THE WOW As a Platform DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and operating critical platform services that power our applications and customer experiences. This includes managing and optimizing our CDN, Cloud Edge functions, DNS, WAF, and IIS-based applications, while ensuring high availability, scalability, and security across our environments. You will bring deep technical expertise in AWS cloud services, infrastructure as code, and automation tooling, with a focus on enabling reliable, performant, and secure delivery of applications at the edge. Collaboration with developers, security engineers, and infrastructure teams will be essential to align platform capabilities with organizational goals. Your contributions will directly support our vision to transition workloads from on-premise infrastructure to modern, cloud-native and edge-optimized platforms. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AT BETSSON GROUP Our Product Development organisation is truly Global with cross functional teams spanning 6 Tech Hubs – Malta, Budapest, Stockholm, Tallinn, Malaga and Athens. With nearly 600 strong professionals, the Product Development organisation is spear-headed by our CTO-CPO with all our talented Area Teams working together. A TASTER OF WHAT YOU WILL BE INVOLVED WITH * Platform Ownership – Manage and optimize CDN, DNS, WAF, edge functions (NodeJS), and IIS applications, ensuring high reliability, security, and performance. * Cloud & Infrastructure as Code – Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, with a focus on scalability, repeatability, and GitOps best practices. * Automation & Configuration Management – Build automation workflows using Ansible, and Git to improve deployment velocity and reduce manual effort. * Cloud Native Transformation – Support the organization’s shift from on-premise to AWS cloud-native workloads, introducing edge-first strategies where appropriate. * Kubernetes Integration – Collaborate with container platform teams to integrate workloads with Kubernetes where needed, ensuring seamless connectivity with edge services. * Collaboration & Guidance – Work closely with developers, architects, and security engineers to integrate WAF, CDN, and DNS changes into CI/CD pipelines and delivery processes. * Monitoring & Reliability – Define and track metrics, logs, and traces across platform services to proactively detect issues, optimize performance, and improve resilience. * Continuous Improvement – Stay current with industry trends in cloud, CDN, and edge technologies; recommend and implement best practices to evolve the platform. YOU'RE GOOD AT * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, technical degree beneficial. * AWS Cloud practitioner or higher would be beneficial. * Proven hands-on experience with: * AWS services (CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, Route 53, WAF, EC2, S3, IAM, etc.) * Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) * Git/GitOps workflows * Kubernetes (good understanding, with ability to integrate workloads) * Configuration management (Ansible) * IIS application management * Scripting (JavaScript/NodeJS preferred) * Strong understanding of platform reliability, networking fundamentals (DNS, CDN routing, edge services), and application delivery. * Experience in implementing secure, scalable, and automated infrastructure solutions. * Knowledge of observability pillars (logs, metrics, tracing) and proactive monitoring practices. * Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting to new technologies and evolving requirements. * Familiarity with DevOps principles and ITIL best practices is a plus. * Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex technical issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, vendors, and partners. ABOUT THE ROLE  As a Senior Network Engineer within the Connectivity area at Betsson Group, you will work hands-on with production network infrastructure that underpins our customer-facing platforms.  You will operate and improve a hybrid environment spanning on‑prem and AWS, working with technologies such as AWS networking services, enterprise routing and switching, VPNs, and firewalls. While we use specific vendors today, we place more value on strong networking fundamentals and production experience than experience with any single brand.  Automation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform and Ansible) are core to how we build and evolve our network platforms, and you will actively contribute to this journey.    WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON  * Design, implement, and operate production network infrastructure  * Work hands-on with:   * Layer 3 switching and routing  * Network firewalls and VPN technologies  * Hybrid connectivity between on‑prem and AWS  * Build and operate AWS networking, including:   * VPCs, routing, Transit Gateways / Cloud WAN concepts  * Route 53 (DNS and traffic management)  * Create and maintain network infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible  * Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents in production  * Participate in incident, problem, and change management  * Collaborate closely with:   * Connectivity team members  * Architects and Platform teams  * Security and application teams  * Maintain documentation and contribute to shared ways of working  * Take part in a 24/7 on‑call rotation supporting production environments    REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE  * Experience working as a Network Engineer in a production environment  * Strong hands-on experience with enterprise networking, such as:   * Routing & switching (e.g. Arista, Cisco, or equivalent)  * Firewalls & VPNs (e.g. Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet, or equivalent)  * Load balancing (e.g. F5 preferred or nginx)  * Solid understanding of:   * TCP/IP, BGP, VXLAN, routing protocols  * Network security principles  * High‑availability network design  * Practical experience with AWS networking, including Route 53  * Experience using Terraform for infrastructure or networking resources  * Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills  * Comfortable operating in environments with change management and on‑call responsibilities  * Able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team    NICE TO HAVE  * Experience with AWS / Cloud WAN setups / Other cloud technologies  * Network automation or scripting experience  * Exposure to compliance‑driven environments (PCI DSS, ISO, etc.)  * Experience working in always‑on, 24/7 production systems  * Observability / monitoring experience for network platforms    WHO WE ARE Betsson Group is one of the largest companies within the Global iGaming space and can trace our heritage as far back as the 1960’s. Player Account Management (PAM) Area covers everything related to the management of the player accounts, such as: * Account creation, verification, updates, and closure * Account authentication, controls, and security * User session management * Responsible Gaming    A TASTER OF WHAT YOU WILL BE INVOLVED WITH:  * Incident & Problem Management: Investigate system incidents, drive Root Cause Analysis (RCAs), and execute long-term remedial fixes. Proactively reduce the number of incidents caused by system changes. * Observability & Metrics: Define and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and success metrics for new initiatives. Build and maintain comprehensive dashboards to achieve observability excellence. * Performance & Capacity: Identify and help resolve performance bottlenecks. Optimize infrastructure and code to maintain fast service, and conduct capacity planning to forecast future hardware or cloud resource requirements. * Availability & Change Management: Guarantee the Platform components remain highly reachable and functional for users. Oversee deployments to ensure new code does not disrupt the existing system.   WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR * Observability & Monitoring: Deep experience building dashboards and tracking SLAs/SLOs using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Coralogix, Splunk, or Loki. * Programming & Automation: Proficiency in scripting and coding to automate manual tasks (eliminate "toil") and build reliability tools. Strong skills in .NET, Python, Powershell or Bash are highly preferred. * Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Cloud: Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure using Terraform or Ansible, along with a solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure). * Containerization & Orchestration: Hands-on experience scaling and managing distributed systems using Kubernetes (K8s) and Docker. * CI/CD & Change Management: Familiarity with deployment pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Team City, Octopus) to ensure safe, automated rollouts that don't cause incidents. * Core Competencies: Strong analytical skills for Root Cause Analysis (RCA), a calm approach to incident response, and the ability to lead blameless post-mortems. * AWS Cloud infrastructure, CDNs, and other various systems running in multiple data centres and environments * Cloud Application Load Balancer, preferably with experience on AWS ALB * Cloud DNS support such as AWS Route 53, GCP Cloud DNS, or Azure DNS * Experience with Microsoft SQL databases, PostgreSQL, and Couchbase is considered an asset.      WHAT WE OFFER Much like riding a rollercoaster, sometimes life at Betsson can be lightning fast with twists and turns but always FUN!
