Software R&D Team Lead - Malta

We are seeking an experienced and hands on Tech Leader for our Machine Learning Team. This pivotal role involves the development of our ML framework and platform, develop Machine learning models and support our MLOps initiatives, serving as the Subject matter expert for the area. Your work will directly impact users and contribute to our ongoing success in the competitive market.   A TASTER OF WHAT YOU WILL BE INVOLVED WITH:  * Design and develop the frameworks and guardrails for the ML Solutions and products * Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to inform strategy development and ensure competitiveness * Direct the exploration and implementation of new AI technologies and methodologies, including MLOps * Lead the Design and development of Betsson’s ML platforms and solutions, addressing both batch and real-time solutions. * Provide technical leadership, setting clear deliverables and supporting team to achieve the results * Responsible for review and approval of key technical solutions * Design, develop, deploy and maintain a framework and a platform to leverage and standardize the utilization of Machine learning across the company * Oversee the entire machine learning lifecycle, from data collection and pre-processing to model deployment and monitoring. * Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to integrate machine learning models into production systems.     WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR * Bachelor’s in computer science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Master’s or Ph.D. in AI would be considered a plus. * At least 5 years of experience in the ML Field, have developed ML solutions and products, with significant experience in developing cutting edge platforms using Cloud (preferably AWS Sagemaker) to enable seamless evolution and standardized utilization of the Machine Learning by organization. * Demonstrated expertise in managing complex Data/AI/ML projects and delivering results in a fast-paced environment. * Proficiency in AI technologies, event driven and real time data analytics environments, development and utilization of machine learning algorithms, MLOps and online feature stores for real time low latency applications. * Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the AI and ML space to proactively implement improvements, suggest innovative ways and ensuring Betsson remains at the forefront of innovation in this dynamic field. * Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of inspiring teams and translating complex AI concepts into clear business strategies to be communicated to different stakeholders at different levels of seniority and skills.   WHAT WE OFFER Much like riding a rollercoaster, sometimes life at Betsson can be lightning fast with twists and turns but always FUN! Description Position at LeoVegas Group ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Process Automation Specialist to join our growing Automation & Process Improvement team in Malta. This role is a key headcount for growth as we aggressively expand our focus on embedding cutting-edge AI and intelligent automation into our everyday workflows. This is a hands-on technical role where you will design, build, and maintain production-grade automations that move our business away from manual, repetitive tasks and toward smart, scalable workflows. As part of a talented 10-person team, you will act as a trusted technical partner to stakeholders and process owners across all global departments. You will work closely with our process improvement specialists to turn operational workflows into optimized, automated systems. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: Designing, developing, and deploying end-to-end automation solutions using UiPath and complementary RPA platforms. Building and deploying autonomous AI agents using frameworks like Google ADK and Claude to enable multi-step reasoning and complex workflows.  Integrating advanced AI capabilities into workflows, including natural language processing (NLP), document understanding, and generative AI patterns. Evaluating business use cases to architect the right solution, deciding whether a process is best served by traditional RPA, an AI agent, or a hybrid approach. Conducting technical discovery and scoping sessions with cross-functional stakeholders to assess project feasibility and estimate engineering effort. Establishing development best practices across the team, running automation reviews, performance tuning, and conducting unit testing to ensure data reliability at scale. Monitoring and optimizing live automations, while staying on top of advancements in LLMs and agentic frameworks to introduce new tools to the business. OUR SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING: ESSENTIAL SKILLS 5+ years of hands-on experience in process automation and RPA development. Proven experience or a strong, demonstrated interest in building AI agents using modern frameworks like Google ADK, Claude agents, or LangChain. Direct experience applying AI/ML technologies (such as NLP, document processing, or generative AI) directly within live automation setups. Strong understanding of solution architecture, RPA governance rules, enterprise deployment practices and version control. NICE TO HAVES Prior experience working within the iGaming industry.
