Your future role within QRT: * Be a key member of the infrastructure support team working with high-performance Linux-based trading and research platforms. * Build, administer, upgrade, and support QRT's Linux estate. * Contribute to monitoring and automation initiatives. * Collaborate with engineering teams to document and improve processes. * Participate in out-of-hours work and an on-call rota (typically performed remotely). * Leverage experience in Python and bash scripting. Your Current Skillset: * Hands-on experience working with Linux-based platforms. * Excellent Linux administration skills, with knowledge of RedHat, Centos, and Rocky. * Experience with end-to-end server deployments. * Proficiency in automation technologies (e.g., Ansible). * Working knowledge of AMD/Intel server hardware and physical components. * Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills. * Interest in technology and a willingness to learn. * Ability to work as a team player. * Working knowledge of server network stack, network protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP), LAN, and WAN technologies. * Some experience with NFS/SAN systems is advantageous but not essential. Your future role within QRT This person will be a key member of the global DB team to help support, administrate, and secure databases for QRT. Exposure to many aspects of DB projects, including but not limited to Administration, Always-on/High Availability, Capacity-Planning, Data Warehouse, DB design, etc. What you will do: * Work closely with users from all parts of business to define and resolve information flow and content issues * Enable and support the transformation of business requirements into database solutions * Design and develop robust cutting edge systems to keep QRT business at the forefront of its field Requirements * 5 years + experience in production database administration. At least 2 of the following: SQL-Server, PostgreSQL and Oracle is essential. * Experience in database administration within a production environment, at least 2 of the following: PostgreSQL, SQL-Server, and NoSQL * Good understanding of DB monitoring, analysis, disaster recovery, and performance tuning * Experience in one or more database programming languages (SQL, T-SQL, PSQL etc.) and BI services (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) * Experience managing security and permissions * Experience in scripting in Powershell/Shell script, python would be a plus * Experience in cloud DB admin would be a plus * Knowledge of industry best practices * Organized with a proactive approach to work, team player; ability to work under pressure, with excellent time management skills QRT is an equal opportunity employer. Your role at QRT We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Core Data & Lifecycle Engineering team in Sydney. This team builds and owns critical systems that sit at the heart of QRT’s trading operations—powering trade and position lifecycle management, reference data, and reporting workflows across all asset classes. These systems are highly visible and directly influence trading decisions, risk management, and operational efficiency. This is primarily a hands-on engineering role (≈80% development), with a smaller component (≈20% support and system ownership) focused on maintaining robustness, reliability, and data quality in production. You’ll work closely with trading, research, risk, and operations teams, gaining strong exposure to the business while building scalable, high-performance systems. What you’ll work on * Designing and building scalable, high-performance systems for trade and position lifecycle management * Developing solutions to automate lifecycle events such as corporate actions, expiries, and cash flows across asset classes * Building and maintaining high-quality reference data platforms used across trading and research * Delivering real-time and end-of-day reporting pipelines for internal and external stakeholders * Ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across systems and workflows * Contributing to system validation, controls, and operational robustness, including alignment with brokers and fund administrators * Collaborating closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable technical solutions * Writing well-tested, maintainable code and contributing to CI/CD and deployment pipelines * Supporting production systems and continuously improving reliability, monitoring, and performance What we’re looking for * 5–10 years of software engineering experience, ideally in a high-performance or data-intensive environment * Strong programming skills in Python (experience with C# is a plus) * Solid understanding of software design, architecture, and scalable systems * Experience working with SQL and relational databases * Familiarity with testing frameworks and CI/CD practices Domain experience (one or more is valuable, not required) We’re interested in engineers with exposure to financial markets, particularly: * Trade and position lifecycle systems * Equities, ETFs, futures, or options * Corporate actions and reference data * Market structure and exchange-specific behaviour Deep expertise in a single asset class is not required—but an interest in learning and working in a trading environment is important.
