We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Compliance strategy for our product engineering team. In this role, you will be the leader overseeing the delivery, performance, and people management for our Compliance squads, composed of 8–15 engineers. You are in charge of the performance, productivity, and innovation within this scope, ensuring that how clients and freelancers connect on Malt remains secure and trustworthy.
Today, our compliance ecosystem relies on robust KYC flows; tomorrow, we aim for a full AI-driven compliance experience. You play a crucial role in defining and implementing our technical strategy, driving project timelines, and fostering a high-performing and collaborative engineering environment. About the team The Global Bank engineering organisation is responsible for the financial infrastructure that powers SumUp's banking products across multiple markets — and this role sits at the heart of it. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you'll provide leadership across a critical product area and cross-cutting initiatives, ensuring engineering delivery is resilient, scalable, and aligned with regulatory requirements. As an Engineering Manager, you will work with your team to build mission-critical Lakebase services on the Databricks Platform at scale. Lakebase enables teams to deliver applications faster with an optimized database developer experience, integration with the lakehouse, and simplified operations. It provides a managed Postgres transactional layer for application state and workloads that combine operational data, analytics, and AI. You'll join as one of the founding engineering leaders to build out both the Lakebase product and our London presence.
