GitLab is building the most comprehensive AI-powered DevSecOps platform, and this role will help shape how teams move from
planning to code in an AI-native software development lifecycle.
As Senior Product Manager, Plan to Code, you'll shape how planning and managing source code will evolve in an AI-native software
development lifecycle. This role is focused on bringing planning and code closer together, so teams can move from requirements and
specifications to commits, merge requests, and customer value with speed and quality.
This area is evolving quickly. We're exploring how AI agents can use specifications, context, and human feedback to build the
right thing, not just build the thing right. You'll help define new product experiences that support spec-driven development,
human-in-the-loop workflows, and a more seamless handoff from planning to coding.
This is an ambiguous, high-impact opportunity for a product manager who has strong software development lifecycle knowledge, is
comfortable working with technical teams, and wants to help create something new in DevSecOps.

This role sits within the Product organization and will work closely with teams across Plan, Source Code Management, Code Review,
and AI. We are focused on helping GitLab customers plan, build, and deliver software in a faster, more connected way.
You'll join a group that is rethinking how planning and coding should work as AI changes the speed and shape of software
development. Rather than treating planning, coding, and review as separate stages, we're exploring how to bring these workflows
closer together so humans and agents can collaborate more effectively.
Please note that we welcome interest from candidates with varying levels of experience; many successful candidates do not meet
every single requirement. Additionally, studies have shown that people from underrepresented groups are less likely to apply to a
job unless they meet every single qualification. If you're excited about this role, please apply and allow our recruiters to
assess your application.

AN OVERVIEW OF THIS ROLE As a Senior Manager of Product Management, you will lead one of GitLab's most strategic product portfolios: Agentic Software Delivery, spanning Continuous Integration, Artifact Management, Continuous Deployment, and Observability. This is a people leadership role. You will guide senior, domain-expert product managers and define how these connected areas evolve as AI agents take on more of the execution work in building, testing, shipping, and monitoring software. Today these are treated as separate stages with a human making the call at each handoff. That model is changing. As agents write more of the code and take on more of the pipeline and deployment work, the real product challenge shifts to how much of that judgment the system can make on its own, safely, and how quickly a production signal turns into a fix without waiting on a human to notice it first. You will own the product vision for that shift and for how customers move from today's manual checkpoints toward more agent-driven ones, at whatever pace fits their risk tolerance. In your first year, you will set direction across this portfolio, strengthen alignment with engineering and go to market partners, and give GitLab customers a clearer path for managing software delivery at scale. This role suits a product leader who can connect technical strategy, commercial outcomes, and team development while influencing across a broad part of GitLab's platform. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Lead a team of senior and principal product managers across Continuous Integration, Artifact Management, Continuous Deployment, and Observability, providing strategic direction, coaching, and support. * Define the product strategy and long-term vision for GitLab's Agentic Software Delivery portfolio, with a clear point of view on how AI is changing software delivery workflows. * Connect portfolio decisions across build, package, deploy, and monitor experiences so the customer journey is coherent across the platform. * Collaborate with engineering leadership on platform investments, architectural direction, and trade-offs across the portfolio. * Drive pricing, packaging, and go-to-market alignment with product marketing, sales, pricing, customer success, and solutions engineering to support commercial growth across the portfolio. * Use customer insight and product data, including usage telemetry, retention signals, and adoption patterns, to guide roadmap prioritization and improve product adoption and retention. * Champion migration and adoption paths that help existing customers move from current workflows to more advanced CI/CD and AI-enabled delivery models, increasing adoption across the platform. * Model AI-native product management by using AI tools for discovery, synthesis, prototyping, roadmap exploration, and product concept development, while guiding the team to do the same. WHAT YOU’LL BRING * Experience leading product managers in a people leadership role, including setting direction, mentoring senior talent, and maintaining a high bar for product management. * Hands-on product management experience in one or more relevant domains such as CI/CD pipelines, artifact or package management, release management, or observability. * Ability to own a broad portfolio across multiple product areas and align teams around a shared product vision and execution model. * Technical fluency to work credibly with engineers and architects on topics such as pipeline design, artifact workflows, deployment strategies, and observability signals like logs, metrics, and traces. * Experience working with technical customers in developer tools, DevOps, or software delivery environments where engineers and engineering leaders are primary users. * Comfort with pricing and packaging decisions for technical products, including working across free, commercial, and enterprise offerings. * Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to align executives, cross-functional partners, and customers around a clear strategy. * Practical use of AI tools in product management workflows, along with a thoughtful view on how AI and agentic workflows are changing software delivery. We welcome candidates whose experience may come from different but transferable product and leadership paths. ABOUT THE TEAM We bring together senior product leaders across GitLab’s software delivery platform and work closely with engineering, design, and go-to-market partners to ensure customers experience these capabilities as one connected system. We help customers manage today’s delivery complexity while shaping how AI-powered and AI-native workflows influence the next generation of software delivery. As part of GitLab’s all-remote organization, we collaborate asynchronously across regions with a strong focus on transparency, written communication, and clear decision-making. AN OVERVIEW OF THIS ROLE We are seeking a Staff Product Manager to serve as an internal PM embedded within this team. This is not a traditional external-facing product role—it is an internal platform product leadership position. You will own the roadmap for our enterprise systems, act as the strategic voice of the business within engineering, and bring senior product craft to a team of Analysts and engineers who build and operate GitLab's revenue infrastructure. This role is ideal for a seasoned product leader who has deep Quote-to-Cash or Finance domain knowledge, thrives at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, and is energized by mentoring high-performing teams through complex, multi-program environments. WHAT YOU’LL DO Internal Product Roadmap Ownership * Define, own, and maintain the multi-quarter internal product roadmap for QTC and Finance Systems, covering Salesforce CPQ, Zuora Billing, Zuora Revenue, NetSuite, and the CDot metering platform. * Translate business strategy from Finance, Revenue Operations, Deal Desk, and Sales into sequenced, prioritized system capabilities with clear outcomes and success metrics. * Balance competing program demands—stabilization, net-new capability delivery, and technical debt reduction—with transparent trade-off frameworks. * Drive quarterly and annual planning ceremonies, partnering with Engineering Managers and Business Systems Analysts to align capacity with roadmap commitments. Stakeholder Partnership & Requirements Translation * Serve as the primary internal product voice for all QTC and Finance Systems initiatives, partnering closely with Finance, Accounting, Revenue Operations, Deal Desk, and Legal. * Lead discovery, requirements workshops, and business process design sessions to translate complex financial and commercial requirements into actionable system specifications. * Own the decision layer between "what the business needs" and "what engineering builds," resolving ambiguity with structured frameworks and documented decisions. * Navigate cross-functional stakeholder dynamics including SOX compliance, audit controls, and revenue recognition governance (ASC 606/IFRS 15). Team Mentorship & Capability Building * Act as a product craft mentor and senior thought partner for the BSA team, actively upskilling analysts in product thinking, requirements structuring, acceptance criteria definition, and roadmap communication. * Model and instill product management best practices—user story writing, prioritization frameworks (e.g., RICE, MoSCoW), sprint review discipline, and outcome tracking—across the team. * Partner with leadership to evolve the operating model of the team from project-execution-focused to product-thinking-led, raising the bar for how ETA delivers business value. * Provide structured feedback and growth coaching to BSAs on career development, helping analysts grow toward senior and lead levels. Program Strategy & Delivery Oversight * Lead product strategy for major multi-quarter programs (e.g., consumption-based billing iterations, CLM/Order Forms, Zuora Product Catalog refactors, ERP optimization) from discovery through go-live. * Define and maintain program-level dependency maps across concurrent workstreams, surfacing risks early and driving cross-team resolution. * Own UAT strategy and acceptance criteria in collaboration with BSAs, ensuring system changes meet business requirements before production release. * Support post-launch stabilization and continuous improvement cycles, prioritizing defect resolution and incremental enhancements based on business impact. Systems Architecture Collaboration * Partner with Enterprise Architects and Engineering Managers to evaluate build-vs-buy-vs-configure decisions for new capabilities. * Bring informed opinions on QTC platform architecture trade-offs (e.g., billing model design, middleware integration patterns, revenue recognition rule configuration) based on deep domain knowledge. * Stay current on platform roadmaps for Salesforce, Zuora, and NetSuite, identifying opportunities to leverage native capabilities before custom builds. WHAT YOU’LL BRING * 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in an internal platform PM, enterprise applications PM, or systems product leadership role. * Deep domain expertise in Quote-to-Cash systems: Salesforce CPQ, Zuora Billing, Zuora Revenue, and NetSuite ERP are the core stack—hands-on configuration or implementation experience strongly preferred. * Demonstrated ability to own and communicate multi-quarter internal product roadmaps to senior business and technology stakeholders. * Strong command of revenue lifecycle processes: opportunity-to-quote, order management, billing and collections, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial close. * Experience operating in a SOX-controlled environment with an understanding of audit trails, approval workflows, and change management requirements for financial systems. * Track record of successfully running complex, multi-program delivery environments with competing priorities and shared engineering resources. * Sufficient technical fluency to engage meaningfully with engineering on API design, data model decisions, and integration trade-offs—without needing to write code. * Experience with consumption-based or usage-based billing models ABOUT THE TEAM You'll be joining the Revenue Lifecycle & Finance Systems team within GitLab's Enterprise Technology Architecture organization. Our team is responsible for the systems and processes that power GitLab's entire revenue lifecycle—from configure-price-quote through contract execution, billing, revenue recognition, and financial close. We are in an exciting and demanding phase: transitioning GitLab's go-to-market from a pure subscription model toward consumption-based offerings while simultaneously modernizing our core platforms. This role will be central to shaping how that evolution happens—and how the team grows in capability and product maturity alongside it.
