What you’ll do: Design, build and ship full-stack features in Python and TypeScript, using AI-assisted workflows to accelerate execution while maintaining high quality and ownership from concept through iteration Design and evolve systems with a strong focus on architecture, boundaries and long-term maintainability, making sound technical decisions across APIs, data models, caching and testing Own problem spaces end-to-end, including shaping ambiguous requirements, defining the right approach and guiding execution toward robust, scalable solutions Continuously improve the codebase by simplifying solutions, reducing technical complexity and driving changes that have an impact across the team and system Guide and review implementation, including work produced through AI-assisted workflows, ensuring quality, consistency and alignment with system design What we’re looking for: Strong coding ability in JavaScript or TypeScript and at least one backend language, combined with the ability to evaluate, guide and refine implementation to reach production-ready outcomes efficiently Proven experience building and shipping features in a fast-moving product environment, with a track record of delivering high-quality solutions with real impact Experience owning features end-to-end, including shaping requirements, making technical decisions and iterating based on feedback and outcomes Strong understanding of system design, with attention to architecture, abstraction and long-term maintainability Experience using AI-assisted development tools, or a strong interest in adopting them as a core part of how you design, build and iterate on software How we hire Discovery call with a Recruiter Hiring manager discussion Live coding session Values discussion Systems design session Leadership talk Every qualified person will be evaluated regardless of age, gender, identity, nationality, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability status or religion. The Team The Box team owns one of Instabee's most tangible products: our locker network. We build and maintain the full software ecosystem that powers 6,000+ lockers — from cloud backend services to the software running on the physical hardware itself. What You'll Work On The team’s focus and responsibilities span a wide range of areas, but everything is centered around the user experience at the parcel lockers. This means working with supporting backend solutions (Golang), the user interface at the locker itself (React), cloud services (Google Cloud), and other related applications. With our roadmap mainly centered around the locker experience, much of the engineering work focuses on building and evolving the software that powers the devices themselves. It’s a pragmatic, flexible environment where no two problems look the same. As a Senior Software Engineer, on a daily basis, you'll: Shape the architecture — Contribute to key technical decisions and drive solutions that balance robustness with speed of delivery Work across the stack — Hands-on implementation from cloud services to hardware-adjacent software Collaborate closely — Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to refine requirements and build things that matter Raise the bar — Code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of systems and processes Who You Are You're a pragmatic engineer who enjoys working across boundaries — backend and frontend, software and hardware, ambiguity and clarity. You take ownership, collaborate naturally, and care about how your work functions in the real world. You bring: 5+ years of Software Engineering experience Proficiency in Golang, or the confidence and track record to pick it up fast Experience with working in a Linux environment A product mindset — you think about impact, not just implementation Experience working in agile development environments.
