🌎 WHAT WE DO WE BUILD SOFTWARE TO ENABLE SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE SUPPLY CHAINS. ~31% of global GHG emissions originate from food-related activities. For the first time in history, climate performance has become an overall business performance indicator. Enterprises are mandated by regulatory bodies to disclose their climate performance, which leads to increasing pressure from investors, competitors, retailers, and consumers to prevent and reduce their CO2e emissions. Over the next 10 years, companies have set ambitious reduction targets that need to be met. Enterprise software and new business processes can help - to make processes in the day-to-day more efficient, connect farmers better to their partners and thus, enable action in supply chains. We raised >€10m in funding in the first 2 years of our existence, we launched our enterprise product, signed and onboarded some of the largest F&B players in Europe, and put together what we believe is the best-suited early stage tech team in Europe. Today Root is the #1 primary data collection platform for dairy in DACH. We are AI-enabled at the core and driving the AI transformation across the food and agri world. The next chapter is bigger. 🔭 WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON YOUR MISSION Build on top of Europe's #1 primary data collection platform and bring it to new heights - new markets, new commodities, ready for action. You will own our core product line end-to-end. Today it is the leading platform in Europe for collecting farm-level data at scale. Tomorrow it needs to be the foundation that powers the next decade of agricultural decarbonization. That means making the product ready for action, expanding into new commodities, and bringing it to new geographies across Europe. WHAT YOUR JOB WILL LOOK LIKE: * Own the product line end-to-end. From discovery to delivery to ongoing maintenance. You decide what gets built, when, and why. * Lead an engineering and design squad. Set the pace, manage tradeoffs, keep the team focused on what matters. Routines, rituals, prioritization - that is on you. * Prioritize across competing demands. Customer escalations, internal stakeholder asks, methodology updates, expansion bets. You will rarely have enough capacity for all of it. Make the calls that move the needle, communicate them clearly. * Go deep on methodology. Calculators, data sources, agricultural emission factors. The product is only as good as the science underneath. You will become one of the most knowledgeable people in Europe on how farm-level emissions get calculated. * Drive expansion into new markets and commodities. Run discovery in new geographies, pressure-test our offering with local customers, decide where we double down and where we pull back. * Make it action-ready. Data collection is the foundation. Reduction is where customer value compounds. Shape how our primary data product becomes the launchpad for everything we build on top of it. * Ship. We are still early stage. Time-to-customer-value beats perfection. Builder mentality is non-negotiable. 🦾 HOW WE SUPPORT YOU You will report directly to our Head of Product. Some of our angel investors that will actively mentor you: * Jan Philipp Thomsen (VP Product @Celonis) - scaling enterprise B2B SaaS * Vassili Samolis (Director Product @Doordash, ex-Instagram, ex-Pinterest) - product discovery at scale It is important to us to give you the best conditions for learning and career growth. This is why we have designed our cap table in a way that all our early employees get functional experts as mentors by your side. 🧺 WHAT YOU BRING ALONG You might be a good fit if you can demonstrate the following things: * 2-3 years of product management experience, ideally at an early-stage B2B SaaS company that shipped at a high pace. * Strong prioritization is your superpower. You can hold customer escalations, internal stakeholder asks, and long-term bets in your head at the same time, and decide what gets done first. You communicate those decisions clearly to engineers, designers, customers, and leadership alike. * Comfortable leading engineering and design. You know how to keep a squad moving, when to step in, when to step back. You can hold a productive conversation with both an engineer and a designer in the same hour. * Some technical understanding. You do not need to write production code, but you should be able to reason about systems, data models, and the tradeoffs that affect what is feasible. * Appetite to go deep. Agricultural emissions methodologies are not light reading. You should be the kind of person who gets curious, not bored, when the conversation turns to calculators and data sources. * Builder mentality. You enjoy shipping. You would rather have something live and imperfect than perfect and unshipped. * AI-fluent. Modern AI tools are part of your daily craft - for discovery synthesis, prototyping, writing, coding. You also have a point of view on how AI reshapes the products we build. * Bonus: a genuine interest in farmers, agriculture, or the food system. Not required, but it will make Monday mornings a lot more fun. 🤗 You don't feel like you fulfill all the criteria? We get it: confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But guess what?! There is no such thing as a “perfect” candidate. The only thing you need to ensure along the recruiting process and beyond is that the problem that we are solving with Root is one you cannot wait to get out of bed for on Monday morning! 🎢 HIRING PROCESS Our ambition is to offer you an end-to-end experience that is fast and uncomplicated - we aim to keep the end-to-end process to 10 working days. We send you prep material for each step and maximise transparency at every step. Root Global is an equal opportunity employer, which means we do not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, religion, marital status, age, national origin, ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic information, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
