The structural engineer is part of the mechanical engineering team and will work closely with design engineers, technical coordinators and class representatives. The work will mainly be in the early stages of the engineering process and focusing on overall design/layout, structural design and analysis. We are seeking someone with strong analytical abilities, who can apply those abilities in taking products from basic concepts to something that will function in the real world. Duties and responsibilities • Product development – including selection of components, finding new solutions or optimizing existing solutions • Performing design of steel structures • Carry out structural calculations and analysis to document global- and local structural capacity • Provide inputs to other engineers for performing structural calculations • Quality control of structural calculations and design • Ensure structural integrity on designed products are according to customer and class requirements • Responsibility for making, following and complying with structural specifications Qualifications • University degree (Msc) in mechanical engineering or equivalent • 5-10 years of relevant experience • Experience with design of steel structures • Relevant software experience (Ansys, Inventor, beam element programs, Mathcad, Excel etc) • Experience with strength calculation and code check of truss and frame structures • Experience with offshore standards (DNV, ABS, BV etc) • Solid mathematical skills SEAONICS works systematically for inclusion and diversity and encourage everyone to apply, even if your competence does not match 100% the above. Mission Brief You will be responsible for the structural analysis of entire assemblies belonging to our rocket’s primary and secondary structures. From trading design concepts to sizing and validating design iterations and examining the impact of manufacturing deviations, you will play an important role in guiding design decisions and pushing performance and reliability of our structures forward. As a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer you will play a major role in improving our overall analysis and verification workflow by defining standards, sharing technical knowledge and reviewing your colleagues’ results and identifying action points. DEIN PROFIL * Degree (MSc, or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. * Significant experience (minimum 5 years) in structural analysis within a high-performance motorsport, automotive, or aerospace environment. * Proven track record of delivering FEM sign-off activities for complex composite and metallic structures. * Strong understanding of structural mechanics, fatigue, buckling, impact analysis, vibration as well as optimisation techniques (both on composites and metals). * Experience working under aggressive development timescales with multiple concurrent projects. * Bolted and bonded joint analysis and correlation with physical testing. * Strong first-principles engineering mindset with excellent analytical skills. * Ability to make sound technical decisions under tight deadlines. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. * Fluent spoken and written English is mandatory * FE Solvers * Abaqus Standard is required. * Experience with Abaqus Explicit, Optistruct is advantageous.
