Om tjänsten Svenska kraftsystemet befinner sig i en omfattande förändring. Energiomställningen, ökad marknadsintegration, en växande andel förnybar elproduktion och utvecklingen av den europeiska elmarknaden ställer nya krav på driftverksamheten. För att möta detta krävs ökad automatisering samt moderna IT- och beslutsstöd för planering, prognostisering och styrning. Vi söker nu två produktägare. I denna roll verkar du inom ramen för antingen förvaltningsobjektet Elnätsdrift eller förvaltningsobjektet Planering av drift som produktägare / produktledare på avdelning Drift med fokus på produkter kopplat till kontrollrummet och kontrollrumsnära funktioner. Rollens syfte Rollen ansvarar för att fånga, analysera, kravställa och prioritera verksamhetens behov av IT- och beslutsstöd kopplat till förvaltningsprodukter inom Elnätsdrift, Planering av drift och kontrollrumsverksamheten. Subject description The research subject Electric Power Engineering covers studies of sustainable systems for production of electrical energy, transport of electrical energy and the interaction between the power grid, electricity production and electricity consumption. Duties Associate Professors are normally expected to be engaged in the university's education, pedagogical development activities, and research. Responsibilities also include keeping abreast of international developments within the discipline and supervising doctoral students. Associate Professors are expected to contribute to the university's development efforts, work to secure external research funding for the subject area, and be available for leadership and administrative assignments. The Opportunity As a Control System Performance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the dynamic performance of FACTS control systems throughout the entire delivery lifecycle. In this role, you will translate customer requirements and grid‑code specifications into well‑tuned, verified, and documented control behavior. You will work with advanced EMT and HIL simulations and collaborate closely with project teams, R&D, and customers to secure robust system performance. How you'll make an impact Ensure the control system’s dynamic performance from early design stages through FAT and site commissioning. Develop, tune, and verify control functions using Virtual MACH models; perform performance verification with PSCAD and RTDS/RSCAD. Conduct Control Performance Simulation Studies and support dynamic performance‑related studies during PSCAD simulations, Factory Acceptance Tests, and commissioning activities. Description Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) is a technology that allows electric vehicles (EVs) to not only draw power from the grid for charging but also feed stored energy back to the grid, supporting energy balance, grid stability, and renewable integration. V2G promises valuable grid services, but the gap between theoretical control concepts and actual hardware performance is not fully explored. The main objective of this thesis is to experimentally evaluate a V2G system under realistic operating conditions. An advanced real-time simulation hardware platform will be employed in this thesis project, serving as both the control system and the digital model of the grid and vehicle-side systems. Such a platform represents an intermediate step between offline simulation and real vehicle operation. Execution Step 1 – Experimental setup * Set up and configure the real-time simulation hardware and software platform. * Operate the system to demonstrate stable bidirectional charging in the lab. * Perform experimental validation to confirm successful commissioning and reliable system operation. Step 2 – Experimental operation * Define and implement selected existing V2G bidirectional charging strategies. * Evaluate the performance of these strategies by analyzing how the system tracks applied charge/discharge power commands (steps, ramps, and realistic profiles). * Quantify system efficiency and losses, including round-trip efficiency, standby losses, and operational stability limits. Expected outcome The thesis will deliver a validated experimental setup along with quantitative evaluation of system capabilities and limitations. We are seeking an experienced HVDC System Engineer to support the design, analysis, and implementation of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission systems for large-scale power transmission, renewable energy, and grid infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in system studies, grid integration, converter station design support, and technical coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams. Responsibilities Perform HVDC system studies and technical analyses Support the design and development of HVDC transmission systems Participate in converter station design and engineering activities Conduct power system and grid integration studies Analyze system performance, stability, and network interactions Support technical coordination between engineering disciplines and project stakeholders Review technical specifications, calculations, and engineering documentation Collaborate with transmission operators, utilities, contractors, and project teams Support project execution from concept design through commissioning and handover Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and client requirements Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline Experience working with HVDC transmission systems or large-scale power system projects Strong understanding of power systems engineering and electrical network analysis Experience with system studies, load flow analysis, and grid integration assessments Knowledge of converter station technologies and HVDC principles Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills Fluent English, both written and spoken Preferred Experience HVDC transmission projects Renewable energy integration Transmission and distribution networks Grid code compliance studies Power system simulation tools such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSS/E, or EMTP Utility, EPC, or power infrastructure projects FACTS technologies and power quality studies Commissioning and energization activities
