analysis reviews, shared documentation, reusable templates, cross-game learnings, and opportunities for analysts to present work to one another. Requirements: * 5+ years of experience in analytics or data science, with at least 2 years managing or leading an analytics team. * Demonstrated ability to develop analysts at multiple levels, with a track record of raising the quality and impact of a team's output. * Deep expertise in A/B testing and experimentation: hypothesis design, power analysis, statistical significance, and communicating results to non-technical stakeholders. * Advanced SQL skills and fluency across a modern data stack including data warehousing, BI tooling, and analytics engineering. * Strong understanding of consumer product KPIs, particularly retention, engagement, and monetization in a live service or F2P context. * Clear point of view on where AI and automation can improve how an analytics team operates, with experience driving adoption. * Excellent cross-functional communication skills; able to translate data into decisions for both technical and executive audiences. Nice to Have: * Experience in games, particularly live service, mobile F2P, or UGC platforms such as Roblox or Fortnite. * Familiarity with dbt for analytics engineering and data modeling. * Python proficiency for deeper analysis or automation. Bonus Points for: * Familiarity with Roblox as a platform, either as a developer, analyst, or player. * Experience working with licensed IP in a gaming context. ROLE OVERVIEW 🏎️ Driving Empire is one of the largest driving games on Roblox, with billions of visits and a passionate global community. We're looking for a 3D Generalist to help shape the world players explore every day—from houses and city environments to props, roads, event spaces, and partnership content. In this role, you'll create high-quality, performant 3D assets that align with Driving Empire's distinctive visual style while meeting the technical demands of a live Roblox experience. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES A UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance is required for this role. As a Software Engineer, you will help lead the development of backend services for a government client leveraging the latest commercial and open-source technologies. This involves designing, developing, documenting and deploying backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency and scalability. * Design, develop, document and deploy new or enhanced features to our backend services that meet functional / non-functional business requirements * Actively participate in the team’s elaboration and estimation of user stories * Build frequent, small releases to maintain the team’s momentum * Collaborate closely with other engineers in our cross-functional feature teams; ensuring that others can cover for you, and that you can cover for them * Build, optimise and operate our Continuous Deployment pipelines * Maintain operational responsibility for the services that your team owns CORE COMPETENCIES The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or greater in Computer Science or a related field. An equivalent of at least 5 years of working experience in a developer capacity is also acceptable for this position. You will have demonstrated the following competencies to the proficiency level appropriate to the seniority of the role; * JAVA programming experience as the core language, including Spring Boot. * Fluent in writing JAVA coding. * Experience with Kafka or a similar platform. * Experience with Scala and Spark. * Integrating with backing services, such as PostgreSQL, Redis or S3 * Good engineering practices including continuous delivery, clean code, documentation, defensive programming, automated testing and code reviews * Working in Agile development and/or DevOps teams * Using GitHub/GitLab for source control * Test Driven Development with appropriate tools and frameworks * Experience in Big Data technologies * Experience in Public Cloud services, such as AWS Aker Systems Attributes At Aker we work as a team; we are collaborative, hardworking, open, and delivery obsessed.
