Job Title: Head of Design Reports to: Chief Strategy Officer Direct Reports: Design team (~10 direct reports), including Product Designers, UX Researchers, and Consumer Insights Lead Purpose of the Role The Head of Design is the most senior design leader within the organisation, responsible for setting and executing the design vision, strategy, and standards across all consumer-facing digital products and experiences. This is a strategic leadership role that extends well beyond traditional design management — the role holder operates as a key member of the senior leadership team, working directly with the CEO, Chief Strategy Officer, and other C-suite executives to shape company direction, product strategy, and growth initiatives. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will work on integrating experimental formulation, molecular-level characterization, and machine learning to develop predictive models linking chemical descriptors to adhesive properties. The work includes the development of a structured formulation library, systematic mapping of key performance indicators, and the implementation of data-driven optimization strategies to identify high-performing systems. Machine learning approaches will be used to uncover structure-property relationships and guide formulation design. The project combines experimental and computational approaches and includes validation of selected formulations on industrially relevant substrates. Your profile We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a doctoral degree obtained within the last three years in materials science, polymer science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in polymer formulation and structure-property relationships, particularly in the modification and crosslinking of bio-based or functional polymers for adhesive or related applications. By combining direct measurements of albumin reabsorption with single-cell transcriptomics, the project seeks to identify molecular programs underlying epithelial dysfunction and to discover targetable pathways relevant to kidney disease. Duties The successful candidate will lead experimental work across multiple PTEC injury models, including toxic, metabolic, inflammatory, and hypoxia–reoxygenation stress. Key tasks include functional uptake assays using fluorescently labelled albumin, cell and tissue imaging, preparation of single-cell RNA sequencing libraries, data generation from primary human PTECs and acute kidney slices, and close collaboration with computational researchers for downstream analysis. Validation of candidate pathways in tissue slices will be an additional component of the work.
