CORA supports call-takers on the calls that matter most. CORA is an on-screen assistant that delivers real-time SOP checklists,
smart reminders, and contextual guidance as an emergency call unfolds, so dispatchers stay calm, consistent, and confident when
every second counts. When AVA detects an emergency mid-call, it transfers the caller to a telecommunicator and passes along the
caller details, location, incident type, and key statements directly into CORA. The call-taker never starts from scratch.
The problem we're solving is serious. The average emergency communications center is 30% understaffed nationwide. Staffing
shortages drive burnout and attrition, which makes the shortage worse. Meanwhile, 60-80% of the calls coming in aren't even
emergencies at all. Aurelian addresses both sides of that equation: AVA reduces unnecessary call volume, and CORA makes every
emergency call more manageable for the people handling it.

Job Overview: As a Senior Staff Backend Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure, this role will focus on Cloud Platform Infrastructure, Services and processes at its best to enhance Cloud infrastructure reliability & system efficiencies, productivity, availability, scalability and system quality at 10X scale. This role will be responsible for diving deep into business problems, understanding current customer pain points, system domain, current Platform limitations (if exists) and then work closely with engineering teams / leaders to design and architect new system / services leveraging cloud infrastructure that can scale 10X better in terms of reliability, availability performance and efficiency. This includes providing system architecture artifacts, accountability on cloud infrastructure choices that can perform and scale at 10X level but are still efficient, guidance on using right machine type, network designs, deployment automation etc . You will be part of a Global team working from different locations but still works as a central connected unit. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation. The base pay for this position ranges from $174,000/year to $299,000/year. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Annual bonus is 0-20% of the base salary. Your customers are other engineers on the team; you'll create the systems, tools, and abstractions that make everyone more productive and our platform more reliable. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING A few examples you may work on based on our current priorities: * Analytics: Build out analytics infrastructure using ClickHouse to handle massive increases in traffic and increasingly complex queries. * Observability: Creating great instrumentation, logging, and monitoring tools to give us as much visibility as possible into where calls go wrong in production. * Developer Tooling: Testing frameworks, CLIs, automations, etc. that help our team move quickly with AI coding tools without sacrificing reliability or confidence. The Conversion Visibility Modeling team enables a performant ads marketplace and helps prove value to advertisers by connecting Pinterest onsite activity with conversions that happen offsite (both digital and physical) in a privacy-preserving way. As a Machine Learning Engineering Manager on this team, you will lead a hybrid team of ML engineers and backend software engineers to build end-to-end identity and conversion visibility solutions across modeling, serving, and data infrastructure, so advertisers retain accurate, privacy-aware performance visibility as signals fragment and degrade. You will set the technical direction for high-impact ML systems that feed ranking, bidding, measurement, and reporting across Pinterest’s ads stack. What you’ll do: * Attract, hire, develop, and lead a hybrid team of ML engineers and backend software engineers, fostering strong collaboration across modeling and infrastructure and building an inclusive, high-performing environment where the team can deliver end-to-end solutions. * Lead a team responsible for the strategy, execution, and operational excellence of identity and conversion signal modeling systems (e.g., user match prediction, conversion type/value prediction, probabilistic attribution and deduplication) that improve match precision/recall and downstream conversion quality across web and app surfaces. * Partner closely with product managers, data scientists, and tech leads to shape problem definitions, translate business needs into technical strategy, and drive execution toward high-impact outcomes. * Collaborate closely with Ads Ranking & Bidding, Measurement Products, and Conversion Ingestion & Attribution teams to define interfaces, SLAs, and success metrics that enable end-to-end identity and conversion visibility systems—including models, data pipelines, and serving surfaces—to integrate cleanly into the broader ads ecosystem. * Establish engineering best practices across both ML and backend development, including data quality, feature and data pipelines, model evaluation, experimentation, service reliability, and operational excellence, so the team can build trustworthy ML-powered systems end to end. * Use AI to accelerate analysis and iteration on model ideas and architectures, while applying strong judgment, testing, and verification to ensure correctness, reliability, and advertiser trust.
