Since 2021 our team has been listed every year in the “Top 100 Startups worth watching” in the EE Times, and our technology
breakthroughs have been featured in The Telegraph, BBC and the New Statesman. Our founders are internationally renowned
researchers from UCL and Oxford University who have pioneered the development of qubits and quantum computing architectures. Our
chairman is the co-founder of Cadence and Synopsys, the two leading companies in the area of Electronic Design Automation. We’re
backed by a team of top-tier investors, and we have recently closed our Series C funding of $160 million.
We bring together the brightest quantum engineers, integrated circuit (IC) engineers, quantum computing theoreticians and software
engineers to create a unique, world-leading team, working together closely to maximise our combined expertise. Our collaborative
and interdisciplinary culture is an ideal fit for anyone who thrives in a cutting-edge research and development environment
focused on tackling big challenges and contributing to the development of scalable quantum computers based on silicon technology.
Our team of 110+ is based in the UK (Oxford and London), Australia (Sydney), Spain (San Sebastián) and the US.
The role will require the individual to maintain and develop in-house software stack for efficient data acquisition and analysis
by hardware teams within the company. This role will also include refactoring, writing and testing software which interfaces with
test and measurement hardware. The role sits within the Intelligent Automation team, whose goal is to transform the automation of
key parts of both the characterisation and operation of the quantum processor and its constituent parts. No background in quantum
physics is required. The role will engage tightly with the Quantum Hardware Team, who specialise in designing, validating and
operating quantum processors based on silicon industrial technology.
This role forms part of our investment in state-of-the art facilities in Sydney, Australia. It reflects our commitment to driving
innovation and collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the quantum industry, and additionally taps into Australia’s
strongest semiconductor and cryogenic ecosystem. Our mission is global and this is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a team
which is shaping the future of quantum computing.
As part of our lean, high-impact and rapidly growing team, you will be working closely with our scientists, engineers and experts
in a dynamic environment to make the site run smoothly and compliantly from day one, dedicated to contributing to the development
of scalable quantum computers based on silicon technology.
Please note that this is a hybrid role, typically requiring 60% on-site attendance. Due to the nature of the role, a fully remote
work pattern cannot be considered.

We're building a system that represents domain knowledge as modular probabilistic models — making analysis rigorous and transparent. Users can connect these models flexibly into larger structures. The system enforces consistency across them, and propagates uncertainty through each step. Our first applications are in finance and scientific research, with use cases ranging from equity valuation and distress monitoring, to particle physics. We are looking for Product Software Engineers with experience in the commercialization of research software. You will contribute to the productization of our system, by developing use-case demos that clearly demonstrate its strengths and unique value. Tasks will focus on implementing applications from quantitative domains (financial analysis, physics simulation) within the framework of our system, identifying the unique strengths of our system and developing showcase demos. You will also contribute to, identifying limitations, closing gaps and helping improve the product based on these insights. USEFUL EXPERIENCE * Experience in turning research software into product * Applied mathematical modeling in finance and/or scientific applications * Experience in a collaborative, commercial software engineering environment, working on large codebases and using practices like CI/CD, testing, and code reviews * Strong foundation in computer science algorithms and data structures * Julia, or usage of some more functional or typed languages, e.g. Rust, OCaml, Clojure, C++, or Haskell * Profiling and performance optimisation * Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistics advanced degree RESPONSIBILITIES * Work with product team to define new features * Define implementation strategies, and work with others to implement them * Deliver defined features with a user oriented mindset * Leverage the expertise of other team members effectively * Write design documents for more complex problems * Write clean and performant code * Help other team members to deliver on their goals REQUIRED MINDSET We've found that our successful team members share some key characteristics, and as we've grown our team, these are the qualities we've learned to seek out. We take pride in our strong, collaborative culture, and these core attributes not only reflect our shared values, but can help you evaluate how well you might fit into our team: * A builder at heart: You’re passionate about building things, solving complex problems, and approaching challenges with an entrepreneurial spirit and humility. Your sharp sense of prioritisation gives you a laser focus on delivering results that uplift the entire team, moving us closer to our goal. * Results-driven: You thrive when taking full ownership of tasks, seeing them through from start to finish, and taking accountability for the results. You’re proactive, resourceful, and avoid over-complication - anticipating problems, even in complex, uncertain environments. * Growth mindset: You are intellectually curious, have a critical mind, and seek opportunities to stretch your abilities. You explore the state-of-the-art, you dig deep to truly understand a problem, and question assumptions. * A strong collaborator: You naturally communicate with clarity and purpose, ensuring your ideas and updates are easily understood. You work efficiently, embracing an iterative approach that allows for frequent progress and course correction. You’re open to direct feedback, adapting quickly and using it to improve both your work, and the performance of those around you. * Approaching problems and tasks like a project manager: * You can take a given goal and break it down into smaller parts. * You can solve problems systematically, by yourself as well as collaboratively with others. * You involve others in effective problem-solving sessions because you value getting to the best solution over being right. * You document processes well to ensure others can jump in to collaborate effectively.
