SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER (PHP / CRAFT CMS) Location: Brazil (Remote) Department: Engineering Employment Type: Contract (B2B) Contract Length: 3 months (with potential for extension) ABOUT YLD Our goal is to help our clients keep moving forward. We work with them to build the skills and capabilities they need to stay ahead of the competition, and we know our success only happens when they succeed. We're a team of curious, talented people, and we're committed to making YLD a place where great people want to work, grow, and stay. We're a remote-first consultancy specialising in software engineering, product design, and data. Our teams are based across London, Lisbon, and Porto, and we create digital solutions that continue to deliver value long after our work is done. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Senior Software Engineer at YLD, you'll join a client team building and evolving digital products for a high-traffic, experience-led organisation. We're looking for someone curious, driven, and enthusiastic — skilled at problem-solving and experienced in delivering clean, maintainable PHP on modern CMS platforms. You'll work closely with the client's in-house engineering team on a mix of ongoing Craft CMS feature work and a larger migration from a legacy CMS, with UI/UX rework in scope. The team is collaborative and values direct partnerships over black-box agency arrangements — which is exactly the kind of engagement YLD runs. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL LOOK LIKE THIS * Building and maintaining features on a production Craft CMS platform, with consistent commits and a short feedback loop; * Contributing to the migration of a legacy CMS onto Craft, including UI/UX rework, targeting mid-2026 launch; * Working closely with client engineers and a product designer, collaborating on engineering initiatives and keeping each other sharp; * Mentoring teammates and sharing knowledge across the team to accelerate growth; * Participating in regular show and tells, promoting your work to the wider team; * Maintaining production quality and monitoring in line with SLAs; * Using good judgement about where emerging tools (including AI) genuinely improve the work. PREFERRED SKILLS * Strong PHP development skills, with production experience on Craft CMS; * Solid understanding of the Craft CMS templating system, plugin ecosystem, and content modelling; * Experience migrating content from legacy CMS platforms: familiarity with Epic Server or similar is a plus; * Frontend competence: working with designers to implement UI/UX rework, including responsive design and accessibility; * Database design and query optimisation (relational databases; SQL Server experience useful); * API development (REST), with an understanding of how CMS platforms expose and consume data; * CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git) in a team environment; * Comfortable with cloud-hosted environments and standard deployment tooling; * Monitoring and performance awareness: you keep an eye on things in production; * You stay calm when debugging live issues and communicate clearly about what's happening. YOU SHOULD APPLY IF YOU ARE * Self-motivated, proactive, and always looking for ways to improve; * A clear communicator, you can explain technical decisions in plain language to non-technical stakeholders; * Detail-oriented without losing sight of delivery; * Comfortable working across a small, collaborative team that includes both YLD and client engineers; * Experienced working in agile, iterative environments with real production stakes; * A genuine believer in diversity and fairness. OUR TYPICAL RECRUITMENT PROCESS * 1st interview with someone from the Talent team (30–45 mins) * Technical interview with our Senior Developers (1h30) * Call with Client Partner (30 mins) WE LIVE AND BREATHE OUR VALUES, AND KNOW YOU WILL TOO * Growing every day * Including everyone * Relationships built on honesty and ethics * Inspiring solutions * Winning together We're an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity in all its forms. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy or maternity, age, marital status, or disability. We offer a remote-first working environment, with flexible working and work–life balance as standard.
We are TRADER, a Canadian leader in digital automotive solutions. Our flagship brands — AutoTrader.ca, AutoSync, Dealertrack Canada and CMS — help Canadians buy, sell, and finance vehicles with confidence. As part of AutoScout24 group, Europe’s largest online car marketplace, we’re shaping the future of automotive retail in Canada and beyond. Learn more at tradercorporation.com. This role will be within our Collateral Management (CMS) team, a national tech solution that boosts lien and registration services, recovery services, and insolvency management solutions for Canadian Lenders. --- Auto Repossession & Remarketing We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who takes end-to-end ownership, thrives in ambiguity, and wants to build systems that matter. This role is central to rethinking and rebuilding our auto repossession and remarketing platform, a system that directly influences how vehicles are recovered, processed, and remarketed across Canada’s automotive ecosystem. This is an AI-first engineering role—not in name, but in practice. You’ll continuously evaluate where AI (including LLMs and agentic tools) can meaningfully improve engineering velocity, system quality, and operational efficiency, while applying strong judgment about where it should not be used. You’ll help shape architecture, influence technical direction, and own what you build—from design to production. The impact is real, the scale is national, and the responsibility is genuine. What You’ll Do: Build & Evolve Critical Systems * Rethink and reshape core workflows based on a deep understanding of auto repossession and remarketing processes. * Design and implement scalable, resilient systems using modern architectural principles: clear service boundaries, modularity, and observability. * Incorporate LLMs and AI-driven components to improve data validation, document processing, and operational decision-making. * Use AI-assisted and agentic coding tools to accelerate development—while maintaining high standards for correctness, security, and maintainability. Own Architecture & Technical Decisions * Drive architectural discussions and decisions, balancing pragmatism with technical excellence. * Set and enforce high quality bars for new services and modules, with a focus on testability, performance, and reliability. * Identify and reduce technical debt in ways that measurably improve developer velocity and system robustness. Build With an Ownership Mindset * Work across the full software lifecycle: design, build, deploy, operate, and iterate. * Embrace a “you build it, you run it” DevOps mindset alongside your team. * Make thoughtful trade-offs between effort, quality, and user value—always with accountability for outcomes. Collaborate & Lead * Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers in an agile, cross-functional team. * Contribute ideas, challenge assumptions, and continuously improve how we build software. * Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical leadership. What We’re Looking For: * A senior engineer who owns results, not just implementations. * Someone who enjoys complex problem-solving and isn’t afraid of legacy systems—or changing them. * Strong engineering fundamentals: clean code, testing discipline, system design, and performance awareness. * Strong experience with TypeScript and modern React / Next.js * Strong experience building production systems with .NET (Core / modern .NET preferred). * Comfort operating in production environments and learning from real-world feedback. * A builder’s mindset: If you can think it, you can build it. If you build it, you own it. * Experience leveraging AI, Generative AI (GenAI) to enhance engineering productivity, automate repetitive tasks, and optimize workflows. You should demonstrate the ability to integrate AI-driven solutions into your daily work — such as code generation, debugging, reviews, documentation, and decision support—to improve efficiency for yourself and your teams. A proactive approach to exploring and implementing AI tools that drive innovation and streamline development processes is highly valued. What’s In It For You?
