The Tax team is responsible for overseeing and managing all tax-related matters for Plaid. This includes ensuring income and indirect compliance with federal, state, local and international tax regulations, managing indirect tax accruals such as sales and use tax, property tax, and other non-income tax matters. This team also handles the preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns, manage the quarterly tax provision process (including FIN18 provisions), and handle estimated tax filings and payments. As a Senior Indirect Tax Associate, you will focus specifically on Plaid’s US and worldwide indirect tax matters. Responsibilities: * Manage U.S. and EU indirect tax compliance to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns and payments * Prepare monthly account reconciliations for sales & use tax and other non-income tax accounts to ensure accuracy * Assist on indirect tax audits and reviews through data collection and research support. * Provide indirect tax support, including customer invoice and contract inquiries, exemption certificate reviews, and tax determination in accordance with applicable tax regulations. * Maintain Plaid’s ASC 450 positions and reserves, including the documentation and calculations * Monitor tax changes and legislative tax updates. Perform research and analysis, and apply tax laws to support technical positions related to the Company’s business transactions and clearly communicate and document findings * Support the tax technology roadmap, including assistance with testing, ensuring our tax engine is configured properly, and developing reporting requirements * Partner with cross functional teams throughout the company to understand the tax impact of business operations and ensure tax needs are identified, considered and communicated. * Collaborate on the development of internal controls and tax automation processes to streamline tax return preparation and ensure efficient operations. Qualifications: * 4+ years of experience in U.S. indirect tax with a strong technical background and detailed understanding of the application of sales tax principles to technology businesses. * Big 4 experience. * Proven U.S. indirect tax technical expertise, including sales and use tax in a technology company environment. * Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities. * Self-starter with high ownership, intellectual curiosity, and a track record of driving results independently. * Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to diverse stakeholders. * Strong working knowledge of ASC 450 and commitment to accuracy, compliance, and attention to detail. * Experience with sales and use tax software (e.g., Avalara, Fonoa, Anrok). EQT, a purpose-driven global investment firm, is seeking an Associate Tax Compliance in Warsaw This role will be performed under the supervision of a senior team member located in Warsaw, operating in close collaboration with the Luxembourg-based Tax Compliance team. ABOUT THE TEAM The Tax Compliance team is part of the global Tax & Structuring (T&S) function, which comprises more than 30 professionals primarily based in Stockholm and Luxembourg, with a growing presence in the US, London, Singapore, and Hong Kong, as well as an upcoming team in Warsaw. The establishment of a Tax Compliance presence in Warsaw represents a key step in strengthening and scaling the global Tax Compliance team. The Warsaw team will be fully integrated into the Tax Compliance organisation and will work closely with colleagues in Luxembourg and the US notably. This role offers the opportunity to be part of building a new team from the ground up, contribute to the evolution of processes and ways of working, and gain exposure to international fund structures and cross-border tax compliance within a leading global investment firm. The Tax Compliance team is multicultural, bringing together professionals with diverse backgrounds and experience across tax compliance, accounting, advisory, M&A, and tax operations in multiple jurisdictions. ABOUT THE ROLE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS * Support fund tax reporting processes end-to-end, from data collection to final reporting, across a global investment fund platform, particularly in Luxembourg, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, the US, and other jurisdictions. * Review a wide range of tax deliverables for direct and indirect tax prepared by a variety of external service providers. * Support the regular and timely calculation and distribution of investor tax reporting. * Help to ensure proper, up-to-date local and international tax documentation and tax filings of our investment funds across all business lines including Private Capital and Real Assets. * Participate in weekly meetings with external service providers, ensuring quality, accuracy, and adherence to timelines. * Collaborate and provide support on fund tax-specific and firm-wide local and cross-border projects. * Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to correspond directly with external service providers and internal stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions. * Support and contribute to the continuous improvement of high-volume, data-intensive tax processes, leveraging systems, automation, and analytics tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of tax reporting. * Contribute to tax process improvements initiatives, including identifying automation, system enhancement, and digitalisation opportunities, partnering with tax technology teams to design and implement effective solutions. * Coordinate tax correspondence, compliance communications, and related documentation, including interactions with authorities and oversight of standard filings. * Support process optimisation initiatives, including the implementation of AI-enabled tools, while maintaining efficient document workflows and ensuring approval of tax-related invoices in line with procedures and budgets. ABOUT YOU We are looking for a highly organized individual with excellent analytical and communication skills who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE * Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience. * A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience ideally within a Big Four tax compliance or tax advisory team, or in a comparable in-house or advisory environment. * Good knowledge of the international tax environment and tax principles, with previous experience in tax compliance aspects. * Knowledge of accounting standards is considered a plus. * Demonstrates an efficient, well-organised, and independent professional attitude, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a flexible and dynamic environment. * Strong organisational and multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with process management tools. * Interest in technology-driven solutions and tax transformation, including data analytics tools (SQL, Python, PowerBI), automation, and emerging technologies (such as AI), and a willingness to actively apply them to improve tax compliance and reporting processes, is a plus. * Previous experience with project management; data management and process improvements is considered a plus. * Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
