We are now looking for motivated Seasonal Greenhouse Workers to join our production team in Vallentuna. You will receive a thorough introduction before you begin. What you will do Plant, care for, and monitor tulips, hyacinths, and amaryllis throughout the production cycle. Monitor crop quality and support healthy plant growth. Harvest flowers and prepare them for packing and distribution. Operate and clean greenhouse equipment, workstations and production areas according to established routines. Support daily production with bulb handling, flower handling, inventory tasks, and other production-related duties. Move flowers, pots, trays, and other materials within the greenhouse. Working environment The work is physically active and includes standing, walking, repetitive tasks, and manual handling throughout the day. Some lifting is required as part of the daily work. While the lifting is generally not very heavy, you should be comfortable performing physical work. You will not work inside a freezer. Occasionally, work may take place in refrigerated storage areas, and warm clothing is provided when needed. Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua) Climate change is impacting aquatic ecosystems worldwide, creating an urgent need for management strategies that strengthen ecological resilience and support sustainable use of aquatic resources. In this two-year postdoctoral project, you will use quantitative  evidence-based syntheses to identify how aquatic management can enhance ecosystem resilience to the impacts of climate change. This position offers opportunities for career development at the interface between ecological research and practical management through scientific publishing, conference participation, and stakeholder engagement.  About the position We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a strong interest in evidence-based conservation and restoration ecology. The project combines fundamental ecological and evolutionary research with applied management science to address: Which management interventions most effectively increase resilience to climate change in aquatic ecosystems? How do dispersal, ecological interactions and evolutionary adaptation influence the success of climate adaptation measures? How can evidence synthesis be translated into practical decision support for environmental managers? You will apply systematic reviews, meta-analyses and other evidence synthesis methods to answer these questions. The work includes close collaboration with practitioners to ensure scientifically robust and practically relevant guidance for climate adaptation. The project is expected to result in scientific publications while directly informing evidence-based environmental policy and management. We offer a collaborative research environment with strong links between fundamental ecological research and environmental management. The successful candidate will have opportunities to publish in leading international journals, present their work at international conferences, collaborate with practitioners and policy makers to develop an independent research profile. Your profile You must hold a PhD in Biology (ecology/evolution), Environmental science or similar discipline. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses or other relevant evidence-synthesising methods should have formed a central part of your thesis or academic career. Experience of research relevant for environmental management, decision support or governance of aquatic resources, and collaborating with practitioners, especially in coastal and marine areas, is an advantage. Department of Forest Resource Management Would you like to help shape the future of the forest landscape? We are currently looking for a postdoctoral researcher for a two-year position based at the Department of Forest Resource Management at SLU in Umeå. About the position We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a particular interest in forest landscape modelling. As part of a two-year postdoctoral project, you will use the Heureka decision support system to analyse how different forest management strategies affect biodiversity and the provision of ecosystem services, as well as how these interact with the development of wind power. The work involves quantifying conflicts and synergies between different sustainability goals in the forest landscape using simulation and optimisation. The analysis will be based on spatially explicit future scenarios, developed in collaboration with various stakeholder groups, and will include indicators such as biomass production, carbon sequestration, recreational values and wind energy. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who has recently completed, or is close to completing, a PhD and has training in statistics, data processing, bioinformatics, or a related discipline, to contribute to research on disorders of the brain. You will work with some degree of independence as a postdoctoral researcher in a group studying Parkinson’s disease and other alpha-synuclein–related diseases (alpha-synucleinopathies) within the David Bäckström lab (umu.se), primarily multiple system atrophy (MSA) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). Our aim is to understand what causes these diseases, how synapses in the brain are affected in them, how these disorders lead to dementia, and—if possible—how they can be treated or prevented. Project Description The research group currently consists of 3–5 members and collaborates closely with the Departments of Neurology, Pathology, and Radiology at Norrlands University Hospital (NUS), as well as Umeå University. The group includes a principal investigator, a PhD student, a research nurse, and several affiliated researchers and students. Our research spans the spectrum from epidemiological studies to analyses of cerebrospinal fluid, genetics, and protein biochemistry related to Parkinson’s disease and other alpha-synucleinopathies. A major focus is on genetic and lifestyle-related risk factors in individuals affected by these currently incurable disorders, to understand their causes and how they relate to synaptic dysfunction and impaired cell endocytosis. This research involves both clinical studies of patients and molecular biological analyses carried out locally in Umeå and through international collaborations, enabling robust findings across multiple datasets. Postdoctoral position in Plant Evolutionary Genomics and Pangenomics Department of Plant Biology About the position A postdoctoral position in plant evolutionary genomics is available in the Yant Lab at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala, Sweden. The successful candidate will contribute to developing the first Swedish-focused European ash pangenome, integrating long-read genome assemblies with population-scale sequencing to understand disease resistance and local adaptation across Europe. The project combines large-scale population genomics, graph-based pangenomics, structural variant discovery, genome-wide association studies, and evolutionary genomics using state-of-the-art long-read sequencing and computational genomic approaches. The successful candidate will work closely with collaborators at other SLU campuses, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and other European partners, contributing to both methodological developments and biological discovery. In Sweden, some 300,000 individuals and families own about 50% of the forestland that spans across two-thirds of the country. These family forest owners will need to undertake the preponderance of actions for creating more biodiverse forests in Sweden. In an interdisciplinary project funded by the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation, we pose three specific research questions: What salient elements in cognitive models represent family forest owners’ perceptions and judgement strategies about forest biodiversity on their ownerships? Do family forest owners have the capability, opportunity and motivation to change towards biodiversity-enhancing forest management behaviors? Can interventions providing financial compensation encourage family forest owners’ change toward adopting biodiversity-enhancing forest management behaviors? To help answer these questions, we seek to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to join researchers in applied economics, psychology, and forestry. The candidate will support the integration of behavioral science principles and natural resource management knowledge into relevant research designs; developing research questions; applying appropriate analytical methods; and writing scientific manuscripts.
