The successful candidate will join the established DCO team at QRT, working closely with Network Engineering and infrastructure teams you will be responsible for the implementation and physical deployment of electronic trading infrastructure in support of the firm’s trading activities. Your Future Role within QRT * Contribute to the design and planning of new equipment deployments in line with data centre best practices * Deploy, maintain, and decommission trading infrastructure hardware, including FPGA platforms, ultra-low-latency servers, and high-performance network switches, across a global colocation footprint * Ensure consistent build quality across structured cabling, rack layouts, power distribution, cooling infrastructure, and environmental monitoring * Coordinate installations, upgrades, capacity expansions, and decommissions with exchanges, colocation providers, hardware vendors, and onsite engineers * Support procurement, logistics, inventory management, and the movement of hardware and components between sites * Maintain accurate and up-to-date infrastructure documentation (rack elevations, patching matrices, connectivity layouts) using CMDB tools such as NetBox * Work closely with network engineering and trading teams to ensure physical infrastructure meets performance and operational requirements * Use basic scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible) to support automation, monitoring, and operational tooling where required * Ensure data centre operations meet high standards of security, cleanliness, documentation, and supply management * Install, troubleshoot, and support servers, switches, timing devices, and cabling in live environments * Provide break-fix support in a 24/7 global trading environment Your Present Skillset: * Experience working in low-latency or high-performance trading infrastructure environments (e.g. HFT, exchange colocation, market making) * Strong understanding of hardware and systems used in low-latency trading, including FPGAs, optical taps, high-performance servers, networking, and timing equipment * Solid understanding of hardware and network devices, including basic configuration * Proven experience managing vendors and delivering on-site changes and large-scale deployments to exacting standards * High standards of physical build quality, attention to detail, and operational discipline in infrastructure layout and cabling * Strong documentation skills with a focus on process consistency and operational readiness * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, globally distributed team environment * Willingness to travel internationally and provide occasional evening or weekend support as part of a flexible operations schedule * Ability to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rotation supporting global trading operations Base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000 per year. We are seeking an experienced DevOps Infrastructure Engineer to manage and maintain our cloud-based systematic trading infrastructure and build tools to enable and accelerate research. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development tools, production management and cloud tooling in a systematic trading environment. Key Responsibilities: * Create, manage and maintain our production, research and trading infrastructure across multiple cloud regions * Optimize our low-latency systematic trading compute and network infrastructure * Support large research computing and modeling workloads with resilient, auto-scaling clusters and efficient hardware utilization * Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise, including server downtime, network connectivity problems, and cloud outages * Monitor system performance, and proactively identify and address any performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, or other issues that could impact trading operations * Work collaboratively with quantitative researchers, traders, developers, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure that the trading and research infrastructure meets their requirements Requirements: * 5+ years experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role in a fast-paced environment, ideally buy-side systematic trading * Production experience with cloud technologies, ideally AWS. Certifications alone are not enough. * Extensive experience with Kubernetes, including large auto-scaling clusters, and highly available services, as well as knowledge of related GitOps tools such as FluxCD or ArgoCD * Hands-on production experience with Linux, including knowledge of installations, configurations, and troubleshooting * Religious about IaC, mastery of Terraform is required. Must have a passion for automation, and experience with relevant tools, such as Ansible. * Practical working knowledge of UDP, TCP/IP, routing protocols, VPN technologies, user-space kernel bypass networking. WHAT YOU WILL DO For all C++ openings: * Lead the development and global rollout of our Core platform used in multiple business/focus groups (Market data, Quantitative research, Pricing, Strategies) * Be involved in the development process, which will be a fast-paced iterative process where you deploy your deliverables and validate them yourself and/or together with traders or quants * Develop tools/frameworks to deliver capabilities for tuning/develop data-driven systematic pricing and trading strategies * Work together with focus group engineers, Quants and Technical traders to refine requirements, collect feedback, and iterate on design and implementation of platform requirements Exchange Connectivity: * Write software that communicates with exchanges through their APIs, receiving market data and sending orders over the network in different protocols, such as FIX, Websocket or HTTP requests * Ensure quality of software based on a set of testing suites, which you are expected to use, maintain and extend * Optimize exchange communication through kernel bypass, optimizing TLS or the connection handling to an exchange * Research exchange behavior in detail to align our behavior to that of an exchange * Implement these solutions using the provided exchange SDKs in different languages such as C++, Rust, Python, Typescript Trading Strategies: * Implement trading algorithms based on requirements provided by traders and quants * Acquire and develop the necessary trading knowledge to successfully translate the requirements into actual software implementation * Continuously improve the stability, reliability, and performance of the trading engine * Enhance monitoring and observability in collaboration with the Trading Operations team * Investigate and resolve production issues such as crashes, unexpected business logic behavior, and performance bottlenecks * Prepare for releases and deployments of new trading engine versions WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED * BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent * 5+ years post-graduation professional C++ software development experience (proprietary trading industry preferred) * Ability to write clean, reliable, and highly scalable code * Good knowledge of algorithms and data structures * Experience in parallel, asynchronous, and multithreaded programming * Interest in achieving maximum performance from available hardware and software * Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical business colleagues At Flow Traders, we acknowledge the importance of open and transparent communication whether it be with our employees, our stakeholders, or our local and global communities. Per NYC salary transparency law, the total compensation for this role includes a base range of $185,000 to $225,000 plus annual discretionary variable remuneration.
