THE ROLE: HEAD OF LEGAL This is NexGen Cloud’s first permanent in-house legal hire — a role that exists because the business has scaled to a point where a single legal resource is no longer enough. Commercial contracts, M&A workstreams, KYC, board secretarial, data protection, and platform terms all need dedicated ownership. As the company approaches Series B and expands into new geographies, the legal complexity is only growing. You’ll take direct ownership of the day-to-day commercial and operational legal workload and, critically, build the legal infrastructure the business needs from the ground up. This is simultaneously an execution role and a build role. This is a role for someone who thrives on responsibility, autonomy, and the tangible impact of their work. You won’t be inheriting a functioning function — you’ll be setting its foundations. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Rather than a long checklist, here’s what success in this role looks like: * Own the commercial contracts pipeline end-to-end — NDAs, MSAs, order forms, SOWs — running the day-to-day without escalation while building a library of standard forms and DocuSign templates from scratch. * Build the legal infrastructure NexGen Cloud needs — platform terms, KYC policy, M&A due diligence frameworks, anti-bribery policies, and export controls classification — putting in place the foundations the business is currently missing. * Collaborate closely with the Commercial and Sales teams as the first legal port of call for deal queries, and with HR, Finance, and Compliance to embed legal rigour across business processes. * Manage board and company secretarial mechanics — resolutions, Companies House filings, statutory registers — running independently from day one. * Support M&A and transaction workstreams alongside David Andrews (Seconded Counsel / GC) — due diligence checklists, closing mechanics, conditions precedent tracking. * Systematise legal operations as the business scales — contract register, matter tracking, external counsel spend management, and a legal risk escalation process that keeps the executive team ahead of issues. * Identify and close gaps proactively — whistleblowing frameworks, trademark registration programmes, insurance oversight — without waiting to be asked. ABOUT YOU We’re more interested in how you think and work than in a perfect CV. YOUR MISSION: As Principal Product Manager (Enterprise), your core mission is to establish the product direction and strategic direction for our Enterprise product which is powered by the joint capabilities of lemon.markets and dwpbank. This is a high-impact, newly created role that sits across product strategy, product management and cross-organisational collaboration and drives opportunities from concept to launch and adoption. Reporting to the Head of Product, you will drive work autonomously with deep ownership, collaborating with the leadership team at lemon.markets and dwpbank, with our product organisation and our cross-functional domains and broader functions. This is a unique opportunity to shape our enterprise strategy, delivering a direct and measurable impact on our future growth. YOU WILL: * Shape and drive forward our Enterprise product by identifying, evaluating and prioritising customer needs through a deep understanding of the market, our organisational context, our existing capabilities and the new capabilities we need. * Take a critical view of current product opportunities, group opportunities and propose a clear roadmap and influence both lemon.markets and dwpbank to deliver it * Act as the primary product interface between lemon.markets and dwpbank for Enterprise opportunities, managing stakeholders at all levels including senior leadership. * Lead by example, demonstrating strong product craft across the product development lifecycle by providing clear product direction, clarifying scope, making key priority calls, distilling alignment and creating clarity on new product and partner launches. * Work cross-function and cross-domain across engineering, operations, compliance, risk and business development to scope solutions and ensure execution. * Support org-wide craft standards and build scalable frameworks for how Enterprise product work is structured, documented and measured. * Manage and develop your direct report, fostering their growth and ensuring high-quality delivery. * Anticipate market and regulatory shifts that affect Enterprise opportunities and proactively adapt the strategy. * Drive decision-making with data, continuously forming hypotheses, running experiments and measuring impact. * Represent the product function externally with partners, vendors and enterprise clients where appropriate. Your Mission You will ensure lemon.markets delivers a fast, reliable, and compliant customer lifecycle so our partners can launch and scale investment products with confidence. Sitting in the 1st Line of Defense (1LoD), you’ll lead Customer Ops, KYC Ops, and AFC Ops and make sure day-to-day operations run smoothly while meeting regulatory expectations. You’ll report to our Head of Operations and work closely with Banking Ops and Securities Ops, plus key stakeholders in our Customer Lifecycle domain (Product & Engineering) and our 2nd Line of Defense (Compliance/Risk). Over the first months, your focus will be to bring a fresh, data-driven perspective, quickly diagnosing the biggest drivers of volume, risk, and customer pain. You’ll build a clear prioritization roadmap and execute it. Your main mission is to turn the department into a highly automated machine by redesigning workflows and automating as much as possible (while keeping compliance guardrails intact). In this role you will: * Develop and lead a team of FTEs and working students across Customer Ops, KYC Ops, and AFC Ops, setting clear expectations, coaching, and building a high-ownership culture. * Run and improve day-to-day performance across the lifecycle by steering SLAs, backlogs, cycle times, quality, and rework, ensuring customers and partners get predictable, reliable outcomes. * Establish an operating system for the area (daily/weekly reviews, capacity planning, queue/skill management) that makes priorities, bottlenecks, and decisions transparent. * Own and evolve KYC operations (onboarding, verification, document checks, remediation, periodic reviews where relevant) with strong QA standards, sampling, and root-cause work to reduce KYC aging and risk. * Own AFC case & alert operations including evidence collection, escalation logic, and audit trails to ensure defensible decisions and strong audit readiness. * Partner with Product, Engineering, and 2LoD to translate regulatory and operational needs into scalable workflows, permissions, logging, and controls and ensure every change is operationally ready (SOPs, training, rollout/support). * Lead automation initiatives across the whole Ops function by eliminating manual work through workflow automation, decision engines, etc. driving efficiency, consistency, and faster turnaround times while reducing operational risk. * Own vendor management and communication, ensuring external partners/tools meet our requirements for performance, scalability, and auditability. You’ll be successful in this role if you: * Bring multi-year operations experience in a regulated environment (FinTech/Banking) having hands-on expertise across Customer Service Ops, KYC Ops, and AFC Ops. Brokerage experience is a strong plus. * Have proven people leadership experience (coaching, performance management, hiring and capability building). * Show a strong track record in performance management (SLA steering, QA frameworks, backlog & capacity planning). * Are excellent at cross-functional stakeholder management with Product & Engineering (requirements, change management, rollouts) and have experience working with a 2nd Line of Defense. * Are hands-on and structured.
