About the role The objective of this position is to strengthen the team’s capacity to develop and apply data-driven and systems-based approaches across water, coastal and marine domains – including federated data systems, decision-support tools and geospatial analysis – while contributing to project leadership and new funding opportunities. The researcher will work across the team’s three pillars and multiple projects, bringing methodological coherence to data-intensive work and reducing dependence on the team lead for analytical coordination. About the team The Water, Coasts and Ocean Team works across three thematic pillars: Resilient Infrastructures, One Water and Blue Economy. Across these pillars, the team addresses increasingly complex challenges involving data integration, cross-sectoral cooperation and digital decision-support – from freshwater systems and coastal resilience to offshore infrastructure and critical national services. Several funded projects now require integrated capacity in data (systems, modelling and governance). Recruiting a researcher with strong expertise in data systems is a strategic priority for delivery, proposal development and analytical leadership. Key responsibilities Lead and contribute to data systems work: integration, interoperability, security and application in decision-support tools across sectors Apply and promote FAIR data principles (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reusability) and related standards in project data management Develop and implement digital and data-driven approaches for infrastructure risk assessment, resilience planning and coastal and marine management Contribute to SAFEWIN’s development of federated learning approaches for cross-sectoral data cooperation in sensitive infrastructure contexts Contribute to KRAFT’s analysis of data management challenges and cascading risks across critical infrastructure systems Engage with Swedish and international stakeholders, including public agencies, research partners and practitioners Translate complex data and modelling outputs into policy-relevant insights, project reports, publications and stakeholder-facing materials Contribute to proposal development and fundraising for new projects Support project coordination and supervision of junior researchers where relevant What we are looking for We do not expect candidates to have expertise across all areas listed. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong foundations in either data systems and digital methods or the governance and application of digital tools, combined with a demonstrated ability to work across disciplinary and sectoral boundaries. Experience in or genuine interest in water, coastal, marine or critical infrastructure contexts is valued but not required. Essential PhD in data science, environmental informatics, computer science, infrastructure systems or a related field; candidates without a PhD must demonstrate equivalent independent research experience, including a track record of securing funding Strong experience with data integration, modelling, spatial analysis or the development of digital decision-support tools Experience eliciting user requirements and translating them into analytical methods, digital tools or decision-support products Experience working with data from complex, multi-sectoral or infrastructure-related contexts Working proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g. Python, R) for data analysis or tool development Ability to lead analytical work packages within interdisciplinary research projects Familiarity with data governance, metadata standards, interoperability frameworks and data architectures supporting the sharing and use of data across organizations or sectors Experience contributing to or leading research funding proposals, with a track record of securing funds at a scale commensurate with career stage Strong publication record or equivalent output in applied research settings Excellent written and oral communication skills in English Desirable Experience with federated learning, privacy-preserving computation or cross-sectoral data governance Familiarity with GIS and geospatial data tools Background in or demonstrable familiarity with critical infrastructure systems, offshore energy, marine monitoring or defence-adjacent data environments Working proficiency in Swedish Who you are This is a cross-cutting role open to candidates at mid- or senior-researcher level. Both levels are genuinely considered; the appointment will reflect the experience and profile of the successful candidate. The ideal candidate at either level combines technical depth in data systems with the ability to engage meaningfully with governance, policy and stakeholder dimensions – and to translate between these registers. The role sits at the technical–policy interface that characterizes SEI’s comparative advantage. We are not looking for a pure engineer or a pure policy analyst, but someone who understands data systems well enough to make credible technical contributions and is intellectually curious about the institutional, political and governance dimensions of how data is managed and shared in complex settings. Mid-level researcher – A mid-level researcher will have demonstrated the ability to work independently on analytical and data-intensive tasks within research projects. They will have some experience contributing to funding proposals and may have secured smaller grants or project components, though not necessarily in a leading role. They may have worked within teams or independently without formal management responsibilities, and will have an emerging publication record or equivalent demonstrated output in applied research settings. Senior researcher – A senior researcher will have a demonstrated track record of independently mobilizing research or innovation funding, including having led funding applications, not only participated in teams led by others. They will have successfully secured funds both for their own work and to support others, and will have held leadership positions with responsibility for more junior staff. They will have built a recognized area of work, evidenced through a sustained publication record, a portfolio of funded projects or equivalent standing in applied or policy research communities.
Södertörn University welcomes doctoral proposals in History, to be conducted within the research project: “Money(-)making empire. Monetary policies and practices in the Swedish Baltic Empire, ca. 1600–1800”. Visit the project website for more information https://moneymakingempire.se/. The project “Money(-)making Empire” examines monetary evolution in the Baltic Sea region within the broader context of early modern Northern Europe, using the Swedish Empire as a case study. Conceptualising the empire as a polycentric polity, the project challenges nation-state–centred historiography and instead analyses money as a transregional lens through which flows of power, conflict, and integration can be traced across imperial spaces. Monetary policy was central to both warfare and empire-building and its effects extended far beyond Sweden proper, influencing peasants, soldiers, merchants, urban authorities, and foreign rulers across the Baltic Sea Region. For a Swedish version https://www.sh.se/forskning/forskarutbildning/forskarutbildningsomraden/historiska-studier. Description of the doctoral position The successful applicants will complete their doctoral theses as part of the project and within its thematic and theoretical framework. These doctoral projects may adopt a range of perspectives, such as analyses of monetary practices and discourses among and/or between different social groups (such as the nobility, merchants, peasants, and burghers), as well as political and administrative discourses, policies, and practices at the imperial, national, and/or local levels. We therefore welcome applications that encompass the full spectrum of approaches, from macro- to micro-level studies of social and cultural relations and practices, provided that they align with the project’s aims. The project advances three interrelated analytical perspectives. First, it emphasises the polycentric nature of the Swedish Empire, integrating its Baltic and German provinces into a single framework and showing how power was negotiated through multiple institutional and social centres. Second, it treats money not merely as an economic instrument but as a practical and socially embedded problem, foregrounding everyday monetary practices, coin shortages, and alternative means of exchange among ordinary people. Third, it focuses on circulation, examining how money, knowledge, and practices moved across regions and how popular reactions – petitions, protests and riots – both responded to and constrained state policy. Methodologically, the project combines quantitative analysis with qualitative readings. Beyond its historical contribution, the project offers comparative insights into early modern composite states and provides a historically grounded perspective on contemporary monetary integration and tension in the Baltic Sea region and Europe more broadly. The work environment at Södertörn University, as well as within the research project, is bilingual, with both Swedish and English as working languages. Entry requirements The general entry requirements are: 1. a second-cycle qualification, or 2. fulfilled requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle, or 3. substantially equivalent knowledge acquired in some other way in Sweden or abroad. The Faculty Board may permit an exemption from the general entry requirements for an individual applicant, if there are special grounds. (Ordinance 2010:1064) Specific entry requirements The specific entry requirements are met by someone who has at least 90 credits in History, Economic History, the History of Ideas or the equivalent and who has authored an independent dissertation in History worth at least 15 credits at Master’s level. Prerequisites for undertaking the degree programme are the ability to assimilate scientific work in English and command of the language necessary for work on the thesis. Eligible applicants will first be ranked according to their ability to assimilate education at research level, then other qualifications will be reviewed on the basis of this ranking. The applicant’s communication and cooperation skills may also be assessed using references and interviews Admission and employment This position includes admission to third-cycle education, i.e. research level, and employment on a doctoral studentship at the School of Historical and Contemporary Studies at Södertörn University. The intended outcome for admitted students is a PhD. The programme covers 240 credits, which is the equivalent of four years of full-time study. The position may be extended by a maximum of one year due to the inclusion of departmental duties, i.e. education, research and/or administration (equivalent to no more than 20% of full-time). Other grounds for extension could be leave of absence because of illness or for service in the defence forces, an elected position in a trade union/student organisation, or parental leave. Provisions relating to employment on a doctoral studentship are in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Sections 1-7. EQT is looking for an Application & AI Cyber Security Engineer to join our Cyber Security Engineering team, owning the security posture of our hosted applications, container platforms, and AI environments. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will build automated guardrails and real-time visibility — making the secure path the easy path across a modern, globally distributed technology landscape. ABOUT THE TEAM The Cyber Security Engineering team defines and validates security standards across EQT's technology landscape. Operating as a trusted security function, the team works closely with platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, identity, and technology assurance teams to strengthen controls while enabling innovation. This role sits within a small, high-trust team where collaboration, curiosity, and technical depth are core to how we work. The team supports both traditional application environments and emerging AI and agentic platforms, helping EQT navigate a rapidly evolving threat landscape with practical, engineering-led security standards. You will report to the Head of Digital Employee Experience and partner closely with the CISO function, contributing engineering depth directly to governance and policy decisions. ABOUT THE ROLE This role brings together application security, container security, and AI security into one evolving discipline — giving you the scope to influence standards, technical controls, and governance frameworks across a global technology environment. The mandate is to build automated guardrails and observability at scale, not to review individual applications by hand. * Design and deploy automated controls for container platforms and application deployments — admission controllers, policy-as-code, and pre-configured scanning — that enforce standards at the point of deployment rather than after the fact. * A growing part of the job is enabling citizen development — making sure non-technical teams can use AI coding tools like Claude Code and CoWork without needing to come through security first, because the guardrails are already there. * Curate internal security tooling, automation, and AI skills for cost, reliability, and security posture — favouring deterministic, scripted components that run fast and cheap over token-intensive approaches, and tracking cost-per-outcome across security controls as a core operating discipline. * Own container security standards as enforceable controls: image scanning policy, runtime baselines, and registry governance across all deployment paths, including workloads outside formal pipelines. * Manage software supply chain risk end-to-end, including dependency scanning, build-time and runtime composition analysis, and identifying high-propagation risk junctions. * Build application security observability that goes beyond static inventories — a live picture of what is deployed, what it is composed of, and where risk is concentrated — and provide actionable dashboards for engineering leadership and the CISO function. * Own the security configuration of EQT's AI platforms, including hardening, access controls, data flow governance, and defences against prompt injection and data exfiltration. * Assess MCP connector risk — API call patterns, data processing terms, allowlist maintenance, and dependency chains — and evaluate new AI tools with enough technical depth to inform CISO-level approval decisions. * Define behavioural baselines for agentic execution environments and close AI-specific insider threat gaps, ensuring monitoring tools can see into AI data flows. * Collaborate with Detection & Insider Threat Engineers on container runtime telemetry, and with Identity & Cloud Security Engineers on service identity, workload access, and secrets management. TOOLS YOU'LL WORK WITH Kubernetes, CI/CD platforms, SBOM tooling, Aikido, Claude Enterprise, Claude Code, MCP, CoWork, DTEX, Datadog, policy-as-code frameworks. ABOUT YOU You are a technically grounded security engineer who cares deeply about developer experience and approaches security friction as a design problem to solve, not a trade-off to accept. You work with clarity and ownership, communicate technical findings to senior stakeholders with confidence, and are actively building your knowledge of AI and agentic security. What you'll bring (must-have): * Proven hands-on experience with container security — Kubernetes, image scanning, admission control, runtime protection, and policy-as-code. * A track record of building automated security controls that scale, with an instinct for making the right path easy and the wrong path hard rather than relying on manual review. * Solid application security fundamentals, including familiarity with OWASP Top 10, secure development lifecycle, and software supply chain risk, with an orientation toward enforcement over assessment. * Experience building security visibility into running systems through instrumentation, runtime analysis, or operational dashboards — understanding the difference between knowing what was shipped and knowing what is actually executing in production. * Active use of AI-assisted development tools in your own engineering work (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent); this role is designed around that way of working. * Early or growing experience in AI and LLM security — including prompt injection, data exfiltration, model API security, or agentic system controls — and a clear appetite to develop expertise in this space. * The ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders who will translate them into policy and governance decisions. Nice to have: * Familiarity with tools such as CrowdStrike, Aikido, Bold Security, Nightfall, Zscaler, or Lakera Guard. * Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol), agentic frameworks, or AI platform administration. * Background working in private equity, financial services, or other environments where non-public information is a primary asset requiring protection. * Experience measuring and optimising the operational cost of security controls. * Comfort deploying and working with local open-source LLMs for automation use cases. HOW WE THINK ABOUT THIS ROLE Application security and AI security share a common threat model — data exfiltration, supply chain compromise, and the boundary between trusted and untrusted code. AI connectors that interact with hosted services sit squarely in both domains. Splitting them into separate roles at a five-person team would create seams in exactly the places attackers exploit. The role is also shaped by a bet on AI-augmented engineering. An engineer with good tooling, a real token budget, and the discipline to automate before they assess can cover ground that would have required a larger team not long ago. We've designed the headcount around that — not to cut corners, but because the best security engineering now looks like one person building excellent guardrails with AI, not several people reviewing things by hand. WHAT WE OFFER At EQT, you will work in an environment that combines high impact with high trust, contributing to security challenges that matter at a global scale. You will help shape practices in areas that are rapidly evolving across the industry — AI security, software supply chain security, and modern application platforms — with direct influence on governance decisions and engineering standards. We offer meaningful and complex work with global reach, close collaboration with experienced colleagues across security, engineering, and technology, and genuine exposure to emerging AI technologies and cloud-native platforms. EQT has a culture that values curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning, with real opportunities for professional development in a fast-moving environment. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS NOTICE We offer a competitive total rewards package including base salary, determined based on the role, experience, skill set, and location. Eligible employees may also receive discretionary incentive compensation, awarded in recognition of individual performance and company results. EQT provides a comprehensive benefits offering designed to support employee wellbeing, development, and work-life balance.
