YOUR MISSION We are seeking a highly skilled Senior High-Voltage Airborne Electronics Engineer (all genders) to design, develop, and validate high-performance power control and conversion hardware. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in power electronics design, component selection, simulation, PCB design, testing, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and cost-effective power solutions. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Design and develop power electronics hardware including power distribution & protection units, solid-state power controllers and DC-DC converters. * Capture requirements and manage them systematically in a traceable way. * Create schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs for power electronic systems. * Perform circuit analysis, simulations, and design optimization (thermal, EMI/EMC, efficiency, reliability). * Select and qualify power components such as Power MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC/GaN devices, magnetics, and passive components. * Lead prototype build, bring-up, debugging, and validation testing. * Conduct failure analysis and implement design improvements. * Ensure compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards (UL, IEC, ISO, etc.). * Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, procurement and quality teams. * Support production ramp-up, manufacturing test development, and field issue resolution. * Prepare and maintain technical documentation, test reports, and design reviews. YOUR PROFILE * Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or related field. * More than 5 years of professional experience. * Strong background in power electronics theory and practical hardware design. * Experience with electrical protection, power semiconductors, converter topologies and control methods. * Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer (preferred), OrCAD, or KiCad. * Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, power analysers, electronic loads). * Solid understanding of electronics packaging, thermal management, EMI/EMC, and safety design. * Ability to debug complex hardware issues independently. * Experience with wide bandgap semiconductors (SiC,GaN). * Familiarity with simulation tools (LTspice, PLECS, PSIM, MATLAB/Simulink). * Knowledge of high-voltage and high-power systems. * Experience with testing hardware under high-voltage (>800V). * Experience with DO-254 process. * Experience with aerospace & defence standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704). * A valid (car) driving licence is preferred for occasional travel between our locations. YOUR MISSION As a BMS Software Engineer (all genders), you will join the VÆRIDION R&D team within the Technology division. You will be responsible to lead the development of software required for our propulsion battery management and power distribution for VÆRIDION’s CS-23 all-electric aircraft. Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of the High Voltage Electrical Power System at the core of VÆRIDION’s novel propulsion system. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Lead the design, development, and implementation of embedded software for propulsion battery and power distribution from prototypes to future airworthy systems. * Implement software development processes and toolchains in compliance with aviation standards and regulations. * Define and document software requirements, specifications, and interfaces for the high voltage electrical power system. * Collaborate closely with cell, electrical, and thermal engineers to develop robust and efficient algorithms for battery state estimation, cell balancing, fault detection, power control, and thermal management. * Conduct thorough testing and validation of the software, including integration testing with other aircraft systems. * Support system integration, iron bird/field testing, and certification efforts, providing expertise on software functionality and performance. * Stay current with advancements in battery technology, software development methodologies, and aviation regulations. YOUR PROFILE * Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is preferred. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems and real-time applications. * Proven track record of designing and implementing software for safety-critical systems, preferably in the aerospace or automotive industries. * Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS). * Experience with battery management systems, electric propulsion, power electronics, or related fields is highly desirable. * Familiarity with aviation standards such as RTCA DO-178C and DO-254 is a plus. * Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. * Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams. * Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or other language would be beneficial. ABOUT THE TEAM As the Test & Verification Engineer – Environmental, you are the technical expert and driving force behind the physical qualification of our systems under extreme conditions. You will not merely test isolated components; rather, you will be responsible for the holistic system qualification according to military standards. In our agile start-up environment, you won't just plan test campaigns from your desk—you will actively execute them in our lab or alongside external partners. RESPONSIBILITIES * Holistic Test Management: Independent definition, planning, preparation, and execution of environmental test campaigns * Ideally fully Interdisciplinary Testing: Monitoring and evaluating system behavior under extreme conditions, taking mechanical, electrical, electromagnetic (EMC), and high-voltage (HV) aspects into account. * Campaign Management: Selection, coordination, and technical supervision of external test labs and service providers, as well as the establishment and operation of in-house testing capabilities. * Data Acquisition & Analysis: Utilization of data acquisition systems (DAQ) and specialized testing software for precise documentation and fault analysis. * Troubleshooting & Design Feedback: Close collaboration with the R&D team (Electronics/Mechanics) to conduct immediate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) in the event of hardware or PCB failures during environmental tests, driving necessary design iterations. QUALIFICATIONS * Educational Background: A completed degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable field. * Norms & Standards: Deep knowledge of qualification according to military standards and ideally AECTP 200/400/600 (or MIL-STD-810 / MIL-STD-461). Or holistic automtive Testing * Holistic Technical Understanding: You think across disciplines. In addition to environmental and mechanical testing (vibration/shock), you bring solid knowledge in the following areas: * Electrical Engineering & PCB: Understanding of circuit designs and PCBs at the system level (even though the focus is on system testing, not pure PCB component testing). * High Voltage (HV): Safe handling and practical experience with high-voltage systems. * Electromagnetics (EMC/EMI): A foundational understanding of electromagnetic compatibility in military systems. * Mechanical understanding of vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and humidity NICE TO HAVE * Defense Experience: Proven experience in the military environment or defense industry.
