About DataCamp Data and AI skills are critical for thriving today, and DataCamp is the platform that empowers everyone to learn them. We help individuals and Fortune 1000 companies close the data and AI skills gap through world-class learning, hands-on training, and a global community of expert instructors. In this role, you’ll collaborate with instructors and teams across curriculum, engineering, product, and marketing to expand and improve our Data Science and Data Engineering curriculum—helping millions worldwide upskill in data and AI. About you At DataCamp, we seek individuals who embody our core values of data-driven decision - making, action, transparency, ownership, and customer focus. You thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment and are driven by a passion for making a meaningful impact. You’re adaptable, embracing change and ambiguity with enthusiasm. Your initiative and entrepreneurial spirit push you beyond just meeting targets — you aim to understand the “why” behind our goals and take ownership to drive the business forward. You’re a collaborative team player who values transparency and always seeks to improve and innovate. For this role specifically, ownership is the trait we will weigh most heavily. You are 3–7 years into your legal career and ready for a role with real autonomy. Given a problem, you work it: you make calls within your remit, move things forward, and raise your hand early when you genuinely need help — not after a deal has stalled for a week. You bring intellectual curiosity, commercial fluency, bias to action, and the maturity to know the difference between a 0.1% risk worth accepting and a material exposure that requires mitigation. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply! About the Role We are seeking an experienced commercial lawyer with a strong background in commercial contracts relevant to a technology company as it relates to our customers and vendors. Reporting to DataCamp’s General Counsel, this is a strategically important role that will help DataCamp achieve its goals at a time of dynamic growth. This is a role designed for someone who can be pointed at a problem and trusted to deliver. You will have a clear remit, the authority to make decisions within it, and a General Counsel who is available when you need a sounding board — but who is not going to micromanage your inbox. As our Commercial Counsel, you will support internal business partners and assist on a broad variety of transactional matters in a growing technology company by: * Leading drafting and negotiation on a broad range of agreements (including Master Services Agreements, terms of service, services agreements, other SaaS agreements, NDAs, data processing addenda, and requests for proposals) supporting DataCamp’s business teams, with a primary focus of supporting the licensing of DataCamp’s products and services to its customers and channel partners and vendor software licensing. * Owning deals end-to-end, from first redline through signature, including direct engagement with customer counsel and procurement teams. You will be the named legal contact on the deals you run. * Collaborating closely with Sales, Customer Success, Partnerships, Operations, and Finance teams to shepherd deals to completion — including at quarter-end and year - end. * Facilitating the timely closure of business transactions while minimizing risk exposure. * Providing day-to-day commercial legal support, business-focused counseling, and advice to the sales organization — practical advice that helps stakeholders get to yes rather than gating them on risk. * Supporting the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal contracting processes. * Defining, building and implementing processes and technologies to effectively deliver legal support in a scalable manner to DataCamp’s rapidly expanding portfolio of enterprise customers. * Leading internal projects, training, and driving cross-functional efforts to completion. * Assisting with special projects as needed. You will be based remotely (EU) and support transactions across all international offices (currently UK, Belgium and New York). What we’re looking for: * 3–7 years of post-qualification experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. Strong preference for candidates with a meaningful period of training and practice at a leading global or national law firm. * Demonstrable experience with SaaS agreements, technology licensing, strategic deals, and channel agreements (such as resellers, distribution, MSP, etc.). In-house experience at a technology company is a strong plus. * Prior experience supporting a heavy volume of commercial transactions relevant to a technology company across various business functions in a fast-paced environment. * The maturity and judgment to own work end-to-end with limited supervision — making decisions within your remit, escalating what genuinely needs escalation, and neither over-checking nor under-flagging. * Strong organizational skills and the ability to simultaneously manage several projects. * Drive for efficiency and ability to leverage technology to optimize processes. * The ability to provide timely and effective legal advice in a fast-paced environment. * Ability to work independently, set priorities, meet deadlines, and resolve complex problems with a thorough understanding of the changing legal needs of a fast-growing business. * A default orientation toward enabling the business — “no” is a last resort that you can justify, not a default risk posture. * Clear, collaborative, and effective communication with business teams, especially sales teams. You should be ready to demonstrate — not just describe — how you build collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders and customers. * Excellent oral and written communication skills, with redlines and advice that don’t need a second pass. * Team player with a sense of humor and strong work ethic who is comfortable working in a dynamic environment and collaborating with various internal teams. * Willingness to travel and work flexibly on a varied schedule based on the needs of the team, including calls at odd hours as needed. * JD or equivalent education, and qualification to practice in at least one EU, UK, or US jurisdiction. It’s a plus if you have: * Commercial SaaS experience is highly desired * Specific experience with US government contracting * Familiarity with privacy (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA) and information security (SOC 2,ISO 27001) * Interest and skill in developing scalable legal infrastructure. * Experience working both in the US and Europe * Affinity with data and/or e-learning Why DataCamp? Joining DataCamp means becoming part of a dynamic, creative, and international start-up. Here are just a few of the reasons why you’ll love being on our team: * Exciting challenges: Face new technical challenges daily, keeping your work engaging and rewarding. * Competitive compensation: We offer a competitive salary with attractive benefits. * Flexibility: Benefit from flexible working hours because the future is flexible! * Continuous learning: Access a yearly learning budget for conferences & training to support your professional growth. * Global retreats: Participate in international company retreats, fostering a global team spirit. * Equipment: Yearly refreshment of your IT Equipment budget for your home working setup. * Amazing team: Collaborate with a truly exceptional team — seriously, we’re awesome! At DataCamp, we value diverse experiences and perspectives. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every qualification, we still encourage you to apply. We believe skills can be developed and are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. Your unique talents and perspectives are what make our team great!
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who has recently completed, or is close to completing, a PhD and has training in statistics, data processing, bioinformatics, or a related discipline, to contribute to research on disorders of the brain. You will work with some degree of independence as a postdoctoral researcher in a group studying Parkinson’s disease and other alpha-synuclein–related diseases (alpha-synucleinopathies) within the David Bäckström lab (umu.se), primarily multiple system atrophy (MSA) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). Our aim is to understand what causes these diseases, how synapses in the brain are affected in them, how these disorders lead to dementia, and—if possible—how they can be treated or prevented. Project Description The research group currently consists of 3–5 members and collaborates closely with the Departments of Neurology, Pathology, and Radiology at Norrlands University Hospital (NUS), as well as Umeå University. The group includes a principal investigator, a PhD student, a research nurse, and several affiliated researchers and students. Our research spans the spectrum from epidemiological studies to analyses of cerebrospinal fluid, genetics, and protein biochemistry related to Parkinson’s disease and other alpha-synucleinopathies. A major focus is on genetic and lifestyle-related risk factors in individuals affected by these currently incurable disorders, to understand their causes and how they relate to synaptic dysfunction and impaired cell endocytosis. This research involves both clinical studies of patients and molecular biological analyses carried out locally in Umeå and through international collaborations, enabling robust findings across multiple datasets. Work Tasks We offer stimulating and meaningful work in collaboration with doctoral students and affiliated researchers across various projects. You will join a welcoming and intellectually curious research environment where postdoctoral researchers are encouraged to develop their own ideas, take projects forward, and strengthen their academic profile. Your primary responsibilities will involve data analysis of existing health records, risk factors, and genetic data, as well as preparing research manuscripts for international peer-reviewed journals. You will work with statistics, data processing, and/or bioinformatics to investigate how genetic and lifestyle factors interact in the development of Parkinson’s disease and other alpha-synucleinopathies. The work may also include using existing and/or developing new methods for data analysis together with other researchers, and possibly some involvement in handling and analyzing patient-derived samples. Methods used include analysis of genetic data, brain imaging data, health-registry data, and protein biochemistry, using statistical programs such as R, SPSS, PLINK, or similar programming environments. Statistical methods include regression analyses, protein quantitative trait locus (pQTL) analyses to study how genetic variation influences protein levels relevant to disease, epidemiological methods such as survival analysis, and analyses of health-registry data preceding disease onset. Administrative tasks may also be included. You will work under supervision but with significant independence. Eligibility To be eligible for a postdoctoral position, the applicant must hold a PhD degree, or a foreign degree considered equivalent to a PhD, in bioinformatics, molecular biology, statistics, medicine, or a related field. This requirement must be met at the time of the employment decision. Training in statistics, data processing, and/or bioinformatics is expected. Merits We are looking for a candidate with a strong interest in research and ideally some previous experience in data analysis, such as analysis of genetic data using statistical software. We welcome applicants with diverse educational backgrounds, including biostatistics, computational sciences, physics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, or related disciplines. We believe that varied perspectives, experiences, and competencies enrich our research and contribute to new ways of addressing complex questions about brain diseases. Experience in these areas, as well as research experience in neurodegenerative diseases or synapse biology, is considered meritorious. Because a postdoctoral position is a qualifying position for junior researchers, we primarily welcome applicants who completed their PhD no more than three years before the application deadline. Exceptions may be made for special reasons such as illness, parental leave, clinical duties, union responsibilities, or other similar circumstances, as well as relevant service within the research field. The position requires strong collaborative skills, accuracy, creativity, initiative, flexibility, and the ability to plan and work independently. Excellent written communication skills in English are required. The ability to communicate well in both spoken and written Swedish and English is highly meritorious. Particular emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. About the Employment This is a full-time temporary position for 2 years, in accordance with the agreement on temporary employment as a postdoctoral researcher from 1 February 2022. More information about the group’s research can be found on our website David Bäckström lab. For further information, please contact: David Bäckström, Department of Clinical Scienses, Umeå University david.backstrom@umu.se Application The application should include: • A brief description of your research and your motivation for applying to this position • Curriculum Vitae (CV), where your educational background is clearly stated • List of publications • PhD diploma and other relevant degrees • Contact information for two referees Applications may be submitted in Swedish or English. Applications must be submitted via our e-recruitment system Varbi and received no later than 2026-08-15. We look forward to receiving your application!
