Your role at QRT
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Core Data & Lifecycle Engineering team in Sydney.
This team builds and owns critical systems that sit at the heart of QRT’s trading operations—powering trade and position lifecycle
management, reference data, and reporting workflows across all asset classes. These systems are highly visible and directly
influence trading decisions, risk management, and operational efficiency.
This is primarily a hands-on engineering role (≈80% development), with a smaller component (≈20% support and system ownership)
focused on maintaining robustness, reliability, and data quality in production.
You’ll work closely with trading, research, risk, and operations teams, gaining strong exposure to the business while building
scalable, high-performance systems.

Your future role within QRT The successful candidate will join the global infrastructure team at QRT. You will be responsible for architecting, engineering and subsequent delivery oversight across all aspects of the QRT network estate but with particular focus on our colocation infrastructure. The trading infrastructure is a combination of wide area connectivity and ultra-low latency trading infrastructures. The team will deliver network solutions which enable full lifecycle management (architect, design, build, operate, retire) for our network components across core network switching, firewalls, load balancers, instrumentation/telemetry, network CMDB, and automation. It is crucial that any candidates must be able to demonstrate delivery of complex networks, at scale, which have been delivered through a software and automation-driven mindset. You will have deep knowledge of high-performance networking, including detailed knowledge of the product capabilities and roadmaps from the likes of Cisco, Arista and Fortinet. You will have direct experience of delivering and managing network solutions supporting corporate infrastructure and exchange specific ultra-low latency infrastructure with associated automation, telemetry and instrumentation frameworks. Your present skillset * As a senior network engineer, you will partner closely with the project management teams and work in a highly collaborative manner within the network team and the wider organisation * You will be member of an existing engineering team where you have direct responsibility and accountability for a complex and high-performance network infrastructures * You will be able to demonstrate expert knowledge of delivering complex network architectures delivered via software driven and agile methodology * You will have deep knowledge of delivering networks supporting high-performance and low latency computing architectures * You will have deep knowledge of the network vendor ecosystem and be able to demonstrate building engineering relationships at senior layers with vendor product and engineering teams * You will stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the network infrastructure remains cutting-edge * You will have knowledge of wide area network engineering focused on traffic prioritisation and steering. Technical Service Engineers are specialists in the entire MongoDB ecosystem - database server, drivers, our management suite, and services such as Cloud Manager (the online product we developed for customers for automation, backup, monitoring, and analysis of their MongoDB systems). The position will be based in our Sydney or Melbourne offices. The standard work week post ramping will be Sunday to Thursday, every week. Along the way, our customers encounter questions and issues about how our approach to databases works for their use case. In Technical Services, it's our job to help these people. You'll be working alongside our largest customers, solving their complex issues - resolving questions on architecture, performance, recovery, security, and everything in between. You'll be an expert resource on standard methodologies in running MongoDB at scale, whatever that scale may be. You'll be an advocate for customers' needs - working with our product management and development teams on their behalf. And you'll contribute to internal projects, including software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics. MongoDB Technical Services puts a strong focus on engineers enabling their peers to be successful by sharing newly gained technical knowledge with the team, either via informal one-to-one conversations, or training and workshop sessions. By documenting solutions in our knowledge platform, TSEs will increase the efficiency of our customers, other team members and departments throughout MongoDB. WHAT YOU NEED You should have 4+ years of proven experience, we consider all candidates with an eye for those who are self-taught, insatiably curious, and multi-faceted. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE A MIX OF EXPERIENCE IN MOST OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS: * Strong diagnostics and troubleshooting experience, with the ability to analyse issues holistically, from the application tier, to database to storage * Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability, and scalability * Systems engineering experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting * Ability to read code, and basic coding/scripting ability in one or more languages: Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, Go, etc * Good understanding of Networking concepts and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, etc.) * Storage engineering experience, including NAS, RAID, SAN, SSD, multi-pathing, and caching * Experience supporting complex mission-critical product applications and database systems (RDBMS or non-relational) You should possess a genuine desire to help people, the ability to think on your feet and remain calm under pressure while solving problems in real-time. There’s a lot to learn, so the desire and ability to rapidly learn a wide variety of new technical skills is paramount. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * 8+ years of sales or prospecting experience at a technology company and a track record of top performance * Owning a direct sales quota, with direct sales experience closing new business and expanding existing users * A proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with business partners * The ability to deal with ambiguity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment * A proven ability to be a self-starter capable of driving business results without significant supervision * A hands-on mentality * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Strong presentation skills, particularly for in-person meetings with multiple stakeholders * Proven ability to lead complex negotiations involving bespoke commercial agreements * Ability to understand complex technical requirements and craft solutions across multiple stakeholders PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * * 5+ years of experience selling financial services or similar software * Experience in selling billing solutions * Proven ability to sell in a fast-paced environment
