Senior Product Engineer

We build digital products that millions of people use every day. Our motto is Shape, Ship, Scale; we work out what to build, ship

it and help it grow. Now we’re looking for a product engineer in Gothenburg who has Shape, Ship, Scale in their DNA.

We are a small team at Umain in Gothenburg, and we share an office with around 40 colleagues from across Eidra. So it’s a close

team with a much bigger room behind it.

You will shape, build and ship digital products for Swedish and international clients. This means that you will be responsible of

working on projects of significant scale:

Most of our work is in Kotlin, Go, and TypeScript, and we pick the tool that fits the project rather than forcing one stack onto

everything.

A product engineer at Umain thrives at the intersection between product management and software engineering. You work close to

clients and stakeholders, help figure out what’s worth building and then build it. Often that means taking a rough idea, a new

feature of a whole new app, and turning it into a working proof of concept fast enough that people can react to something real

instead of a slide.

The good PoC’s don’t get thrown away. You build them so they can be extended into proper products, and you help carry them there

together with product, design, backend, mobile and QA.

We start from the customer's need, not the solution: who the users are, what they’re trying to do, and the smallest thing we can

build to learn whether we’re right. That becomes a clear spec, and the spec is the source of truth. We break the work into tasks

agents can complete, run them in parallel, verify the output with tests, evals and review, and ship. Then we put it in front of

real people and decide together what to cut, what to keep, and what to harden. Agents do much of the implementation. You own the

problem framing, the spec, the orchestration and the quality of the result.

What you’ll do

Shape

• Strong requirement and problem-framing skills: you can work from actors to use cases to features with clear acceptance

criteria.

• Hands-on experience delivering production software with coding agents (for example Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or similar),

beyond autocomplete.

In consulting the next project rarely looks like the last one. If that sounds like a feature rather than a risk, you’ll fit in

well.

No algorithm puzzles. The technical part of the process is a conversation at a whiteboard: we give you a realistic product

scenario, and you take it from idea to a system that could actually ship, talking us through your choices as you go. We’re

interested in how you think and navigate a problem, not in a finished design.
