The Database team owns the backbone of every Proton product — a web-scale fleet of mission-critical MySQL databases serving
hundreds of millions of users worldwide. We sit within the Infrastructure department and are responsible for making these
databases available, performant, and secure as Proton's product surface keeps expanding. We treat manual toil as a bug: automation
is how we scale, not headcount. You'll be joining at a critical phase — we're actively raising our automation ceiling, evaluating
distributed database systems, and building the platform that will carry Proton through its next decade of growth. If you want

SumUp is looking for a Senior Database DevOps Engineer to join our team in Sofia. In this role, you will develop and maintain the Cloud Platform infrastructure related to databases that serves as the foundation for our development teams. You will play a critical part in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our databases by implementing automation and improving infrastructure code quality. Platform Engineering is the department within SRE that is responsible for a range of critical infrastructure and operational functions that support the broader engineering organization. Among these are our multi-cloud-provider Kubernetes infrastructure, networking, load balancing (including our public-facing edge and internal service mesh), and observability and alerting systems. The Deployments team designs and maintains our continuous delivery infrastructure, ensuring reliable code deployment from development through production for all engineering teams. This infrastructure is primarily composed of Argo Workflows and ArgoCD.
