Department of Forest Bioeconomy and Technology We are seeking an engaged and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary research collaboration between the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Umeå University, and the University of Massachusetts. As Sweden and the EU work towards ambitious biodiversity and ecosystem restoration goals, understanding the human dimensions of forest management is increasingly important. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to research at the intersection of psychology, economics, and forestry, helping to inform decisions towards more resilient forest landscapes. The complete advertisement is available at: https://www.slu.se/en/about-slu/work-at-slu/jobs-and-vacancies/ About the position The EU Nature Restoration Law and Sweden’s environmental quality goals stipulate societal demands for more biodiverse landscapes. In Sweden, some 300,000 individuals and families own about 50% of the forestland that spans across two-thirds of the country. These family forest owners will need to undertake the preponderance of actions for creating more biodiverse forests in Sweden. In an interdisciplinary project funded by the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation, we pose three specific research questions: What salient elements in cognitive models represent family forest owners’ perceptions and judgement strategies about forest biodiversity on their ownerships? Do family forest owners have the capability, opportunity and motivation to change towards biodiversity-enhancing forest management behaviors? Can interventions providing financial compensation encourage family forest owners’ change toward adopting biodiversity-enhancing forest management behaviors? To help answer these questions, we seek to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to join researchers in applied economics, psychology, and forestry. The candidate will support the integration of behavioral science principles and natural resource management knowledge into relevant research designs; developing research questions; applying appropriate analytical methods; and writing scientific manuscripts. This is a two-year full-time post. A specific task is the development of protocols to engage in interviews with family forest owners, support data collection, and lead analyses. The workplace is the SLU campus in Umeå. Your profile An eligible candidate should hold a Ph.D. obtained within the last three years in a relevant field (e.g. applied economics, cognitive sciences, psychology), or a strong interdisciplinary program. In exceptional circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. Exceptional circumstances include leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, positions of trust within trade unions, service in the armed forces, or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical service or service/assignments relevant to the subject area. Applicants are expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, and a clear motivation to pursue an academic career. The ability to work independently, show initiative, and collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary and international research environments is essential. Additional merits include demonstrated ability to integrate behavioral concepts into decision-making research, experience in writing scientific manuscripts, and advanced, documented proficiency in R, Stata, or similar analytical software used for modeling. Further advantages include working knowledge of Swedish and experience in conducting surveys and/or interviews as data collection methods. About us The Department of Forest Bioeconomy and Technology at SLU brings together broad expertise in engineering, natural sciences and social sciences. By integrating interdisciplinary perspectives, we conduct research spanning the entire forest value chain, and explore how raw materials, materials, processes, and systems can be developed to contribute to the sustainable development of forest resources and a circular bioeconomy. The Department is located on campuses in both Umeå and Uppsala. What you will do Perform independent end-to-end validation of fraud detection ML models, including conceptual soundness, data integrity, feature engineering, model development, deployment design, and monitoring frameworks. Develop challenger models. Review and challenge first-line fraud model methodologies, assumptions, and implementation choices (e.g., scikit-learn, LightGBM, graph models, anonaly detection techniques, GenAI components). Build and deploy agentic AI tools to support model validation workflows — automating review of model documentation and code, surfacing risks and inconsistencies. Assess model performance using appropriate fraud metrics (e.g., precision/recall, ROC-AUC, PR-AUC, cost-sensitive metrics, fraud rate capture, business impact trade-offs). Evaluate model stability, drift detection, retraining strategies, and production monitoring practices. Independently replicate model results where necessary and conduct challenger analyses to assess model robustness and limitations. Review large-scale transaction datasets and feature pipelines (e.g., >100M transactions, hundreds of features) to assess data representativeness, leakage risks, and bias. Evaluate model governance documentation, explainability approaches, and transparency — including regulatory compliance related to model risk, fairness, and data privacy. Validate new technologies applied in fraud detection, such as Graph Networks, Behavioral Biometrics, Anomaly Detection, and GenAI-based systems. Assess controls around CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes (e.g., Docker, Jenkins), and cloud environments (e.g., AWS SageMaker, S3, Athena, Lambda). Develop and maintain validation frameworks, testing standards, and model performance monitoring tools (e.g., SQL, PySpark, Python-based validation libraries). Collaborate closely with first-line fraud data scientists, ML engineers, product, and business stakeholders to ensure transparent communication of model risks and validation findings. Provide actionable recommendations and formally document validation outcomes in line with internal model governance standards and external regulatory expectations. Stay up to date with evolving fraud typologies, emerging ML/AI techniques, and regulatory developments in model risk management. Who you are Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering. 3+ years of hands-on experience in fraud-related modeling (e.g., transaction fraud, account takeover, identity fraud, payments fraud etc). Strong expertise in machine learning methods used in fraud detection, including tree-based models (e.g., LightGBM), anomaly detection, graph/network models, and advanced ML techniques. Deep understanding of the end-to-end ML lifecycle — from conceptual design and feature engineering to production deployment and monitoring — with the ability to critically challenge each stage. Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; experience with PySpark/Spark and large-scale data processing. Experience building agentic AI workflows. Familiarity with cloud-based ML platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Lambda, S3, Athena) and production deployment workflows. Strong knowledge of model validation principles, model risk governance frameworks, and regulatory expectations. Experience assessing model bias, fairness, explainability, and privacy risks. Excellent analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex models and clearly articulate risks and limitations. Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical findings into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences. Ability to work independently while constructively challenging first-line teams in a collaborative manner. Awesome to have Experience in BNPL, credit cards, payments, or other transaction-heavy financial products. Experience validating models in highly regulated environments. Experience mentoring junior validators or leading validation reviews. Exposure to inference of rejected transactions and understanding of fraud/credit overlap. Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and emerging AI regulatory requirements.

Department of Ecology The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) is one of Northern Europe largest academic hubs for ecological research and offers a dynamic and excellent research environment with modern infrastructure. The Department of Ecology has about 150 employees, of whom around 40 work at the Grimsö Research Station in Bergslagen. Together, the SLU Ecology Centre and Grimsö Research Station conduct research on sustainable agriculture and forestry, plant protection, nature conservation, and wildlife management, and provide scientific knowledge to inform Sweden and Europe’s environmental policies. About the position Project Can we foresee the outcomes of public policies, political choices and other decisions? We are finding out by developing serious games and running them using AI. We are building large-scale simulations of societal processes (environmental negotiations, nature conservation policies, and hybrid-threat scenarios) in which every actor is an autonomous AI agent powered by Large Language Models (LLMs). These agents simulate real-world stakeholders, from government ministers to interest groups, and interact through natural language in complex strategic settings. We then run thousands of iterations to map the distribution of outcomes. This effort is part of a new research program Articulating Complexity ( https://www.slu.se/articulating-complexity/). We are looking for an ambitious post-doc to join this effort. Tasks and duties You are the person who makes the simulations meaningful. The technical infrastructure produces outputs in the form of thousands of LLM-generated texts from prompts. Your job is to ensure that these outputs are grounded in real human behavior, real political dynamics, and real institutional logic. Concretely this means: Scenario architecture. Each simulation is defined by a scenario with an initial world state, a cast of agents, communication channels, institutional constraints, document corpora. You will design scenarios focusing on negotiations of nature conservation policies and socio-ecological hybrid warfare. Agent persona construction. For each agent you will define the identity prompt, ideology vector, personality traits, decision mode weights, and the affect parameters that govern when agents escalate beyond their default moderation. This means extracting positions, rhetorical styles, strategic preferences, and psychological profiles from real-world sources. Analysis and validation of simulation outputs. After Monte Carlo runs, you will analyze the distribution of outcomes (e.g. which policies emerge) and will also design behavioural signature validation (e.g. verifying that simulated agents exhibit the expected action distributions when compared against empirical baselines). Publication and dissemination. You will co-author scientific publications from the project. The research will produce papers at the intersection of computational social science, ecology, security studies, and AI, a space with very few competitors and high visibility. You will work closely with the PI (Guillaume Chapron https://www.slu.se/en/profilepages/c/guillaume-chapron/%20) and a research engineer in AI (recruited concurrently). The three of you will form the core team. Your profile Required A PhD in computational social science (or political science, psychology, behavioural economics, evolutionary anthropology or a related field) with strong quantitative skills. The PhD must be completed by the start date. Ability to reflect about strategic behaviour, political dynamics, or social processes in a structured, analytical way, whether through formal models, experiments or quantitative analysis. Willingness to work with AI and LLMs. You should be comfortable working critically with AI-generated outputs, interpreting how LLMs respond to instructions, and contributing to the design, testing, and refinement of prompts. Strong writing skills: clarity, precision, and the ability to communicate across disciplinary boundaries. Desirable Experience with agent-based modelling, game theory, simulation, or experimental methods in the social sciences. Experience with LLMs and their capabilities for simulating human behaviour such as the emerging literature on "silicon samples" and next-generation social simulations. Understanding of institutional design, legislative procedures, or multi-level governance. The simulation enforces procedural constraints, and designing these correctly requires knowing how real institutions actually work. Reading proficiency in Swedish, not required but an advantage. Assessment criteria Applications will be assessed on the following: Intellectual depth and originality. We are looking for someone who has demonstrated the ability to produce genuinely novel ideas, not incremental extensions of existing work. Your PhD thesis, publications, or research statement should show that you think independently and are drawn to hard, underexplored scientific problems. Interdisciplinary range. The ideal candidate is not easily captured by a single disciplinary label. If your work connects political behaviour, psychology, strategic interaction, and computational methods, even in an unconventional way, you are more interesting to us than a narrow specialist with a longer publication list. Fit with the project’s ambition. This is a project that aims to pioneer a new field and we want someone who finds that proposition thrilling rather than risky. Your application should make clear why this project, not just why a postdoc. Because the research area is new, you also need to be able to work in relative isolation. Cross-discipline disposition. You will work daily with questions from very different disciplines: computer science, AI, ecology, political science, geopolitics. The ability to communicate across disciplinary silos is essential. Interpersonal skills will form an important part of the assessment. Location: The position is based either at Grimsö or at Uppsala, with a possibility to be partly based at another Swedish academic institution with a core expertise in computational social science. Form of employment: Fixed-term employment 24 months, with possibility of extension. Scope: 100%. Start date: As agreed, as soon as possible after recruitment. Application: Please submit your application before deadline 14 July 2026. You can submit your application by clicking the button below. Application requirements are available on the SLU website.

We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst for our client in Stockholm, to strengthen the measurement and analysis layer around their recommendation systems, working alongside engineering & product. Employment type : Fixed term Contract Duration : 6 Months Location : Stockholm Job Type: Onsite (Potential Hybrid option) Scope of the engagement ● Own the measurement of recommendation experiments - design A/B tests, define success metrics, and deliver readouts that explain not just whether something worked but why. ● Investigate model and system behavior: ranking quality, retrieval coverage, exposure and feedback effects, and the gaps between offline metrics and online outcomes. ● Build the dashboards, data models, and self-serve tooling the team relies on to monitor recommendation health, and leave them in a state the team can maintain after the engagement. ● Partner with engineers and PMs to scope analytical questions sharply - clarifying the objective and sizing the opportunity before they turn into long projects. ● Surface insight proactively: the segment behaving oddly, the metric drifting, the counterfactual worth running. We care about the deliverables and the handover. Work should be reproducible and documented well enough that it outlives the contract. What you bring ● 5+ years in an analytics or data science role, with a track record of operating independently and delivering with minimal ramp-up. ● Direct experience with recommendation, search, ranking, ads, or another large-scale ML-driven product. ● Strong SQL and comfort with large datasets (we work in BigQuery); fluency in Python for analysis beyond SQL. ● A real grasp of experimentation - A/B testing, statistical significance, and the common traps (peeking, interference, novelty effects). ● The instinct to clarify the objective before reaching for a solution, and the discipline to separate what the data shows from what you'd like it to show. ● Clear communication: you can take a messy analysis and land a single, defensible takeaway for any audience, from an engineer to a director. ● A very good understanding and application of advanced statistics Nice to have ● Familiarity with recommender systems internals - retrieval, ranking, candidate generation, offline vs. online evaluation. ● Exposure to bandits, off-policy evaluation, or causal inference. ● Experience building data models and dashboards others depend on (dbt, Looker, or similar) Please let us know if you are interested and if yes, then apply to careers@hybrus.se with your CV, including details about Salary, Notice period and Visa Status.
