stronger beginning with you. Essential Functions: Directs, supervises, and monitors membership operations and program activities
to meet YMCA objectives and adhere to state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Develops, monitors and effectively
forecasts program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Establishes new membership activities, increases membership and member
retention, and promotes the Y within the community in accordance with Association/Branch strategic and operating plans. Compiles
membership statistics. Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of membership sales and retention efforts. Recruits, hires, trains,
develops, schedules, directs, and motivates personnel and volunteers. Develops strategies to motivate staff and volunteers to
achieve goals. Reviews and evaluates staff and volunteer performance. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and
complete. Develops and nurtures collaborative relationships with community organizations. Engages volunteers and assists with
volunteer committee meetings. Actively participates in and supports the goals of the Annual Campaign through building
relationships, engaging volunteers, and carrying out other assigned fund-raising duties. Participates and contributes towards the
goals of program task teams, and other assigned committees of the Association. Performs membership and member service desk duties
as needed. May conduct Member Service trainings. Conducts and maintains accurate membership records including Membership and Bank
Draft Records, office supplies for MSD, member records, banking records, etc. Creates and schedules Membership Service Staff
including Front Desk staff and Managers on Duty. Maintains working knowledge of other branch departments and provides responsive
service to requests from members, program members and community partners of those other departments as well. Assists in the
marketing and distribution of program information. Ensures marketing materials comply with Y branding guidelines and uses Y Voice
to effectively tell the YMCA story. Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and assists with special events. Monitors
and assists in the maintenance of a clean and sanitary membership service environment and meets all state and local licensing
requirements. Inspects equipment within Membership area for safety hazards, damage, or wear. Communicates to executive director
any suggestions concerns or incidents that may need follow-up. Increases member and program participant awareness of healthy
lifestyle factors. Upholds guidelines of Director on Duty responsibilities, remains visible to participants when on duty.
Qualifications: A 2-year college degree or applicable experience is required; Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
strongly preferred. One year minimum of supervisory experience is strongly preferred. 3 years of experience in customer service;
sales experience strongly preferred. Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable drivers record according to the YMCA’s
insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors
and suppliers, etc. Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn
the internal YMCA software .
Job Purpose: The Membership Director, Asia is responsible for overseeing the development, acquisition, and retention of Soho House members across Asia, including Soho House Hong Kong, Soho House Mumbai, Soho House Bangkok and Soho House Tokyo. This role drives membership growth, leads and manages the membership team, ensures a high standard of member experience, and significantly contributes to the overall success of the business in Asia. The Director will work very closely with regional and global teams to meet quarterly membership targets, build and nurture a vibrant member community across the region, and ensure the membership experience reflects Soho House's unique creative spirit. They will have strong communication and leadership skills, and proven ability to work across multiple regions and cultures. Main Responsibilities Membership Recruitment & Retention * Deliver the full membership budget each year, in line with weekly revenue targets and delivering on the full quarterly and annual target for both new application approvals and member retention. * Make strategic decisions and adjustments throughout the year to help achieve this if certain Houses fall short or can exceed. * Drive regional membership growth by leveraging extensive personal networks within the creative industries. * Work with the Heads of Membership to create and deliver extensive membership strategies for each House that are put into play and monitored throughout the year, that have two main components around Acquisition and Retention. * Manage and lead the membership teams closely, ensuring clear plans, communication and collaboration with House and Regional level leadership * Ensure member outreach and approvals/member demographic at the Houses represents our member diversity metrics for each House, looking to focus on those demographics which are disproportionately underrepresented. * Partner with the Member Events team in each House to ensure engaging event programming that can either generate new applications (acquisition) or make members value their membership (retention). * Take a strategic and strongly managed approach to strengthen Membership Committees, enhancing the productivity and profile of all members. * Collect, analyse, and act on retention metrics, alongside member survey data, to continuously improve member satisfaction and identify growth opportunities. * Work with the Member Success Team to drive retention programmes across the region, local to each House and that specifically target members at highest risk of leaving. * Work closely with the Cities Without Houses team across Asia to ensure aligned membership and event strategies, supporting common goals and maximising key moments across the region. Team Leadership & Management * In close partnership with House level General Managers, lead all membership teams in the Houses. Provide and manage clear roles and responsibilities for each individual in the team. * Recruit, lead, and inspire a high-performing membership team across Asia that represents our membership profile. * Set performance goals and provide mentorship to ensure the team excels in delivering targets, high quality members and an exceptional membership experience. Provide regular feedback and direction to team members. * Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and results-driven team culture Committee Development & Oversight * Build, grow, and manage Membership Committees, ensuring they are balanced in terms of age, ethnicity, gender, industry, and experience. Base this on the House Identity Plans and existing data we have on member demographic. * Motivate and engage committee members to actively participate in the membership process, ensuring all Committees across Asia propose 40% of House approvals. * Use tracking metrics to regularly review the composition and effectiveness of Committees to maintain high performance, removing/changing members where needed and adopting new approaches to deliver new members. Membership Quality Control * Oversee the membership application process to ensure all approved members meet Soho House’s standards of quality and creativity. * Maintain a consistent and high calibre of membership across the region, reinforcing the brand’s reputation. Member Introductions & Administration * Ensure all administrative processes for membership applications and renewals are handled efficiently and accurately. * Work with the local teams to ensure all new members across the region receive an Introduction. In some places host member introduction sessions to set the standard and guide the teams, providing new members with a comprehensive orientation to the Soho House experience. * Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a seamless member journey from application to onboarding. * Work cross functionally to deliver engagement strategies for new members in their first year to improve Y1 retention figures. Local Networking & Outreach * Actively engage in networking and outreach within the creative industries to build relationships with influential local figures, creatives, and opinion leaders. * Enhance brand awareness through strategic local partnerships and community engagement. * Serve as a key ambassador for Soho House, fostering goodwill and strengthening the regional membership base. Member Conduct & Behaviour Management * Lead efforts to address member behaviour issues in your region, working closely with the team to handle sensitive conversations. * Document and follow up on any behavioural or conduct-related concerns promptly and professionally. * Ensure all member-related issues, including conduct and behaviour, are managed consistently and in line with Soho House policies working with the MBC (Membership Behaviour Committee)/Legal/P&D teams. New House Openings * Partner with global teams including the CWH and Member Events teams to ensure the smooth and successful launch of all new Houses. * Oversee membership recruitment and local engagement strategies for new openings, ensuring the right community is built from the start. House Presence & Member Engagement * Spend time in all the Houses, throughout the day including weekends and evenings to be a visible and approachable presence within the Houses, ensuring an engaging, welcoming, and vibrant environment for all members. * Travel across Asia, between Houses, on a regular basis to provide leadership and guidance to the local team, meet Committee, host events and engage the wider creative community. * Be present to help host the Houses and support teams with membership management during different “glow moments” as well as large events. * Support House teams by providing feedback and guidance to enhance the member experience across all locations in the region. Cross-functional Collaboration * Work closely with cross-functional teams including operations, design, content, creative, digital, events, partnerships, and people & development to achieve membership objectives. * Ensure alignment of membership strategies with broader business goals, contributing to the overall success of Soho House in Asia. Local Partnerships * Work with the global partnerships team to find, engage and deliver relevant local partnerships in each House that support member engagement and value. Experience Required: * Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing high-performing teams (inc remote and different markets) and large budgets with over 10 years experience. * Extensive network and experience in creative industries. * A minimum of 5 years experience managing teams in different markets within Asia, including a strong knowledge of consumer behaviour, cultural insights, and ability to translate into revenue growth. * Demonstrated expertise in driving and retaining membership and/or sales into a similar business. * Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire others, with extensive experience building and leading presentations. * Experience engaging and presenting to C level/senior leadership beneficial. * Data-driven approach to membership management, with the ability to interpret and act on key metrics. * Passion for creativity, community building, and hospitality. Scope of the Job Job Purpose: The Head of Membership, House is responsible for the development, acquisition, management and retention of members in their House. Working closely with the Regional MD, through an extensive network across the area/city where the House is located, and with a key ability to network, this role ensures that the membership Committee are of the highest standard and targets are always met with quality new members. An active social individual in the city, this person will be able to develop key relationships at businesses or with individuals, attracting new members into the Houses by hosting lunches, dinners and other outreach activity and events to ensure SH is the leading members club. The role requires a combination of strategic thinking, community engagement, and hands-on member management, with a minimum of two nights spent in-house each week attending or hosting key events to drive membership acquisition. The Head of Membership will lead a small team and work closely with the Membership Manager to oversee member behaviour, introductions, and retention. Main Responsibilities 1. Membership Acquisition & Development * Own the full membership lifecycle: acquisition, onboarding, management, and retention of all members. * Drive the quality of membership applications, ensuring that the House maintains a strong, vibrant, and diverse membership base aligned with the House Identity Plan. * Personally review membership applications, leading the approval process in collaboration with the Membership Committee and Membership Directors. * Create, host and attend events within the House (minimum two nights a week), fostering strong relationships with existing members and engaging prospective members to attract high-quality applications, plus monitoring member quality and profile in the House ensuring it best suits the House Identity. * Understand and deliver the membership headcount (approvals and leavers) and revenue targets and ensure these are met or exceeded through active management and outreach efforts. 1. Membership Retention & Member Experience * Oversee the handling of member behaviour issues at the House, acting as a liaison between the member and Membership Behaviour Committee in case of any member disputes or behavioural concerns, ensuring proper documentation and resolution. * Work with the Membership Manager to ensure personalised engagement with members who might be at risk of leaving, ensuring they feel valued and supported through regular touchpoints and interactions. * Lead efforts to minimise churn, proactively identifying at-risk members in partnership with the MST team and addressing issues to ensure long-term retention. * Collaborate with the events team to curate a range of member-exclusive experiences that attract high-quality applicants and enhance current member satisfaction. 1. Membership Committee Management * Ensure the Membership Committee operates at the highest standard, regularly meeting with them in between meetings to ensure they feel valued and engaged. At Committee Meetings, ensure they propose new applicants, review recent applications, and take an active interest in strategic priorities for the House including feedback. * Develop and implement innovative ideas to keep the Committee engaged, rewarded, and incentivised, ensuring they consistently contribute to the success of the House. * Provide leadership and clear direction to ensure the Committee is aligned with the House’s goals and values. 1. Local Outreach & Strategic Partnerships * Create and execute a robust outreach program that positions Soho House as an integral part of the local community, ensuring representation at key external events and moments in the city. * Build strategic relationships with local businesses, credible influencers, and cultural institutions to identify gaps in the membership and proactively pursue acquisition opportunities. * Act as an ambassador for Soho House, cultivating strong relationships outside the House to enhance our reputation and expand the potential membership. 1. Team Management & Collaboration * Manage and mentor the Membership Manager, ensuring they are equipped to handle member introductions, behaviour management, and administrative tasks. * Provide clear goals and KPIs for the Membership Manager, offering regular feedback and guidance to ensure high performance and job satisfaction. * Foster a collaborative, dynamic team culture in partnership with the GM/Ops team, plus Member Relations and the Events team, focused on delivering exceptional member experiences and meeting targets. * Support Membership Manager in planning monthly email headlines, to ensure members are always up-to-date on the key moments happening across Membership, Events, and Operations at the House 1. Reporting & KPI Tracking * Track membership data and KPIs, including application submission rates, retention rates, churn, and revenue generation. Understand these metrics so you can provide insights and recommendations for improvement. * Maintain an active knowledge of industry trends, competitor offerings, and local market developments to inform membership strategy and decision-making. General Function: Under the supervision of the Membership Experience Director, and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the established policies and goals of the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsula, the Member Experience Coordinator assists with member retention, engagement and membership sales. With an emphasis on ensuring the highest quality service to members and guests, the Membership Experience Coordinator will work closely with other center leaders in efforts to welcome, connect, support, and engage all members and staff. Qualifications: 1. Minimum of 20 years of age. 2. Minimum of 1 year experience in related field; YMCA experience preferred. 3. Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience preferred. 4. Must possess business professional verbal and written communication skills. 5. Advanced knowledge and ability to interface with basic software programs and phone systems. 6. Ability to perform math skills required to accurately manage money and accounting procedures. 7. Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required within 60 days of hire. 8. Manages daily business and administrative functions as it pertains to membership to include, but not limited to, reporting, collections, sales, cash handling, daily closeouts and deposits, in adherence to YMCA policies. 2. Collaborate with Center Services to ensure seamless processing of member transactions and administration. 3. Generating membership, enrollment, and revenue reports as needed. 4. Ensuring member accounts and other administrative tasks are up-to-date and accurate. 5. Facilitate member and corporate membership billing and reconciliation of group payments. 6. Serve as a resource and a backup for all YMCA staff in regards to current YMCA operations system. 7. Ensure accuracy of data entry of membership information into current YMCA operations system.
