The Team The Box team owns one of Instabee's most tangible products: our locker network. We build and maintain the full software ecosystem that powers 6,000+ lockers — from cloud backend services to the software running on the physical hardware itself. It's a space where reliability, scalability, and real-world constraints collide daily, and where the gap between a code change and a real-world outcome is remarkably short. We operate as an autonomous, cross-functional team with full ownership of our product lifecycle — from design and development through to deployment and iteration. What You'll Work On The team’s focus and responsibilities span a wide range of areas, but everything is centered around the user experience at the parcel lockers. This means working with supporting backend solutions (Golang), the user interface at the locker itself (React), cloud services (Google Cloud), and other related applications. With our roadmap mainly centered around the locker experience, much of the engineering work focuses on building and evolving the software that powers the devices themselves. It’s a pragmatic, flexible environment where no two problems look the same. As a Senior Software Engineer, on a daily basis, you'll: Shape the architecture — Contribute to key technical decisions and drive solutions that balance robustness with speed of delivery Work across the stack — Hands-on implementation from cloud services to hardware-adjacent software Collaborate closely — Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to refine requirements and build things that matter Raise the bar — Code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of systems and processes Who You Are You're a pragmatic engineer who enjoys working across boundaries — backend and frontend, software and hardware, ambiguity and clarity. You take ownership, collaborate naturally, and care about how your work functions in the real world. You bring: 5+ years of Software Engineering experience Proficiency in Golang, or the confidence and track record to pick it up fast Experience with working in a Linux environment A product mindset — you think about impact, not just implementation Experience working in agile development environments. Contribute to architectural discussions and propose practical solutions in a fast-moving, exploratory environment. Champion best practices in testing, monitoring, and observability to keep data products reliable and secure. Proficiency in Python for data and ML workflows. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or similar) and modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Argo CD). Familiarity with Kafka and dbt/SQL for streaming and transformations. Experience with Spark or similar distributed processing frameworks is a plus. YOUR MISSION AT VOI As an Engineering Manager at Voi, you will lead and grow a cross-functional product team while staying close to the code. This role is ideal for a strong technical lead ready to take a first step into people management – someone who wants to shape team culture, support engineers’ growth, and drive delivery without leaving their technical roots behind. The Monetisation team owns Voi’s core payment flows, subscriptions, upsell and in-app advertising. The technical scope spans core backend systems, payment integrations, native mobile client views and more. WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK You are a hands-on, collaborative engineer with a passion for both technology and people. You enjoy working across domains, take ownership of delivery and are curious about how AI can elevate the way teams build software. 4+ years of hands-on experience as an engineer in modern tech stacks, building reliable software in a fast-paced environment. A generalist mindset with experience in backend, web and/or mobile development. 2+ years of experience in a tech lead, senior or informal leadership capacity – you have guided others technically, even if you have not held a management title. No prior people management experience required – this is a growth area we will support you in. Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (for example modern code assistants) and a genuine interest in agentic engineering workflows. You lean into these tools and help your team build the skillset to use them effectively. Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate both technical and cross-functional conversations with ease. Fluency in English, written and spoken. Don’t meet every requirement?
