ABOUT THE ROLE: As a Solution Architect in the Field Engineering team, you will span both technical pre‑sales and post‑sales, serving as a trusted advisor to our enterprise customers throughout their lifecycle. In pre‑sales, you will qualify technical fit, design future‑state architectures, run evaluations, and demonstrate how Vercel unlocks measurable business outcomes. Post-sales, you will act as a technical quarterback, helping customers successfully adopt and standardize on Vercel by aligning the right resources at the right time. You will guide architecture and implementation decisions, identify when to engage Professional Services or Developer Success, and work across Product and Engineering to unblock customers and drive long-term success for critical AI and Web workloads. If you’re based within commuting distance of our London or Berlin office, the role includes in-office anchor days. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Partner with Sales to lead technical discovery, qualify customer use cases, and shape solution strategy for key opportunities. * Design target architectures for modern Agentic workflows, and AI and web applications on Vercel, including frontends, APIs, data and edge services, and integrations with headless and composable ecosystems (CMS, commerce, payments, media, analytics). * Create and deliver tailored demos, technical presentations, and workshops that clearly articulate Vercel’s value and differentiate our platform. * Own and run proofs of concept and pilots end‑to‑end: define success criteria, guide implementation, remove technical blockers, and ensure executive‑level outcomes are documented. * Act as lead architect post‑sale for strategic accounts, guiding onboarding, reference implementations, migration patterns, and best practices for building and operating on Vercel. * Proactively engage with customers on performance, reliability, and cost optimization, using metrics like Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse, and observability data to drive continuous improvement. * Collaborate with other members of the Field Engineering Team to standardise playbooks, reusable assets, and patterns that scale across customers and regions. * Respond to and coordinate security, compliance, and architecture reviews, partnering with internal specialists on areas like data protection and regulatory requirements. * Capture recurring themes, patterns, and gaps from the field and feed them back into Product and Engineering roadmaps as the technical Voice of the Customer. * Contribute to internal enablement and external content (reference architectures, example repos, talks, and blog posts) that help developers be successful on Vercel. * Some travel elements are expected relating to industry events, customer on-sites. ABOUT YOU * You have significant experience in a customer‑facing technical role (solutions architect, sales engineer, platform architect, Agency Software Engineer) working with modern web or cloud platforms. * You bring strong hands‑on skills with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks, ideally including Next.js, and are comfortable reviewing and discussing application code with engineering teams. * You understand web performance, caching, networking, and security fundamentals, ideally AI/LLM powered applications and Agentic workflows and can translate them into practical guidance for enterprise architectures. * You are equally comfortable discussing business outcomes with executives and implementation details with developers, switching context quickly while maintaining credibility. * You have a track record of owning complex technical projects, juggling multiple stakeholders, and delivering on time in fast‑moving environments. * You thrive in collaborative field teams, enjoy mentoring others, and value clear, concise communication and documentation. * You are familiar with cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) and how SaaS and edge platforms integrate into broader enterprise architectures. * You have empathy for developers and a passion for great developer experience, and you enjoy helping teams build accurate mental models of how platforms work. * Bonus if you have experience of building AI powered applications, or Agentic workloads, ideally leveraging tooling such as the AI SDK. BONUS IF YOU * Have production experience deploying and operating Next.js or other modern frontend frameworks on Vercel or similar platforms. * Have worked with organisations standardising on composable architectures (headless CMS, commerce, search, analytics, and identity providers). * Hold cloud or architecture certifications (for example, Cloud Solutions Architect certifications) or have led large‑scale migrations to cloud‑native platforms. * Are familiar with security and privacy standards such as SOC 2, PCI DSS, or HIPAA and have participated in customer security reviews. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Utilization Optimization: Maintain or improve team utilization rates across all Shopify Plus engagements, targeting 70%+ blended team utilization. * Certification Growth: Drive 100% of the practice team to hold at least one Shopify Partner or Developer certification within 12 months. * Solution Quality: Ensure architectural integrity, scalability, and maintainability across all delivered Shopify Plus solutions—measured by client satisfaction scores and post-launch performance benchmarks. * Sales Pipeline Contribution: Actively participate in pursuits contributing to at least $8M in unweighted Shopify Commerce pipeline annually, with a target of closing $3M+ in new logos or significant expansions. * Individual Billability: Maintain a minimum of 50% individual billable utilization, balanced against the practice-building and sales activities inherent to this role. * Team Retention & Growth: Achieve 85%+ retention within the practice and maintain a pipeline of at least two internal candidates ready for promotion annually. MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: * 10+ years of experience in enterprise technology leadership within a consulting, systems integration, or agency environment—with at least 3–4 years specifically in Shopify Plus or a comparable enterprise commerce platform. * Deep, hands-on expertise in the Shopify Plus platform: Shopify Functions, Checkout Extensibility, Markets Pro, B2B, headless/composable commerce architectures, and the Shopify app ecosystem. * Strong command of the enterprise commerce technology stack surrounding Shopify Plus—including ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), enterprise search (Elasticsearch, Algolia), CDPs (Segment, mParticle, Salesforce Data Cloud), PIM, OMS, and payment platforms. * Proven track record of participating in or leading sales pursuits, proposals, and client-facing solutioning conversations—comfortable owning a technical narrative in a competitive deal. * Experience building, leading, and growing distributed technical teams—hiring, mentoring, retaining senior talent, and creating cultures of technical excellence. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to operate fluently across executive, technical, and commercial audiences. PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS * Shopify Partner Certification, Shopify Developer Certification, or Shopify Plus Certification (required or expected within 6 months of hire). * AWS/Azure/GCP Solutions Architect, TOGAF, SAFe, PMP, or equivalent—demonstrating both platform-level and enterprise architecture credentials. We're hiring a senior engineer for Content Agent - Sanity's operations layer for structured content. It's the system that turns content work (bulk edits, audits, translation, publishing) into things an agent can actually run. It lives in Dashboard, Studio, Slack, and behind a headless API. Content Agent is the part of the product that understands structured content - schemas, references, field types, validation rules - and can be trusted to operate on it correctly. You'd be doing full-stack product work in TypeScript and React: MCP tools and integrations, agent orchestration, system prompts, evals to make the whole thing more reliable. Engineers on this team own their domain and work closely with product on what gets built next. WHAT YOU'D BE DOING: * Full-stack product work: React interfaces in Dashboards, APIs, backend services. * MCP tools and integrations that extend what the agent can do. * Agent loops: the orchestration logic that decides what the agent does, in what order, and when to bring a human in. * System prompts. Given a new agent capability, you think through user intent, edge cases, failure modes, and what that means for the architecture: what the agent knows, what tools it has, when it escalates. * You write well and you care about why one phrasing works where another doesn't. An agent's instructions are prose running on a system that reads literally. We are seeking a curious, experienced, and thoughtful Tech Lead to join our Customer Journey team, one of our core product teams responsible for the full user experience. In this role, you will take the lead on the technical side of our e-commerce platform while continuing to write code and collaborate closely with your teammates. You are a developer who is just as comfortable writing code as you are leading others. You thrive in a role that is 50% technical leadership and 50% coding, and you are ready to support your teammates, share your knowledge, and drive continuous improvement across engineering, quality assurance, and team practices. This role does not include any personnel management responsibilities. What your days might look like This role combines equal parts programming and technical leadership, working in a dedicated team consisting of a Product Owner and four full-stack developers. What you’ll do: Build and improve the parts of our platform that customers use every day — including our storefront, sticker editors, content management integrations, and shopping flow. Lead architectural discussions and guide long-term technical decisions. Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code that supports a smooth customer experience. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality solutions. Balance coding with technical leadership and mentorship. Work across our stack — from TypeScript and Svelte components, to Node APIs and Docker configurations. Contribute to prioritizing technical debt and refining features together with your teammates. You’re confident in modern frontend development and write scalable code in TypeScript. You know how to create fast, intuitive interfaces that customers enjoy using, with a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and performance optimization. Experience from e-commerce platforms is highly meriting. Your technical strengths Strong skills in modern JavaScript frameworks Understanding of how to work with and around headless content management systems. Comfortable working across the stack, including Node.js, and familiar with building and maintaining custom packages and component libraries. Experience integrating third-party services and building or maintaining APIs. Knowledge of how frontend, content, integrations, and backend logic come together to form a seamless customer journey. You express yourself clearly and confidently in both written and spoken English. How you work You know how to prioritize technical work, guide architectural decisions, and maintain high quality without micromanagement. You take initiative and ownership — from concept to delivery — and contribute to both code and collaboration. You appreciate clear direction and structure, yet remain pragmatic and open-minded.
