As a ‘t-shaped’ engineer, you will bring a broad practical knowledge across various areas of software development, complementing and supporting our growing team whilst likely having a deeper specialism in front or backend. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your existing skills, experience, and knowledge to significantly influence the trajectory of our product as we aim to revolutionize research.   What you’ll bring to the role * Deep understanding of modern web applications * Experience building Typescript/Javascript applications and using NoSQL databases * Experience using Python * Knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture * Experience using AWS (Serverless) and/or GCP * Understand the importance of driving quality into code through test automation * Have supported applications in production, with demonstrable experience of good observability practices within a full stack environment. (e.g. Rum, Tracing) * Have worked in a collaborative environment with strong engineering practices and know what good engineering looks like * Care about the product life cycle and are customer value focused * Understand the value of continuous, iterative improvement using data to drive decisions and a culture of feedback * Passionate about software development with an appetite for learning and self-improvement   What you’ll be doing in the role  * As a member of a cross-functional, stream-aligned team, you will work collaboratively with the teams’ engineering manager, product manager, designer, and up to 4-5 other engineers, including a tech lead * Using agile software development practices and a product mindset, you will work as a team to plan, build and support software that our customers love * You will be highly self-motivated and energetic and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with a bias for action * Collaborating with teams outside of product engineering, working closely with customers and understanding their needs * Be happy working in all the major cloud providers: AWS, GCP & Azure * With a You Build It, You Run It mindset, you will have intimate knowledge of our products from code commit through to production operation * Supporting production systems with monitoring tools such as Datadog * Strive for stable systems observability * You will champion our principles, fuel a growth mindset by getting involved in communities and help improve our engineering culture * Pushing the boundaries, questioning the status quo, ensuring what we are doing and what we are building has high value and impact for our users   Key Technologies  * Cloud Platforms: Google Cloud Platform and AWS * Programming Languages: Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript * Frameworks: Vue.js, Django Rest Framework, Container-based and Serverless architectures * Databases: MongoDB and DynamoDB * DevOps and Monitoring: CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Celery, EventBridge and DataDog   Why Prolific is a great place to work We've built a unique platform that connects researchers and companies with a global pool of participants, enabling the collection of high-quality, ethically sourced human behavioral data and feedback. We partner with multi-location operators in frontline-industries such as hospitality. We’re hiring a Senior Product Engineer to join our founding product team in Berlin. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves ownership, sweats UX details, and ships fast, end to end delivering value for customers. YOUR PROFILE * You have a strong product sense — you care about UX, clarity, and the tiny details that make software feel “right”. * You’re strong on the backend (you’ve built and scaled real production systems) — and you’re not afraid to go deep when needed. * You’re pragmatic and impact-driven: you know when to polish and when to ship to learn. * You write clean, understandable, maintainable code — and you communicate context early and often. * You enjoy getting close to the problem: talking to customers, understanding real-world constraints, building solutions that stick. * Experience with our stack is a plus: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Postgres, Prisma. About the role We are looking for a senior, product-minded CRO expert to build and own our experimentation engine across Product, Data and Technology. This is not a traditional CRO role. You will: Build a structured experimentation system from idea to execution Identify the highest-impact growth opportunities across the customer journey Challenge product, UX and business decisions using data Help teams prioritise what should actually be built You will work closely with Product, Tech, Design and Leadership in a fast-paced, iterative environment where decisions are driven by experimentation rather than opinion. We want someone who can: Understand the product and business deeply Build a scalable experimentation process Turn data into clear product decisions Balance product, UX, marketing and technical considerations Help the company focus on the initiatives that create the highest business impact Your responsibilities Build and own Holidog's CRO operating system Create a framework to collect, organise and prioritise ideas across teams Define hypotheses, success metrics and experimentation plans Identify opportunities across acquisition, activation, conversion, retention and marketplace performance Analyse user behaviour and business performance using data Work with Product and Engineering to execute experiments Measure results and document learnings Challenge product, UX and business decisions when appropriate Help teams make better prioritisation decisions based on impact rather than intuition Mentor teams on experimentation best practices and contribute to building a strong experimentation culture Mandatory profile requirements Candidates must meet all three of the following requirements: Product-Led CRO: Proven experience driving experimentation across product, UX and business challenges, not only marketing funnels or landing pages. Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong expertise with analytics tools (GA4, Mixpanel, Amplitude or equivalent), defining KPIs, analysing user behaviour and turning insights into actionable product decisions. Experimentation Systems: Proven ability to build scalable experimentation processes, prioritisation frameworks and cross-functional workflows that continuously generate and execute high-impact ideas.
