🔦 At CheckWatt, we’re a team of dedicated innovators on a mission to drive a sustainable future for Sweden and beyond. We are a green tech company that is rapidly growing in the environmental and energy sector. As part of our exciting growth journey, we are now looking for a new team member to help shape the future of sustainable energy solutions. With our leading technology, we’re revolutionizing virtual power plants by connecting solar panels, wind farms, and battery storage to create smarter, sustainable energy solutions 🍀. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the role: As an Embedded Engineer at CheckWatt, you'll develop power control software for our Linux-based IoT-edge nodes and manage tens of thousands of installations across Sweden and, soon, internationally – all centrally controlled via our backend cloud. You will be joining a growing company of 60 people that is slowly leaving its startup days behind. As we grow and evolve, people often choose to engage in various aspects of the business, offering valuable technical assistance in different areas. This collaborative approach allows team members to explore new challenges and expand their expertise across the organization. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Contribution: You will maintain and improve the control software integration toward 50 brands of power hardware. - Develop control software for solar, power-inverters and batteries - Integrate and implement new cost and revenue optimizing algorithms from our PhDs and test run their theory in real life. - Design codebase, for testability and robustness. - Administer and deploy to our fleet. - Enhance fleet automation (diagnostics, monitoring and troubleshooting). - Collaborate with Backend/Frontend to release new features. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We search for someone who is an independent and fast performer. You provide clean production ready Pull-Requests and participate in code reviews. Autonomously identify issues and act when the benefit outweighs the time- and risk cost. You will likely have a relevant Master of Science degree and more than five years of technical work experience in the areas mentioned below: Programming: Object-Oriented design (Python, a little .NET), multithreading, race condition handling, unit testing (e.g. PyTest) and Git. Embedded Systems: The analytical grit required troubleshooting embedded hardware anomalies. Bits and bytes, endianness, writing communication register-interfaces, and analyzing logs is you. Linux: Fluent proficiency with Linux shell, SSH, SCP, Rsync, GNU screen, network stack, Wireshark, etc Greatly advantageous: - Embedded Linux: kernel, device-trees, system.d, drivers, cellular modems – for our platform. - Background in power electronics - Microcontroller software/hardware development - High level technologies: C#, SQL, UML, Docker ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Way of Working: Embedded team operates in “just-in-time” delivery. While the Backend team may have the luxury of working against goals 4 months out, we in Embedded teams adjust our priorities rapidly as this market is young and customer needs quickly change. Most coding and debugging is done against a real live installation, and thus suitable for remote-hybrid work. (200 kWh of batteries would be unsuitable in the office 😉) We work loosely agile in JIRA with Feature Epics, but Task breakdown is mainly created by each individual engineer. You will have the opportunity to work hybrid remote, and on Wednesdays, we meet at the office for "gofika". Our headquarters is in Stockholm, but your nearest office will be on the “best coast” here in Gothenburg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why CheckWatt? 🔋 At CheckWatt, we are committed to creating a stable, renewable energy system with unlimited access to affordable, clean electricity. We value diversity, collaboration, and continuous learning, offering you the chance to grow in a dynamic industry driven by innovation and customer focus. Our services: 🌻 Virtual Power Plants – Networks of flexible energy resources, such as solar panels, wind farms, and battery storage, for a stable and efficient grid. ⚡ Energy Monitoring & Management – Tools for visualizing and optimizing energy production and consumption, including individual measurement and billing (IMD) for households and businesses. 🔋 Smart Control of Renewable Energy Sources – Optimization of solar and wind power production and battery storage to maximize efficiency and profitability. Read more here: CheckWatt’s service ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Interviews are happening on a rolling basis, so don't wait – apply today! If you have any questions about the role or the process, feel free to reach out to recruiting@checkwatt.se
10% of Europe’s CO₂ emissions are caused by residential heating and energy bills are out of control. Aira is here to change that. With our intelligent Aira Heat Pump at the heart, we’re making the switch to clean energy-tech easier and more affordable. Helping Europe turn off gas and slashing energy costs one home at a time. Founded in 2022, and with 1200+ employees and counting, Aira is driving the clean energy revolution by providing homes with modern clean energy-tech solutions such as solar power, battery storage solutions and heat pumps. With a state-of-the-art production facility in Poland, and HQ in Stockholm, Sweden, and hubs across the UK, Germany and Italy, Aira is well on track to install clean energy-tech into 5 million homes by 2034. About the role As a Senior Flutter Developer in the Engagement Team, you will build the tools that enable our field teams to deliver smooth installations and exceptional service. You'll be part of one of our cross-functional teams working primarily with the mobile application that installers and service technicians use. In practice, this means building tools for commissioning and servicing the full range of Aira's clean energy systems — heat pumps, solar panels, batteries, and inverters, as well as managing software updates and helping technicians troubleshoot in the field. As a Senior Flutter developer, you will: Own and ship features across iOS and Android from a single Flutter codebase Partner with UX design to craft interfaces built for real field conditions, used by technicians on-site, often under time pressure Work tightly with the in-field teams to optimize the commissioning experience. Build reliable device integrations over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Thread - connecting technicians directly to the hardware they're installing and servicing Make pragmatic decisions about when to prioritize speed and when to focus on long-term scalability Contribute to architectural decisions that support our rapid growth and international expansion What you bring to the team: Solid experience with product-driven software development and agile environments 5+ years of mobile development experience Flutter experience preferred, React Native considered. Experience building and consuming REST APIs and integrating third-party SDKs Familiarity with state management patterns such as Bloc or Riverpod, and an appreciation for testable code Comfort working with structured data contracts and binary protocols — we use Protobuf for communication between the app and our edge devices We would also appreciate if you have experience with or knowledge of some of the following: Hands-on experience with device communication protocols such as Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, or Thread Familiarity with embedded Linux environments or edge computing. The devices our app talks to run a Rust application on Linux hardware Experience with event-driven architectures or message brokers such as Kafka A track record of thriving in rapid-growth environments (start-ups, scale-ups, or new projects). What is in it for you? Develop and grow in a fast-growing scale-up with a supportive and inclusive culture. Contribute to something measurable. Every smooth commissioning enables a more environmentally sustainable Europe. See your work in action in the real world. The app you build is used by technicians installing clean energy systems in people's homes across Europe every day. Collaborate with colleagues across the full value chain, from R&D in Sweden and manufacturing in Poland to installation teams on the ground in the UK, Germany, and Italy. Enjoy the flexibility of our hybrid work model, with our office centrally located in Stockholm near Sankt Eriksplan and Odenplan. We interview on a rolling basis throughout the summer, with the majority of interviews taking place in August. At Aira, we champion next-generation energy as well as diversity and inclusion. We firmly believe that a diverse workforce fosters innovation and creativity, enhancing our ability to serve customers and communities effectively. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds, cultures and perspectives to join our team. Our commitment is to uphold equality and inclusivity, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to a better future for our people and the planet.
