About the Role  As an Engineering Maintenance Technician, you will play an imperative part in supporting the pre-planned and reactive maintenance within our state-of-the-art automated fulfilment centre in Erith.  What you will be doing  * carry out maintenance on production equipment in an accurate, timely and safe manner.  * Diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and action repairs where possible. * Update engineering records, including all work carried out,  as well as supporting the identification of root cause of failures. Confirmation of spares and consumables will be part of your role along  * Ensuring the Computerised Maintenance Management System is updated with accurate data to meet Engineering KPIs.  * Collaborate with the Engineering team to analyse engineering failures and find solutions to improve Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) performance.  You will work on a days based shift pattern to support our operation and should be comfortable working at height About you * A formal engineering related qualification would be advantageous * You will have a basic technical understanding relating to automation hardware and software would be beneficial.  * Demonstrable analytical skills with sound problem solving ability * Good communication and interpersonal skills, along with good organisation skills and ability to prioritise are essential * Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, conveyors would be advantageous  What we offer you Our employee benefits are designed for you, we care about people and we’ve ensured we have a wealth of benefits that focus on your well-being. About the Role We are currently looking for a Bot Workshop Trainee Technician to join our team at Ocado’s CFC in Erith. The Bot Workshop team are responsible for the diagnosis and repair of Ocado robot sub-assemblies and Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), as well carrying out Root Cause Analysis to help deliver continuous improvement to Ocado’s robot infrastructure. This role will be focussed on the testing and repair of the Robot sub-assemblies and PCBs on a daily basis, and ensuring quality, fully operational spares are available for use to support the operation. What you will be doing  * Test and repair mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies, including printed circuit boards, ensuring accuracy, safety, and adherence to procedures. * Collaborate with the Engineering Stores team to maintain a steady supply of sub-assemblies.  * Update work records, task details, and parts usage. * Participate in training for internal processes, testing, and repairs. * Work with internal departments to improve processes and enhance equipment reliability and performance. * Analyze data to enhance equipment performance and provide reports as needed. About you  * A technical ability and understanding relating to automation hardware and equipment with experience in dismantling, diagnosing, repair and quality testing of your own and others’ work is desirable but not essential * Demonstrable analytical skills with sound problem solving ability * Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to impart knowledge effectively to others * Good organisation skills, able to prioritise What we offer We believe in supporting our people with meaningful, flexible benefits that prioritise well-being and work-life balance. About the role We have a rare opportunity for an experienced Engineer to be part of Ocado history, joining us at our largest operational Customer Fulfilment Centre in Erith. You will be working on state-of-the-art technology, being the principal point of contact for any critical technical issues, as well as keeping the operation running smoothly through proactive improvement works and maintenance activity. You will be working on a range of incredible machinery, from the impressive conveyor networks to lifts and cranes. You will work a shift pattern to support our 24/7 operation, consisting of 12 hour shifts across days, nights and weekends. About you * You have 5+ years of engineering experience, with strong technical competency and a drive for career progression. * Ideally from an FMCG background, you're confident working in fast-paced, high-performance environments. * You’re computer literate, eager to learn new skills, and bring a creative, solution-focused mindset to problem-solving. * Health and safety is a top priority, and you're comfortable and trained to work safely at height. * You hold at least a Level 3 qualification or a relevant engineering degree, ready to apply it in an innovative and inspiring setting.
