At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious mission: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together.
More than 1/3 of all food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet. 10% of
greenhouse gas emissions come from food waste and loss.
Through our marketplace app, we connect businesses that have unsold, surplus food, with consumers who can buy and enjoy it at ⅓ of
retail value. We are a certified B Corporation with a mission to empower everyone to take action against food waste. Alongside our
marketplace app, we create educational tools, explore new business solutions, and influence legislation to help reduce food waste.
We’re growing fast: Our community of 120 million registered users and 180,000 active partners across 21 countries, have together
already saved over 500 million meals from going to waste
In 2023, Too Good To Go was recognised on Fortune's acclaimed 'Change the World' list, named as one of Deloitte's 'Best Managed
Companies' and won a coveted 'Cultural Impact Award' at the annual Apple App Store Awards.

At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious goal: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together. 40% of all food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet, with 10% of greenhouse gas emissions coming from food waste. We're more than an app: we are a certified B Corporation with a mission to empower everyone to take action against food waste, so alongside our marketplace app, we create educational tools, explore new business solutions — such as our Retail Technologies offering — and influence legislation to help reduce food waste. WE'RE GROWING FAST: OUR COMMUNITY OF 120 MILLION REGISTERED USERS AND 180,000 ACTIVE PARTNERS ACROSS 20 COUNTRIES HAVE TOGETHER ALREADY PREVENTED 500+ MILLION MEALS FROM GOING TO WASTE YOUR MISSION We are looking for a Centre of Excellence Lead to build and grow the data science and machine learning capability at the heart of our Data and Analytics organisation. The Centre of Excellence (CoE) brings together our Data Scientists and ML Engineers into a single, centralised team that partners with Product and business domains to solve our most important problems. As its Lead, you will own the team's technical direction, raise the bar on delivery and standards, and develop the people in it while staying close enough to the work to coach hands-on. As a marketplace, many of our most critical challenges revolve around supply-demand dynamics, user behaviour, and marketplace efficiency. Your team works on problems such as personalisation, pricing, optimisation, and forecasting, helping us move from reactive analysis to proactive, model-driven systems. YOUR ROLE * Lead and grow the CoE team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers — owning performance management, coaching, hiring, and the development of each individual * Set and raise technical standards across the team, from problem framing and methodology through to experimentation, productionisation, and impact measurement * Stay hands-on as a player-coach — close enough to the technical work to guide design decisions, review approaches, and help unblock the team * Strengthen the DS↔ML handoff, ensuring models move from prototype to production reliably and that the two disciplines collaborate closely from the start of each initiative * Partner with Product and business leaders to identify high-impact opportunities where data science and ML can drive step-change improvements, and translate them into a focused team roadmap * Represent the CoE to Product, Engineering, and leadership stakeholders, making the case for where and how advanced methods create the most value * Partner with the People team to define the capability framework for the data science and ML domain * Champion the responsible use of AI within the team's ways of working, advocating for best practices and integrating new tools where they add genuine value REQUIREMENTS * Solid experience leading technical teams of a similar size (around 5 people), including performance management and developing engineers or scientists * A strong technical foundation in data science or machine learning — you have done the technical work yourself and can credibly coach it * Comfortable across both disciplines: you don't need to have managed both Data Scientists and ML Engineers, but you should have enough fluency in each to set direction and earn the team's trust * Track record of delivering ML or DS work that reached production and created measurable business or product impact * Strong grounding in experimentation (A/B testing), measurement, and impact evaluation * Experience with applied problems such as personalisation/recommendation, optimisation, pricing, or forecasting * A pragmatic, current view on AI its maturity, where it adds value, and how to integrate it responsibly into a team's workflow * Strong stakeholder and communication skills — able to influence Product, Engineering, and business leaders * Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of ownership * Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills OUR VALUES * We win together: Food waste is a big beast to fight. We believe in a #oneteam. * We raise the bar: We always push for more. WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER * An opportunity to work in a global social-impact company and certified B Corporation, where you can see a real and tangible impact in your role. * The chance to build and lead a centralised data science and ML capability from an early stage, shaping how advanced methods drive decisions across the company. * Work-life balance is important to us! Focus on the job to be done, not the hours spent — there is no need for overtime. * We trust our employees and encourage an autonomous environment with several opportunities to contribute, develop, and take ownership. * To be part of an international company, with over 1,200+ colleagues across 20 countries on the same important mission. * An informal environment, working alongside 170+ passionate people within Tech & Product. * We celebrate our differences and our successes and have a strong values-driven team culture. * We work in a hybrid set-up (4 days per week in our Copenhagen office) and value in-office work weekly. * We may be able to support you with a working visa in Copenhagen, please be prepared to discuss this topic further at your first-stage interview. 🌏 Mission: At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious mission: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together. More than 1/3 of all food produced in the world is wasted, which has a huge impact on our planet - 10% of greenhouse gas emissions to be exact. 💻 Product: Too Good To Go operates the world's largest marketplace for surplus food, where we connect food businesses with consumers who can buy and enjoy it at 50%+ off retail value. Alongside our app, we operate an end-to-end surplus food management solution and influence legislation to reduce food waste. 📈 Scale: We’re growing fast: Our community of 133+ million registered users and 261.000 active partners across 20 countries has together already saved 517+ million meals from going to waste - avoiding over 1.4 million tonnes of CO2e! We partner with some of the industry’s biggest names, like Starbucks, Whole Foods Market, Krispy Kreme, and others, to drive social and climate impact. ⭐️ Impact: We are a certified B Corp social impact company. Too Good To Go was named in FastCompany's list of the World's Most Innovative Companies and World Changing Ideas. We are also honoured to be included in TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies. Most recently, we won Apple’s coveted Cultural Impact Winner. Your Mission: Mystore, our web-based partner platform, is in the middle of a major shift toward self-service. We are helping stores onboard faster, manage supply independently, and understand their performance without manual intervention. This is a complex design challenge at real scale. We need a Senior Product Designer to own a meaningful part of this transformation—closing the gap between where the platform is today and where we are taking it. Our Approach: We design for busy store owners and employees—people managing real operational complexity who rely on tools that simply work. That means designing experiences that reduce cognitive load, fit naturally into workflows, and make complex tasks feel obvious. We care deeply about simplicity—not minimalism for its own sake, but clarity that scales across markets, partner types, and operational realities. To get there, we combine strong product thinking, systems thinking, and high craft. We work closely with product and engineering, we actively use AI-enabled workflows for discovery—including custom prototyping setups we have built with Claude Code and Cursor. You’ll join a small team of designers with a builders mentality that have meaningful influence across both product direction and how we scale design within the company. What You’ll Do * Own design strategy for the self-serve transformation: Own design strategy for the evolution of MyStore — shaping everything from self-serve operational workflows to future partner-facing product experiences. You’ll drive end-to-end product design from discovery through shipped outcomes. * Translate research and data into direction: Work with research to identify friction points and use Amplitude insights to validate decisions and uncover new opportunities. * Define partner-first simplicity at scale: Co-own design standards that keep our platform intuitive as we grow, including contribution to Pantry, our unified design system. * Co-own our AI design practice: Help shape how we integrate AI into discovery, exploration, and validation—working alongside a team already highly invested in these tools. * Influence our design culture: Lead critiques that raise the bar. Give and receive feedback that strengthens craft. Help us maintain simplicity and delight even as we move fast. * Advocate for the "Why": Communicate your designs and rationale clearly in product reviews. You explain the strategic thinking and business impact, not just the pixels. What We’re Looking For * Deep Craft: You benchmark actively and notice what others miss. For us, that means design that removes cognitive load so partners intuitively know what to do next. * A Builder at Heart: You’re drawn to working close to the material—collaborating with engineers, prototyping to test ideas, and using AI to accelerate thinking. * Systems Thinking: You understand we’re a marketplace; every decision ripples across both sides. You design with the full ecosystem in mind. * Genuine Product Thinking: You care about outcomes over ownership. You move fluidly across functions and go where the work needs you. * Comfort with Ambiguity: You independently break down problems and move toward solutions without waiting for a full brief. * Portfolio: Show us your personality and the work you've owned. We want a feel for the type of designer you are and the part you played in leading projects. * Nice to have: B2B/Marketplace experience, motion/animation background, or experience with AI-assisted workflows. Our values * We win together: Food waste is a big beast to fight. We believe in a #oneteam. * We raise the bar: We always push for more. We work smart, smash barriers and elevate one another. * We keep it simple: Our ambitions are bold but our solutions are simple. * We build a legacy: We’re proud of the change we’re driving. * We care: We always look out for each other. Caring is also about the way we do business. We do the right thing. What we have to offer * A rare opportunity to work in a social impact company (and certified B Corporation!) where you can see real and tangible impact in your role. * Working alongside an international community of users, partners and 1,350+ colleagues across 20 countries that are on the same important mission. * Personal and professional development opportunities in a fast-paced scale-up environment. * An inclusive company culture where you can bring your authentic self to work * A strong, values-driven team culture where we celebrate successes and socialise with colleagues that care. Benefits * WORK FLEXIBLY: * Enjoy hybrid working from our great offices, at home or abroad. * Extra parental leave and days off beyond local legislation and the option to take an extra week of unpaid leave * Health insurance and pension plans (subject to country of employment). * Additional days off for significant life events * CELEBRATE & SOCIALISE * Regular social events like summer and winter parties. * Coffee, snacks and fully-equipped kitchens. * Get to know our community with a monthly free Surprise Bag * Paid volunteer time through our Shareback volunteering programme * Women in the Workplace, P.R.I.D.E., People of Colour and Functionally Diverse Employee Resource Groups How to apply * We take recruitment very seriously, so please carefully read everything we have written above. Please also check our website and international media in order to get a good overview of Too Good To Go. * Submit your CV and Cover letter in English. * Please note that we only accept applications coming through our platform.
