We are seeking an experienced Nuclear HVAC and Ventilation System Engineer to lead the design and development of safety-critical
ventilation systems for nuclear facilities.
This is a rare opportunity to define the safety-critical ventilation architecture for one of the first advanced SMRs moving toward
licensing and deployment in Europe and the US. You will work within one of our engineering teams in a multicultural and
multidisciplinary stimulating environment, where you will be responsible for establishing the complete design framework—from
deriving top-level requirements from international codes and standards through basic and detailed design phases.
This role requires deep expertise in translating regulatory guidelines (IAEA, SSM, and other nuclear codes) into actionable system
requirements while applying rigorous systems engineering principles to ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Reliable and accurate instrumentation is fundamental to the safe operation of any nuclear power plant. As Blykalla develops its lead-cooled SMR technology, we are building an in-house instrumentation capability to define, specify, and integrate the measurement systems that provide the data required for plant control, protection, monitoring, diagnostics, and regulatory compliance. We are seeking a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to lead the specification, integration, and lifecycle management of instrumentation systems for Blykalla's lead-cooled SMR. This role will be responsible for defining instrumentation requirements, ensuring that measurement systems meet the demanding requirements of reactor operation while working closely with automation, control systems, electrical, mechanical, process, and safety engineers. WHO YOU’LL GET TO WORK WITH The Senior Instrumentation Engineer sits in the Plant Engineering Team within Blykalla, and reports to the Plant engineering manager. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Instrumentation System Design * Develop the instrumentation philosophy for Blykalla's reactor and plant systems. * Specify instrumentation for Nuclear Island and supporting plant systems. * Select and specify sensors, transmitters, analyzers, and field devices suitable for nuclear applications. * Develop standard instrumentation specifications and engineering guidelines. * Ensure instrumentation designs are maintainable, reliable, and support plant availability objectives. Measurement System Engineering Develop instrumentation solutions for measurement of temperature, pressure, differential pressure, flow, level, density, vibration, position, speed, radiation (where applicable) and chemistry and process analyzers. Support instrumentation for reactor systems, primary coolant systems, heat transport systems, steam and energy conversion systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, water treatment systems and fuel handling systems. Instrumentation Documentation Develop and maintain instrument data sheets, instrument index, I/O lists, hook-up drawings, instrument location plans, installation specifications, instrument specifications, calibration requirements and inspection and test plans. Support development of P&IDs, functional descriptions, cause-and-effect matrices, instrument loop diagrams and control philosophies. System Integration Work closely with automation, control systems, electrical, mechanical, process, reactor and safety engineers to ensure instrumentation supports plant operation, protection, diagnostics, and maintenance. Define interfaces between field instrumentation and plant DCS, PLC, and protection systems. Vendor & Engineering Partner Management * Develop technical specifications for instrumentation packages. * Evaluate vendor proposals. * Review engineering partner deliverables. * Support procurement activities. * Participate in supplier technical meetings. * Ensure compliance with Blykalla requirements and applicable codes and standards. Testing & Commissioning * Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) * Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) * Instrument calibration * Loop checks * Commissioning activities * Functional testing * Performance verification * Assist in developing maintenance and calibration strategies for operational plants. What You’ll Get to Do As Senior Systems Engineer – Verification & Validation, you will define and support how technologies mature across the SEALER portfolio. You will establish the framework that connects Technology Readiness, verification and validation approaches, and product development milestones into a coherent and traceable system. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the development of the electrical power system architecture for Blykalla's lead-cooled SMR plants. This role combines hands-on power system engineering with technical leadership and systems integration. You will be responsible for developing the electrical design basis for the plant, performing and overseeing power system studies, defining requirements for external engineering partners, and ensuring that delivered designs meet Blykalla's technical, operational, safety, and licensing requirements.
