ABOUT THE ROLE X Shore is rebuilding operations and product development under new ownership. We are now looking for a Mechanical Engineering & Analysis Manager to lead the structural and mechanical integrity of our electric boats — ensuring that every hull, component, and assembly that leaves Nyköping is designed right, validated correctly, and built to last. This is a leadership role with deep technical ownership. You will guide a small engineering team, drive analysis and simulation work, and be the person who signs off that our mechanical solutions are both safe and manufacturable. The role is based on-site at our office and production facility in Nyköping. ROLE PURPOSE Own the mechanical engineering function — from concept validation and structural analysis through to production release — ensuring that X Shore boats are designed to specification, analysed to standard, and handed to production with complete and correct documentation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead mechanical engineering and structural analysis activities across the X Shore product range * Own FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD simulations — from setup through to results interpretation and design recommendations * Define and maintain engineering standards, tolerances, and material specifications * Review and approve drawings, 3D models, and engineering change orders * Manage product validation testing: define test plans, oversee execution, and sign off results * Work closely with production engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable and assembly-ready * Lead root cause analysis on field failures, warranty cases, and production non-conformances * Maintain the mechanical BOM structure and ensure drawing revisions are controlled and complete * Support supplier development — reviewing manufacturing capabilities and engaging on critical components * Build and develop a small team of mechanical engineers, setting clear priorities and technical standards * Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and certification activities (e.g. CE, RCD) TECHNICAL DEPTH — WHAT WE NEED X Shore builds high-performance electric boats in marine-grade aluminium and composite materials. Job Scope Why does the role exist? High level purpose of function. The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in process equipment commissioning, production ramp-up, and full-scale manufacturing within a battery cell production facility. They ensure smooth start-up of production lines, optimize manufacturing processes, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to maximize process yield, equipment availability, and overall production performance. This role combines hands-on equipment commissioning experience, cross-functional collaboration, and technical expertise to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality battery cell production. The manufacturing engineer is responsible for all aspects of their process machine including technical functionality, how personnel interact with it, what maintenance activities are recommended, and what crucial spares are required. Requirements Educational background and previous experience required for the role Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering. Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in production, equipment, or engineering-related roles. Proven track record of leading manufacturing process improvements and production optimization in a factory environment following recognised project management techniques. Experience in building and scaling production in a fast-growing environment, ideally within the battery, food, pharma, paper & pulp, semiconductor, electrochemical, or similar industries. Hands-on experience and interest in equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimisation. Proficient in detailed root cause analysis, structured problem-solving methodologies and continuous improvement. Familiarity with quality assurance troubleshooting tools. Experience working to industry standards obtaining certification including ISO, IATF &VDA . Experience with statistical process control and process capability analysis. Specific skills & Knowledge Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and six sigma methodologies . Knowledge of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) metrics and their application in production environments. · Strong technical curiosity, analytical mindset, and business-oriented problem-solving skills. · Troubleshooting skills with diagnostic equipment. Ability to document technical problems concisely. Excellent English skills, both written and oral, are essential. Basic Swedish and other language skills are a plus. You should have good communication skills and be able to work in close collaboration with colleagues from many different teams. Ability to work within varying environments including clean-rooms and dry-rooms, while wearing appropriate PPE. Comfortable operating in high-profile, international, and high-pressure environments. YOUR MISSION AT VOI As a Mechanical Engineer in Voi’s Vehicle HW team, you will play a key role in developing the next generations of our vehicles - from setting requirements and guiding and reviewing suppliers’ end-to-end work including concept design, testing and industrialisation. You will safeguard that the hardware we bring to market is high performing i.e. safe , reliable, great UX, easily repairable and built for scale, together with colleagues across R&D, Quality, Supply Chain and our markets. In this role you will: * Lead the end-to-end co-development of next-generation vehicle hardware in close collaboration with suppliers and Voi teams * Define engineering requirements and specifications, provide feedback on concepts and designs, and review supplier test plans and reports to ensure solutions meet Voi’s performance, reliability and repairability targets. * Support root cause analysis, and work with suppliers and internal teams to develop robust mitigation and resolution actions - feeding learnings into future hardware generations. * Design new add-ons and variants in-house, taking full ownership from requirements and drive the project end-to-end including CAD design, sample evaluation, testing, verification and industrialisation. * Work hands-on with sample builds and mass produced vehicles to assess, design improvements across multiple dimensions including serviceability, UX and operational handling in our workshops and markets. * Travel regularly (approximately quarterly) to China for a few weeks at a time, as well as to Voi markets in Europe, to work closely with suppliers and support in-field issues. You will collaborate with a broad set of stakeholders including suppliers’ project managers and engineers, the wider Vehicle HW team (mechanical, electrical, test and certification), Quality, Supply Chain, IoT & SW, Product and local market teams. WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK You are a hands-on mechanical engineer who enjoys owning the full development process and working at the intersection of design, suppliers, testing and operations. You thrive in a scale-up environment, are energised by collaboration and are motivated by seeing your designs roll out on the streets for our customers to use on a daily basis. * Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline, ideally Mechanical Engineering. * Strong end-to-end experience in mechanical product development, including requirement setting, design, testing and verification, and industrialisation. * Proven experience working closely with suppliers, ideally Chinese suppliers, on co-development projects. * Extensive experience with CAD, and solid exposure to CAE and FEA tools, applied throughout the development process. * Experience conducting hands-on assessments and driving design improvements related to repairability, serviceability and field performance. * Experience working with DFMEA and PFMEA, and with reliability-focused testing and verification. * Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams such as project managers, electrical engineers, test and verification engineers, Quality, Procurement, Firmware and Supply Chain. * Excellent problem-solving skills; being data driven and able to work with SQL is a strong plus. * Strong communication skills, enabling efficient collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders. * Fluency in English, written and spoken; proficiency in Chinese is a plus. * Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects simultaneously, including regular international travel.
