We are now looking for an experienced and hands-on Lab Manager to take overall responsibility for our laboratories, infrastructure, equipment, and operational support functions. This is a senior role with broad responsibility across laboratory operations, safety, facilities, equipment, and support for both R&D and production activities. Success in this role requires someone who enjoys combining strategic with practical laboratory work. You will be an important part of keeping our laboratories running efficiently while actively contributing to daily operations. Within one of their test and development environments, they are now looking for a Lab & EMC Engineer to strengthen their capabilities within verification and compliance. In this role, you will work close to both hardware and testing, taking ownership of EMC-related lab activities. JOB DESCRIPTION As a Lab Technician, Applications and Fee-for-Service at Moleculent, you will play an important role in supporting customer projects and internal application development studies. Accurately document experimental procedures, reagents, conditions, and results to ensure full traceability. Support troubleshooting activities and contribute to workflow optimization together with Applications and R&D teams. Maintain laboratory readiness through equipment upkeep, reagent inventory management, and general lab organization. Contribute to the expansion and standardization of Fee-for-Service operations . QUALIFICATIONS To fit the role, you hold a BSc in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related life sciences field. Equivalent relevant work experience will also be considered. Fluent written and spoken English is required. You have experience working in a molecular biology, histology, or related laboratory environment. Experience with FFPE sample handling, immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), or similar workflows is highly valuable. You are comfortable working according to structured SOPs and understand the importance of quality documentation and reproducible laboratory processes. Technical skills: Hands-on experience with tissue preparation, staining, microscopy, and reagent preparation. Familiarity with laboratory imaging systems and basic image data handling. We have an open position for a doctoral candidate within LEGEND – a European doctoral network developing increased understanding of, and computational tools for studying the effects of defects in composite structures. About us The Doctoral student position is placed at the Division of Computational Mechanics and Materials Engineering, which belongs to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. About the research project This project focuses on redefining how defects are assessed in composite aerospace structures - helping industry move beyond overly conservative repair or discard decisions. The Doctoral student will develop an advanced global–local modelling approach that captures how individual and interacting defects influence structural performance. By combining high-fidelity simulations with experimental testing of lab-scale components, our research will generate new data, validate predictive models, and establish improved defect acceptance criteria. The outcome will be a practical, industry-ready methodology that enables safer, more cost-efficient decisions when dealing with defects in composite components. The project will involve collaborations and secondments (in total 8 months during the first three years) at University of Kore (2 months) and Leonardo S.p.A. (6 months) in Italy. Who we are looking for The following requirements are mandatory: To qualify as a Doctoral student, you must have a Master's degree (masterexamen) of 120 credits or a Master’s degree (magisterexamen) of 60 credits* in Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, Computational Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics or similar. Documented experience (education/courses or thesis project with high grades) in the finite element method and the mechanics of fibre-reinforced polymers. Interest and high skills in programming and numerical methods Strong written and verbal communication skills in English *for students with an education earned outside of Sweden, a 4-year Bachelor’s degree is accepted. We also expect that you are analytical, ambitious, independent, and a strong team player that thrives through collaboration. The following experience will strengthen your application: Documented knowledge (education/courses or thesis project) in computational homogenisation and/or computational micro/mesoscale modelling. What you will do Develop your scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research through written scientific publications and oral presentations at international conferences. Collaborate with fellow doctoral candidates within the LEGEND project, utilising synergies between projects. Actively participate in General Assembly meetings and doctoral training events within LEGEND, distributed across Europe. Take courses at an advanced level within the Graduate school of Solid and Structural Mechanics. Develop and implement a computational framework that links small-scale material defects to large-scale structural performance, enabling accurate prediction of how defects affect strength, stiffness, and fracture behaviour. Teach on Chalmers' undergraduate level corresponding to 10 percent of working hours. Contract terms The Doctoral student positions are fully funded from start. The position is a fixed-term appointment of four years, with the possibility to teach up to 10%, which extends the position up to four and a half years. Doctoral studies require physical presence throughout the entire study period. A valid residence permit must be presented by the study start date; otherwise the admission may be withdrawn. Applicants must not already be in possession of a doctoral degree. Researchers who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree will not be considered eligible. The European Spallation Source (ESS) will soon be the world’s most powerful source of neutrons, providing researchers with unique opportunities to explore the structure of materials at the atomic level. Neutron scattering at ESS will address critical questions in physics, chemistry, geology, materials science and life science. About the role: The Scientific Support Division at ESS is looking for a Biodeuteration Scientist to support the ESS neutron user program. The Deuteration group at ESS operates a support service providing deuterium-labelled samples for the scientific users of the ESS neutron instruments for carrying out a broad range of experiments primarily in materials and life science research. In this position, you will play an important role in ensuring the success of biological and biomaterial experiments at ESS by further developing methods for the biological production of a range of deuterated biomolecules, contributing deuterated materials for user proposals and requested by ESS users, and optimising purification and analysis capabilities. In the ESS Deuteration group, we also work in close collaboration with our international colleques at other deuteration laboratories. In this role, you will: Provide deuteration services for neutron experiment users, including the production, purification and characterization of a variety of biologically deuterated molecules. Further develop ESS capabilities for biodeuteration as well as related purification and analysis methods, in order to meet the evolving needs of the ESS scientific user program. Coordinate the planning, organization and operation of ESS biodeuteration support including proposal calls, feasibility reviews and proposal work scheduling. Subject description Urban Water Engineering encompasses the entire urban water system (urban drainage, drinking water supply and wastewater) with respect to collection, transport and treatment, as well as organisation and planning. The research aims to encourage a strong economy, clean environment and the wise use of resources, while preserving the public’s health and safety. Project description The project Streetwise aims to improve coordination between street works and water/wastewater pipe network renewal in Swedish municipalities. Today, these investments are often planned and financed separately or coordinated based on limited data leading to repeated excavation, higher lifecycle costs, and unnecessary disruption for citizens. Skellefteå municipality is the needs owner and participates through the departments of Water & Wastewater and the Streets, providing a real test bed. Recent research will be the starting point where an existing model will be developed further to optimise the strategic asset management and coordination based on economic, environmental and other societal criteria. You will belong to a research team with researchers from our university as well as external researchers from the research institute RISE which are experts in policy-lab methodology. The work within the project includes development of an existing Python model and collection of asset management data of municipal infrastructure. Together with other researchers in the team, you will design workshops to be carried out with municipal partners to understand the present routines of coordinating asset management of multiutility infrastructures and be able to develop tools to support their work. Duties As a PhD student, you will collect asset management data, develop a Python model and be involved in workshops. You will learn how to collect and analyse scientific data within your research area as well as communicate your results at national and international conferences and in scientific journals. Most of your working time will be devoted to your own research studies, including both research and mandatory and elective course work. In addition, you will also carry out departmental duties, such as teaching and/or assisting in other research projects. You will have two supervisors who support you in your work, as well as cooperate with other researchers in the project team. The research work for this project will specifically include modelling, including life cycle assessment studies and life cycle costs, as well as being part of policy development for the water sector. Qualifications We seek a candidate with an MSc degree or equivalent or fully completed course requirements of at least 240 ETCS of which at least 60 ETCS are at an advanced level or equivalent. The degree should be within the field of civil and/or environmental engineering or natural resources engineering, civil engineering, or equivalent. Specific knowledge of urban water system including the pipe network, Python coding and modelling and life cycle assessments, as well as economics and statistics are meritorious. Other important skills are the ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as being able to explore new research areas. English language skills are required since the results will be presented internationally in scientific journals and at conferences. Swedish/Scandinavian language skills are beneficial, as they will facilitate communication with stakeholders and participation in research and teaching activities.
