Data-driven understanding & predictive modelling of sediment accumulation in urban drainage infrastructures Do you want to develop your research and teaching in an environment where collaboration with industry and society is a natural part of the work? With us, you will collaborate with dedicated colleagues, have access to modern research infrastructure, and enjoy strong opportunities to attract external funding. You will have the space to make a real difference for your students, your research, and society at large. The Urban Water Engineering research group seeks a driven and committed postdoc with a focus on data-driven monitoring and predictive modelling of sediment accumulation in urban drainage infrastructures to support evidence-based maintenance that contributes to improved water quality and enhanced urban resilience to flooding. Take the opportunity to join one of the leading stormwater research groups in the world with an international, creative and dynamic environment and close cooperation with the industry and universities worldwide. The group consists of about 50 members including senior researchers, Swedish and international adjunct professors and about 20 doctoral students. The group has an extensive national and international collaboration network. The group's overall goal is to contribute to the development of sustainable urban water systems. Subject description Urban Water Engineering encompasses the entire urban water system (storm drains, drinking water supply and wastewater) with respect to collection, transport and treatment, as well as organisation and planning. The research aims to encourage a strong economy, clean environment and the wise use of resources, while preserving the public’s health and safety. Project description Stormwater transports a wide range of pollutants from urban environments to receiving waters, posing major challenges for the protection of surface waters and coastal ecosystems. Urban drainage infrastructures, such as gully pots and stormwater ponds, play a critical role by retaining sediments and associated contaminants. However, their performance depends on effective operation and maintenance (O&M), which in practice is often reactive or based on fixed schedules, despite large spatial and temporal variability in sediment accumulation. This PhD project is part of a larger interdisciplinary research initiative aiming to enable a transition towards more data-driven and environmentally responsible maintenance of urban drainage infrastructures. The research work will focus on developing a data-driven understanding of sediment accumulation processes in urban drainage infrastructures. This includes long-term monitoring using high-resolution sensors to capture sediment dynamics across rainfall events and seasons. Based on these data, predictive models will be developed to estimate sediment accumulation and infra-structure’s remaining functionality. The results will support more effective maintenance strategies by identifying when and where maintenances are needed to maximise environmental performance and operational efficiency. Within this project, the postdoc will be involved in collaboration with stakeholders in the water and wastewater industry and will communicate results both with the industry and international researchers through well-established competence network. Duties As a Postdoctoral researcher you independently plan and carry out your research work. Further tasks include the writing of scientific papers and the participation in Swedish and international conferences. You may also have the opportunity to teach in undergraduate courses, and administrative tasks may be included (up to 20% of fulltime). You will have two supervisors who will support you. The research work for this project will specifically include field sampling work. Qualifications In order to be eligible for employment as postdoc you must have a PhD or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD in in the field of water and environment, natural resources engineering, civil engineering or environmental chemistry. Do you want to use advanced simulation methods to understand and improve the performance of fuel cells? Join Chalmers and contribute to atomistic modelling of catalytic reactions to enhance the stability of proton-exchange membrane fuel cells. About us Chemical Physics develops sustainable energy systems by using heterogeneous (electro) catalysis for alternative fuel production, emission control, energy storage, and fuel cells. The research is interdisciplinary with strong connections between fundamental and applied science. Chemical Physics is a dynamic and international environment that strives for scientific excellence through teamwork and combined theoretical and experimental efforts. The theoretical activities at Chemical Physics focus on electronic structure calculations within the density functional theory together with mean-field modeling and Monte-Carlo simulations for reaction kinetics. By linking quantum mechanical calculations with kinetic modeling, it is possible to bridge both length and time scales. About the research project Proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) convert the chemical energy in hydrogen to electrical energy. The main parts of a PEMFC are the anode, cathode and electrolyte. The reactions at the anode and cathode electrodes are catalyzed by metal nanoparticles on carbon. A current issue for large scale implementation of the PEMFC technology is long-term stability. The project will use atomistic first principles methods to understand the governing mechanism for fuel cell degradation. Analytics Engineer, Stockholm Bravida is one of the Nordic region's leading installation and service companies covering electrical, HVAC, plumbing, sprinkler, security & fire, and automation across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland with over 12,000 employees and around 300 local branches. Behind that scale sits serious operational complexity: projects, procurement, and finance functions that run on data. We're hiring an experienced Analytics Engineer to own the data models that ties it all together. The Role Data modelling is the core of this job. You'll design and own the semantic layer that makes Bravida's operational and financial data trustworthy, consistent, and accessible for reports today and generative BI tomorrow. AI isn't a side interest here; it's central to how we expect this role to operate and where we're taking our analytics capability. Architect and own data models in dbt on Snowflake as the primary deliverable Define and enforce modelling standards, documentation, and data contracts across domains Build and manage pipelines in Dagster Work with AI tooling actively to accelerate your own output and enable smarter self-service for the business Drive our move toward generative analytics, shaping how business users query and interpret data through natural language Work directly with operations, procurement, and finance to model their domains properly Lead analytics data quality and reliability improvements across the stack The Team The Data & Analytics team sits inside Operational Excellence, a fast-moving function with a mandate to improve how Bravida runs at every level. That means getting out into the business, building relationships with branch managers and project leads across the Nordics, and making data something people actually pull toward rather than have pushed at them. We move quickly, we're visible, and we don't accept "this is how we've always done it." If you need a perfectly quiet environment to do your best work, this probably isn't the right fit. If you thrive on direct feedback, short cycles, and seeing your work land in the real world fast, it is. What You Bring 3+ years as an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or Data Analyst Deep dbt experience; you've built and maintained production-grade models others depend on Strong Snowflake or comparable modern platform experience Solid grasp of dimensional modelling, data contracts, and semantic layer design Active user of AI tools in your workflow and a view on how they change the job Genuine interest in generative BI and what it means for how businesses consume data beyond today Strong stakeholder management; you can hold a room, push back constructively, and get buy-in from people who weren't looking for it You spot problems before they're reported and propose solutions before they're requested You make good calls with incomplete information and don't wait to be told what to build next English required; Nordic languages a bonus What We Offer Ownership of a decision engine that matters at real scale A modern stack (Snowflake, dbt, Dagster) with active investment in AI and generative BI Direct access to senior stakeholders across operations, procurement, and finance A fast team with a real mandate, not a support function waiting for tasks Autonomy on your own career and continuous development The construction and installation industry is going through fundamental change in how projects are run, how decisions get made, and how value gets measured. The civic projects Bravida works on: the hospitals, schools, infrastructure, and buildings that society depends on, they deserve to be built and then operated on better data. We take that responsibility seriously. That's what this role is part of. Process: Intro call with hiring manager, then a practical technical case study followed by meeting the team and discussing the solution. Final step is meeting some of the Operations team and key stakeholders. You must be eligible to work in Sweden and the EU.

OFFER Net Insight is a pioneering technology company within media networks, resource optimization and time synchronization. Their Zyntai solution is used to distribute highly accurate time in critical 5G and network infrastructure — with nanosecond-level precision and without relying on GNSS. We are now looking for a senior engineer with deep knowledge of automatic control, estimation, signal processing and mathematical modelling — combined with strong software engineering skills in modern C++ and Python. This is not a general C++ role. It is a role for someone who wants to work close to the core algorithms, understand the underlying control problem, and turn advanced theory into robust production software. You will join a highly technical team working with a modern product, senior colleagues and complex real-world engineering challenges. Some of the benefits of working at Net Insight: A world leader in media networks, resource optimization and synchronization technology Work with advanced control algorithms in a real-world, large-scale product A highly technical environment with modern tools and senior colleagues Open and flat organization with strong teamwork and knowledge sharing Family-friendly company with flexible working hours Unusually low turnover and high employee satisfaction THE PRODUCT AREA Zyntai provides critical infrastructure, such as 5G base stations, with extremely accurate time synchronization. A Zyntai network consists of hundreds or thousands of TimeNodes that continuously exchange time information and measurements. The system uses this data to estimate network and oscillator behavior and to control the local clock in each node. This requires advanced algorithms within control theory, estimation, filtering, signal processing and mathematical optimization. The core challenge is to distribute time over complex networks with extremely high accuracy — without depending on GNSS. For more info about the product, visit: https://netinsight.net/5g-sync THE ROLE AND TEAMS You will work in the team responsible for the core synchronization functionality in Zyntai. The team develops the algorithms and software used to process measurement data, estimate system behavior and control the oscillator in each TimeNode. You will work with methods such as Kalman filtering, Model Predictive Control, PI/PID controllers, state estimation, signal processing and mathematical optimization. Most implementation is done in modern C++ in the TimeNodes. Python is used for modelling, analysis, tooling, testing and development in Zyntai Director, Net Insight’s Kubernetes-based orchestration system for managing TimeNodes. You need to be comfortable moving between theory and implementation: from mathematical reasoning and control system design to production-quality software in a distributed system. YOUR PROFILE We are looking for a senior engineer who combines strong knowledge within control systems with the ability to build high-quality software. You probably enjoy understanding the underlying system — not just the codebase. You like mathematical and algorithmic challenges, and you are comfortable discussing control loops, estimation, stability, filtering, optimization and real-world system behavior. You do not need to have worked with time synchronization before, but you need strong experience from automatic control, applied mathematics, signal processing, robotics, cybernetics, telecom, industrial systems or similar areas. You need to have: Deep knowledge of automatic control, control theory or cybernetics Practical experience from designing, analysing, tuning or implementing control algorithms Strong mathematical foundation within estimation, filtering, optimization, statistics, signal processing or dynamic systems Experience from methods such as Kalman filtering, MPC, PI/PID, observers, state estimation or system identification Strong software engineering skills in modern C++, preferably C++20/23 Good Python skills Experience from Linux-based development Ability to turn complex algorithms into robust, maintainable production code It is an advantage if you have experience from: Time synchronization, PTP, NTP, SyncE or GNSS-independent systems Distributed or networked systems TCP/IP and network communication Kubernetes or cloud-native systems Real-time or near-real-time systems Graph theory, statistics or mathematical optimization Telecom, 5G, industrial systems or robotics This role is a great fit if you want to work where mathematics, control systems and software engineering meet.
