At hyperexponential, we're building the AI-powered platform that enables the world's most critical decisions in a £7 trillion
industry: which risks to take, and how to price them. These are the decisions that shape real-world outcomes – whether rockets
successfully launch into space, autonomous vehicles make it to market, or communities recover after major storms.
Until now, insurance has been making billion-pound decisions using outdated tools. We're changing that. Our platform brings
together data, AI, and human expertise to give insurers the fastest path from submission to decision – helping them move faster,
act smarter, and take on more risk with confidence.
Backed by a16z, Highland Europe, and Battery Ventures, we're scaling globally – already trusted by nearly 50 of the world's
largest insurers, with zero churn and billions in premiums flowing through hx.
What began as a single product in one market has rapidly evolved into a multi-product, multi-territory platform powering every
stage of pricing and underwriting. AI is at the core of what we do – from building the world's first domain-specific AI peer
programmer for insurance (think GitHub Copilot with a PhD in actuarial science) to shaping agentic workflows that reinvent how
this industry operates.
What makes hx different is the people who build it. Here, impact isn't tied to title or tenure; it's defined by the challenges you
take on and the discipline you bring. Surrounded by peers who stretch you, you'll do the best, hardest work of your life in a
company engineered to endure.
If that sounds like you, join us in building what comes next.
Portfolio Intelligence sits at the heart of how our customers understand and steer their books of business. The product suite
enables insurers to move beyond individual risk decisions and instead operate at portfolio level - understanding performance,
identifying opportunities, and taking action across the $billions of complex risks that they insure.
This is not just a reporting or analytics product. It is a foundational data platform that helps insurers answer some of their
most critical questions. You will not be building static dashboards, but flexible capabilities that customers can use to solve a
wide range of problems in their own way.
You will work closely with product, engineering, designers and with underwriters, and actuaries to design the portfolio data layer
that underpins analytics, pricing models, and emerging agentic workflows across hx. This means working with highly complex,
evolving data schemas and turning them into something usable, reliable, and powerful for decision-making. Ultimately building the
foundations for better pricing decisions and driving significant value for our clients.
The team operates with high autonomy, rapid experimentation, and tight feedback loops with clients. You will fully own the
end-to-end strategy and launch of Portfolio Intelligence. From shaping the problem space and data strategy, through to delivering
products that are deeply adopted and relied upon, your focus will be on turning complex portfolio questions into clear,
high-impact capabilities that become indispensable to both underwriters and actuaries.
This is a role for someone who’s a builder and enjoys going deep - into data, into client problems, and into the details that
ultimately drive better decisions at scale.

ABOUT THE PLATFORM TEAM Platform at hx builds the foundation that enables engineering teams to ship secure, scalable applications at velocity. We're evolving towards an AI-first platform where self-service infrastructure, intelligent automation, and reusable components compound developer productivity and operational excellence. This isn't about maintaining the status quo; we're reimagining how modern software delivery works. As the Staff Platform Engineer, you will own the technical direction of this evolution. You will define the architecture and engineering standards that others build to, drive coherence across teams, and ensure the platform strategy is aligned to long-term business outcomes. You will shape how AI-first, self-service infrastructure is done at scale, not just by delivering capabilities yourself, but by creating the conditions for engineering teams across the organisation to move faster, more safely, and more autonomously. Check out our Engineering Candidate Hub for a behind the scenes look at the team you would be joining! WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING * Establish a coherent 12–18 month technical direction for the platform, with clearly articulated trade-offs, milestones, and alignment across engineering leadership. The roadmap is understood, trusted, and actively referenced by stakeholders. * Platform capabilities are adopted broadly across engineering, not because teams are told to use them, but because they are well-designed, well-documented, and genuinely reduce friction. Measurable reduction in Platform as a bottleneck for common provisioning and deployment tasks. * Define the architectural patterns and standards that enable autonomous and AI-augmented workflows across the organisation. Other engineers can build AI-native capabilities without requiring Platform's direct involvement in every initiative. * Platform defined standards for security, reliability, and operational excellence are embedded into how all teams build not enforced through gatekeeping, but adopted because they are the path of least resistance. Measurable reduction in misconfiguration, security exceptions, and operational incidents across the estate. * Senior engineers are visibly stronger for having worked alongside you. The team develops better instincts for architecture, trade-offs, and platform thinking. You are sought out as a technical authority. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE DONE * Defined the architecture, standards, and patterns for the platform domain over a multi-quarter horizon. Makes high-judgement calls on foundational trade-offs such as build vs buy, depth vs breadth, short-term pragmatism vs long-term coherence and brings the organisation along on those decisions. * Navigating disagreement across senior engineers, architects, and stakeholders to reach durable technical decisions. Comfortable holding a position under pressure, updating it when presented with better evidence, and ensuring decisions stick once made. * Accountability for outcomes that span multiple teams and that they do not personally deliver. Designs systems, standards, and enablement approaches that multiply the effectiveness of the engineers around them, rather than being the primary hands-on contributor to every initiative. * Defined how AI and automation are embedded into the platform at an architectural level not just experimenting with tools, but establishing patterns that make AI-augmented workflows the default for engineering teams across the organisation. * Understanding of the adoption dynamics, internal customer needs, and the systemic barriers to self-service. Shapes the platform roadmap based on feedback, usage data, and a clear-eyed view of where friction exists and ensures the platform earns its adoption rather than mandating it. * Identified architectural, security, and operational risks before they become incidents. Influences how the broader engineering organisation thinks about reliability, security posture, and cost efficiency not just within Platform's direct remit. * Connecting platform decisions to business outcomes clearly and credibly. Can represent the platform strategy to senior leadership, translate engineering constraints into business language, and use commercial context to sharpen technical priorities. * Actively developing senior engineers through technical challenge, honest feedback, and deliberate exposure to harder problems. Recognised as someone who raises the capability of the team, not just the quality of the code. Models the engineering culture the organisation is trying to build. YOU'RE UNLIKELY TO THRIVE HERE IF * You prefer executing predefined tasks over taking ownership of ambiguous problems that require exploration, experimentation, and iteration to solve * You view platform engineering as building infrastructure in isolation rather than treating it as a product with internal customers whose adoption and satisfaction drive success * You're uncomfortable with rapid change and continuous improvement, preferring stability and established patterns over evolving practices based on data and feedback * If reading our Culture Document leaves you feeling neutral rather than energised, hx may not be the place where you'll do your best work. We're building something that asks for commitment and conviction, and we want you to feel excited by the opportunity to grow with us. COMPENSATION At hx, we're committed to salary transparency. Kindred is a members-only home swapping platform that unlocks the ability to live a travel-rich lifestyle through the power of community. By exchanging primary residences with trusted peers, renters and owners alike can match with Kindred spirits and explore new destinations without breaking the bank. Kindred is revolutionizing the “third option” of travel accommodation, compared to short-term rentals and hotels. Since launching in 2022, Kindred has grown to a global community of 300,000 members across 150+ cities and puts home swapping on the map as a radically more affordable, responsible, and connected way to travel. To support that momentum, Kindred has raised over $150M in capital from some of the most credible investors in Silicon Valley, including Index Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, New Enterprise Associates, Bessemer Venture Partners, Caffeinated Capital, Elad Gil, and founders of companies like Opendoor, Figma, ClassPass, and more. Kindred’s co-founders are proven leaders from the early team at Opendoor ($15B+ exit), who have each built and scaled products that today generate $1B+ annual revenue combined. We’re looking for the world’s top builders, executors, and believers to help us make travel more meaningful. You can learn more about us in Forbes and The New York Times. THE ROLE We're looking for a Staff Product Manager to join our Supply & Inventory team. This role sits at the intersection of behavioral product design, marketplace economics, and growth. You'll work directly with your team to understand what drives — and blocks — members from hosting their homes, and build the product systems that unlock supply at scale. This means going deep on one of the most nuanced challenges in our marketplace: building hosting habits in members who've never considered opening their home to others. While this role begins with a focused mandate on hosting supply and inventory, Kindred PMs grow with the company. We expect the right person to develop deep expertise here and, over time, may take on other high-priority product focus areas as our team and roadmap evolve. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Own the supply-side product experience — driving members to host their homes, add availability, and build lasting hosting habits * Design product systems that make hosting feel natural, trustworthy, and rewarding — from first home setup all the way to becoming a recurring host * Go deep on the behavioral and economic drivers of hosting: who hosts, why they host, why they stop, and what moves the needle * Use AI prototyping tools and rapid experimentation to move fast — build confidence cheaply before committing to big bets * Rigorously prioritize the highest-leverage supply levers using both quantitative analysis and first principles thinking about human behavior * Collaborate closely with marketing, data science, design, and operations to drive systemic improvements in hosting supply * Champion the host's perspective in every product decision — developing a true, empathetic understanding of what it's like to host your personal home YOU MAY BE A RIGHT FIT IF YOU * Have 8+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time in consumer-facing, high-growth products * Have experience building marketplace or supply-constrained products — you've thought deeply about what drives supply-side behavior and how to move it systematically * Go deep on data: comfortable with funnel analysis, cohort studies, behavioral analysis, and designing new metrics from scratch * Are a first principles thinker — you reason from the ground up about what drives human behavior, rather than jumping to analogies or conventional solutions * Are scrappy and resourceful — comfortable with AI tools, prototyping tools, and lightweight experiments to build and test hypotheses quickly * Operate in ambiguity with a bias for action — you move fast and make good calls with incomplete information * Have a founder mindset — proactive, high-ownership, not above rolling up your sleeves * Bonus: experience designing incentive structures, behavioral nudges, or habit loops in consumer products OUR BENEFITS: At Kindred, we know that good things happen when we look out for one another. We offer a thoughtful, human-first benefits package designed to support health, wellbeing, and connection. Our openings may span more than one career level. The base salary offered depends on factors such as experience, transferable skills, business needs, impact, and market data. * Competitive cash compensation and equity * Comprehensive health benefits * Flexible time off, plus 12 paid holidays per year * 21 credits per year to stay in Kindred homes * $4,000 annual travel stipend to help offset travel-related costs * Remote-first and remote-flexible work environment, with opportunities to work from anywhere and gather in person, including at Kindred HQ in San Francisco * Regular team and company offsites to connect, collaborate, and build together * A vibrant, inclusive, and highly skilled team that ferociously protects team chemistry * A culture of high standards, feedback, and continual growth We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all applicants and employees. Kindred does not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic, including race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, creed, age, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, medical condition, genetic information, family care or medical leave status, marital status, domestic partner status, military and veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by US federal, state or local laws, or the laws of the country or jurisdiction where you work.
