We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam. The Investor Relations (IR) function is responsible for shaping Plaid's equity story, building long-term relationships across private and public market investors, and positioning Plaid for success in the capital markets, on whatever timeline that takes. You will build and own this function as a team of one, architecting our IR strategy for where we are today as a late-stage private company and evolving it through a potential IPO and beyond. You will partner closely with Finance, Legal, Marketing, Communications, and the executive team to develop a world-class disclosure framework, craft a durable equity narrative, and serve as the primary voice to current and prospective investors. We're looking for someone who brings both rigor and imagination to this role, someone who challenges conventional approaches and finds creative ways to make Plaid's story land with the people who matter most. RESPONSIBILITIES * Equity Story & Capital Markets Readiness — Shape Plaid's long-term equity narrative anchored on durable growth, capital efficiency, and profitability levers. Lead development of core investor materials — business overviews, investor presentations, and roadshow-style content — built to hold up over years, not just quarters. Maintain a private-company-appropriate disclosure posture today while building the infrastructure and habits that will translate cleanly to a public company environment. * Investor Engagement — Build and manage relationships across private market investors (current cap table holders, late-stage growth funds) and prospective public market investors and sell-side analysts. Develop a proactive engagement calendar including 1-on-1s, conferences, and other touch points, calibrated to where Plaid is today and where it's headed. Support liquidity events for current shareholders, namely employees, as Plaid moves toward and through a public listing. * Financial & Regulatory Communication — Drive preparation of investor materials, including earnings scripts, decks, Q&A prep, calibrated to the right disclosure standard for our stage. Establish disclosure policies that will meet SEC and global regulatory requirements at IPO, building toward that standard before we need it. Develop an investor-specific crisis-communications playbook. * Guidance & Expectations Management — Define Plaid's guidance philosophy, annual vs. quarterly cadence, GAAP vs. non-GAAP framing, in advance of becoming a public reporting company. Monitor investor sentiment, track comparable company narratives, and proactively identify disconnects between market expectations and Plaid's trajectory. * Market Intelligence & Feedback Loop — Monitor peer performance, macro trends, and policy developments relevant to fintech and B2B technology. Translate investor feedback into actionable insights for leadership, closing the loop between what the market hears and what we communicate. * Automation, Process & Function Building — Implement IR tooling, dashboards, and automation to streamline reporting, sentiment analysis, and investor targeting that is built for scale despite lean resourcing. Define the future-state IR org and, over time, scope and hire incremental headcount to expand capacity. QUALIFICATIONS * 10+ years in Investor Relations, equity research, investment banking, private equity, or strategic finance, with significant experience in B2B technology or fintech. * Deep fluency in the metrics that drive software businesses — ARR, NRR, LTV/CAC, gross margin, Rule of X, and free cash flow — and the ability to translate them into clear, compelling narratives for a range of investor audiences. * Experience engaging both private market investors (venture, late-stage growth, secondaries) and public market investors or sell-side analysts. Understanding the distinct mindsets, incentives, and communication norms of each is a must. * Demonstrated success operating autonomously, as analyst, storyteller, project manager, and spokesperson, often at the same time. * Proven ability to communicate regulatory and policy topics to investors in highly regulated industries. * A creative, unconventional thinker. You don't default to the standard IR playbook, you ask whether there's a better way to tell the story, a more compelling format for an investor day, or a sharper angle on a metric that changes how the market sees us. * Track record of implementing automation, AI, or CRM tooling to scale outreach and data gathering. * Executive presence and exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam. The Role The EPD Finance function is a strategic partner to Plaid’s world-class Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) organization. The team owns product-level revenue and gross margin forecasting, R&D investment planning, and the analytical frameworks that guide how Plaid deploys capital — and serves as a critical voice in long-range strategic and capital allocation decisions. As Head of EPD Finance, you will work closely with Engineering, Product, Design, GTM, Data, Accounting, and the Executive team to ensure our R&D engine and product portfolio deliver durable, compounding returns. You will report directly to the CFO and act as the primary finance partner to our CPO and CTO — their go-to thought partner on strategy, resource allocation, and execution across the EPD organization. You will inherit a lean, talented team with plans to scale appropriately over time. RESPONSIBILITIES * Revenue & Gross Margin Forecasting — Build product-level forecasts that accurately predict Plaid’s topline performance in the near and mid-term. Construct long-term forecasts that balance bottoms-up and top-down methodologies to help size Plaid’s commercial opportunity 3–5 years into the future. * Resource Allocation — Partner with the CPO and CTO on capital deployment, including headcount planning by key function and team, capacity modeling that maps directly to the product roadmap, the EPD AI tooling approach, and scenario planning. Identify opportunities to optimize COGS and opex in ways that increase velocity, while remaining disciplined on costs. * Performance Visibility & Tracking — Own EPD performance tracking and reporting. Ensure we focus on the highest-signal metrics, including service delivery to customers. Partner with Data teams on data hygiene, timeliness, and the granularity needed to inform decisions across EPD and the broader business. * Cross-functional Partnership — Build trusted relationships across the company, acting as the connective tissue between EPD and the rest of the business — and especially between Product and GTM, where you’ll provide counsel and analytical support on cross-functional priorities. * Board Reporting — Own the Product narrative for quarterly Board meetings: business performance, strategic progress against near- and long-term goals, and a forward-looking perspective — synthesized into compelling, executive-ready materials. * Team Building — Define the future-state of the EPD Finance team and execute against it. Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing team capable of operating at the pace and complexity of a scaled growth-stage business. Be a strong collaborator with peer Finance leads, and set the example for how your team partners with the rest of the Finance org. QUALIFICATIONS * 15+ years in Finance, with a background spanning management consulting, investment banking, private equity, or strategic finance at a high-growth technology company * Deep fluency in product P&L finance — you can move fluidly between product-level revenue forecasting, gross margin analysis, headcount and capacity planning, and software economics without losing the narrative thread * Exceptional analytical rigor paired with sharp business judgment — you know when the model needs more work and when it’s time to make a call * A genuine builder with a player-coach approach: you’re energized by defining what “great” looks like and building the team and systems to get there * Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing finance teams * Executive presence and exceptional communication skills — written, verbal, and visual — with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, technical leaders, and Board-level audiences * Prior experience partnering with engineering and product leaders is a strong plus; fintech or financial services experience is a plus, but not required Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. We’re looking for an experienced Legal Operations Lead to scale and run the systems, processes, tools, and budget that power Plaid’s legal and compliance team. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Legal, you’ll own the legal and compliance team’s technology strategy and roadmap, the team’s budget and outside counsel spend, vendor management, data and reporting, and other high-impact cross-functional initiatives that move the team forward. You’ll also have the opportunity to continue developing one Commercial Legal focused Legal Operations team member, who is responsible for day-to-day contracting operations. As Plaid keeps growing, our legal systems, operations, and budget discipline are going to matter more and more, and you’ll be at the center of shaping how that looks. You’re a proactive and creative problem-solver who spots process gaps before others see them and builds scalable fixes. You’ve owned a legal budget and outside counsel spend, managed legal vendors, and led legal tech decisions. You’ve done the hands-on commercial contracting work earlier in your career (Ironclad, AI contract tools, the whole stack), and you know it well enough to guide someone else through it. At this point, you’re just as excited about setting strategy, growing a teammate, and operating at the program level as you are about running day-to-day workflows yourself. You’re a clear, empathetic communicator who can cut through complexity, bring people along through change, and build credible partnerships across the org. And you bring data to the table when you diagnose problems, set priorities, and measure impact. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love turning messy operational problems into clean, scalable solutions, and get energy from helping a legal and compliance team do its best work, we’d love to talk to you! Responsibilities: * Legal Technology & AI Strategy. Set the strategy, governance, and roadmap for the legal and compliance team’s tech stack, with a real focus on how AI changes the way Legal works. Take what we’ve already built with tools like Claude for Legal and Harvey and drive us into the next phase: deeper integration into day-to-day workflows; broader rollout to more use cases (contracting, research, knowledge management, intake, drafting); and measurable productivity gains. Sharpen our point of view on where AI delivers the most leverage, set the guardrails and quality bar for how the team uses these tools, partner closely with Business Operations on Plaid-wide end-to-end integrations, and make sure our tech investments are actually paying off. * Legal Budget & Outside Counsel Spend. Own the legal and compliance team’s budget, including legal billing operations and outside counsel spend. Build and enforce outside counsel billing guidelines in Brightflag, partner with Finance on forecasting and accruals, and continue to bring real discipline to how we manage legal spend. * Data, Metrics & Reporting. Build dashboards and tracking that give us real visibility into legal and compliance team performance, contracting throughput, and spend. Use the data to surface trends and risks, drive continuous improvement, and partner with the Head of Commercial Legal on regular reporting to leadership. * People Leadership & Development. Coach and develop the Commercial Legal–focused Legal Operations team member who reports to this role. That means investing in and setting clear expectations for their growth so they keep developing as a legal ops professional while running day-to-day commercial contracting. You’ll be their manager, mentor, and advocate, and a big part of how you’ll be measured is how much they grow. * Legal Vendor Management. Manage Plaid’s legal vendor relationships, outside counsel, and the platforms that make up our legal tech stack. This includes our Ironclad CLM, Brightflag billing platform, Discern corporate registered agent services, and our e-discovery tools at Logikcull and Reveal. Run intake, evaluation, onboarding, performance, and renewal so we’re consistently getting the right value from each one. * Program Management & Enablement. Drive the cross-functional programs that keep Legal moving well (new tooling rollouts, process changes, and enablement training), partnering with Sales, Product, Finance, Business Operations, and other teams to land them well. You’ll unblock the team on complex or escalated process questions, build on our strong partnerships with our key stakeholders, and make sure legal and compliance workflows stay well-integrated with the broader tech, budget, and reporting programs you own. Qualifications: * 7+ years in legal operations at a high-growth company, including direct experience running contracting operations earlier in your career. Strong program management, cross-functional leadership, and people management chops. * You’ve owned a legal budget and managed outside counsel spend before, including running a spend management and e-billing platform, writing and enforcing outside counsel billing guidelines, and partnering with Finance on forecasting and accruals. * Experience managing legal vendor and outside counsel relationships across evaluation, onboarding, performance, and renewal. * Deep, hands-on expertise administering a CLM platform (Ironclad strongly preferred), including workflow configuration, template management, and integrations (Salesforce in particular). Plus real experience running legal-focused AI tools (Claude for Legal, Harvey, GC.AI) in production: not just piloting them, but scaling adoption, building the guardrails and quality controls, and showing the productivity gains. This expertise is the foundation for the role. You won’t be running day-to-day commercial contracting yourself, but you’ll set the tech strategy and guide the person who does. * Clear, empathetic communicator who can cut through complexity, bring stakeholders along, guide teams through change, and build credible partnerships across the org. * You turn operational problems into structured, scalable solutions using technology, process design, and systems thinking, and you let data inform how you diagnose issues, set priorities, and measure impact. Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable.
