As a Senior Software Engineer at Freeform, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing critical software systems for our autonomous 3D printing factories. You'll have an opportunity to touch many different aspects of our software ecosystem from hardware control, to high-rate telemetry and big data storage systems, to high-performance compute and machine learning pipelines. We don’t develop software in a vacuum, we develop it alongside a multi-disciplinary team with specific, real-world purposes, so collaboration and systems-level thinking are essential to success. Responsibilities: * Architect and develop software for an advanced, production-scale metal 3D printing system * Work with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and physicists to integrate control algorithms into production software * Improve and scale out petabyte-scale, high-rate telemetry, storage, and retrieval systems * Use computer science and engineering fundamentals to solve notoriously challenging algorithmic and optimization problems * Develop high-performance compute solutions using GPU parallel processing * Move fast, innovate, don’t over-engineer things, be a good teammate, be flexible and open to new ideas, and push the bounds of what’s possible   Basic Qualifications: * 5+ years of professional experience in software development * Proficiency in a systems level programming language such as C/C++ or Rust * Experience with high-performance systems software such as hardware control systems, embedded software, high-volume telemetry systems, graphics rendering, or similar  Nice to Have: * Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science or computer engineering * 8+ years of professional software development experience * Experience building out backend infrastructure, high-performance storage solutions, streaming processing systems, scientific analysis pipelines and workflows * Experience writing software for industrial automation systems, robotics, or related hardware * Experience with operations systems, computer architecture, or similar computer systems internals * Experience with computer graphics or similar geometry-intensive problems   * Experience operating as a technical lead, driving architectural decisions and mentoring junior engineers  Location: * Based in Hawthorne, our vertically integrated facility brings technology development, R&D, and production together under one roof. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Freeform, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing critical embedded software systems that enable our advanced metal 3D printing factories to operate fully autonomously at high speeds with precision. This entails developing elegant software solutions for hardware control, high speed data acquisition, and custom high performance compute systems. Your software will effectively act as the nervous system of our fully automated metal printing factories. As a crucial member of the engineering team you will be responsible for driving the pace of innovation, maximizing development speed, and maintaining a standard of excellence within the entire engineering team. 3D printing experience is not required to be successful here - rather we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving hard problems and creating amazing technology! Responsibilities: * Architect state-of-the-art software for an advanced production-scale metal 3D printing system * Design and develop the machine instruction interface to the metal 3D printing system hardware * Develop software to enable the computer vision system, monitor sensor data, perform calibrations, log quality data, and keep track of the health of the printing system over its lifetime * Work with process and control engineers to integrate control algorithms into production software * Work with FPGA developers to develop high-speed data acquisition software * Create software for collection and analysis of process data * Develop software required to implement production automation solutions * Develop, unit test, and deploy functional, scalable, robust, and maintainable software * Generate and maintain documentation of designed software and integrated systems Basic Qualifications: * 5+ years of experience in software development using C/C++ and/or Rust * Experience in real-time embedded system design with Linux OS * Experience in object-oriented programming and design Nice to Have: * Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, or related field * Experience working in a high performance compute environment (FPGAs or GPUs) * Experience with PCIe driver development and troubleshooting * Experience with high speed data acquisition and real time closed-loop-control systems * Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems * Experience writing software for industrial automation systems, robotics, or related hardware * Creative thinker able to apply first-principles reasoning to solve complex problems * Excellent verbal and written communication skills Location: * Based in Hawthorne, our vertically integrated facility brings technology development, R&D, and production together under one roof. Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack Enterprise)

SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER (FULL STACK ENTERPRISE)  Freeform builds AI-native manufacturing systems that unify software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts at the speed of human ideation. By treating manufacturing as a single integrated system, we unlock a new era of innovation where complex hardware is designed, built, and scaled without limits.  In this role, you will design and build the core platform that runs Freeform’s factories and connects every part of the business from quoting to production to delivery. The system must handle large amounts of data, support many different factory processes, and provide end-to-end traceability from powder-in to finished parts-out. You’ll partner with product management to architect and implement solutions, make foundational technical decisions, and work closely with engineers across disciplines to solve real, complex problems with your code.  3D printing experience is not required to be successful here - rather we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving hard problems and creating amazing technology!  Responsibilities:  * Architect and implement a state-of-the-art enterprise software platform to seamlessly integrate Freeform’s business processes from sales to manufacturing * Develop applications to track the end-to-end lifecycle of millions of parts across thousands of customers around the world * Act as engineer, product owner, and team lead — scoping features, driving pace of schedule, assigning tasks, and delivering results * Work cross-functionally with other engineering and operations disciplines to gather requirements and solve problems with your code * Design highly scalable and resilient systems to meet Freeform’s high bar for quality, reliability, and security * Maintain accessibility and integrity of the backend data model to enable easy access for business intelligence users   * Design and develop intuitive user interfaces with a focus on functionality over aesthetics to increase system usability   Basic Qualifications:  * Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, mathematics, or related field * 5+ years of professional experience in software development with Python, Go, Java, or similar * Experience with backend web frameworks such as Flask or Django * Experience with frontend web frameworks such as React or Next.js * Experience writing applications which interact with SQL databases and non-relational databases  Nice to Have:  * 10+ years of experience in software development * Experience as a team lead, architect, product owner, or similar technical leadership scope * Prior experience architecting and implementing a custom ERP, MRP, MES, CRM, e-commerce, logistics, warehouse management, fleet management, or similar complex software system   * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to gather and define requirements from technical audiences   * Comfortable “building the plane as we fly it”  Location:  * Based in Hawthorne, our vertically integrated facility brings technology development, R&D, and production together under one roof.
